Excellent location, with good accommodation and friendly staff.
Based on the 8.6 (Fabulous) rating, and after extensive research, I chose the Master Builders Hotel for a short holiday with two very good NZ friends. The food was VERY disappointing, the beds VERY soft. Eggs were not cooked to order, my rare sirloin steak was well done - the replacement was blue and not particularly tender. The black pudding was too thin and carbonised on the second morning. My kipper was not a fresh one - pre-boned & processed. We dined elsewhere on two nights.
Beautiful historic setting; thoughtfully kept rural and simple. Staff wonderful. Setting perfect. Walks in the woods and along the river. Meals delicious. Our dog loved it as well. The staff looked after all three of us very well.
Very good in a relaxing location with prompt service but left to get on with it in your own time with no hurry
Generally speaking the food in the Yachtman's bar was very good and the lads serving there were a credit to you However, one dish which in my view would benefit from a serious rethink is the vegetarian curry - rather, if not very bland. We had food in the bar the three nights we were there and we noticed that I wasn't the only person to have that sort of view about the curry
From check in, having a tour of the hotel from reception, great food, fantastic view and lovely staff our stay was super.
Great location. Lovely walks and apple orchard. Delicious cheese board.
Poor internet connection was a problem when trying to check ferry bookings etc. Not sure if you have non-alcoholic wine on the menu but that would be good. Quality bottles are now available inthe supermarkets.
With beautiful views over the Beaulieu River and set at the end of the grassy street that is Bucklers Hard village, it is difficult to imagine a more picturesque setting for a hotel on the whole south coast of England. Whats more, The Master Builders is located on Lord Montagu's Beaulieu Estate in the New Forest National Park and just a few minutes' drive from Beaulieu Palace House and the National Motor Museum. We offer Chic and Luxury Rooms in the main house, and Classic Rooms in the Henry Adams wing, (which cost less). We filled the rooms with original and comfortable furnishings, each named after a ship built in Bucklers Hard, and then we added amazingly comfy beds and Egyptian cotton bed linen. Theres a wee bottle of complimentary organic vodka by your bed, as well as Teapigs tea, proper cafetire coffee and biscuits. All in all, a magical mix.Come for a relaxing short break of quirky but affordable luxury in the splendour of the New Forest.
