Overview Reviews
Novotel Canberra is Canberra's premium 4.5 hotel boasting an unrivalled location in the heart of the city.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was comfortable and had good business support.
Cons: A bit out of the way, with very tight carpark spaces. Restaurant menu is a bit limited.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and good service, really nice pool, gym and sauna.
6,0 Good
Pros: Location. Bar/restaurant
Cons: The car park was chaos. Staffed/Un staffed hours in the car park left us having to take the keys up to reception sometimes and organising re imburstments for tickets entering - this left is waiting in lines frequently at lunchtime and evenings felt like a hassle every time to get our vehicle out. Would be much more simple with an access pass for guests without staff controlling the car park. Larger gym would be better with a little more equipment.

1,0 Poor
Pros: Wish I could find something to like. The only thing I probably liked was that staff were very professional and helpful.
Cons: Worst stay ever. Hotel was very unclean. Mosquitos were everywhere as if they were included in the package. Asked the staff to spray to kill these mosquitos. Receptionist was very professional and she offered us another room. But the issue was still same. Mosquitos everywhere. On our request they sprayed our room. Still mosquitos appeared again and many dead on the floor. Bathroom was like small movable unit , very filthy and unclean and you could barely even move a inch in this smallest bathroom in the world.and mosquitos also welcome you before the shower. So good luck. Shame on Ibis as we stayed for 14 nights and I felt very cheated for paying so much for way below par budget hotel and not even getting basic clean room atleast. Extremely disappointed with the ibis budget hotel as I used them previously in Europe and they were much btr. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Please don't waste money on this crappy place. I don't want to say anything else. Just stated facts

4,0 Okay
Pros: The staff were lovely. Very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: For anyone with any mobility issues, the bathroom is impossible to use. It was not very clean and there was no functioning smoke alarm in the room. More than half the TV channels did not work.

Pros: Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. A lovely team. Room was basic and comfortable.
Cons: could be cleaner.

While there is free parking on site, we were too late to grab a spot, however, there was on street parking on the street behind (though payment is required after 8.30 am).

6,0 Good
Pros: It was warm and close to where our meeting was taking place. Its also very central to Civic and Nishi. The reviews i read were accurate.
Cons: There is limited allocated parking. The internet i.e.: free wi fi does not work. The buffet breakfast was poorly maintained when we were there choices were limited. Our business associate was lucky he went later. Coffee was undrinkable. It did not live up to what you would expect from Peppers. Then we are a mature couple perhaps we expect too much.
6,8 Good
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful! First class service.
Cons: The hallways/lift areas needs cleaning/dusting/vacuuming. Dark and uninviting. The rooms were very clean - so it's not a house keeping issue. It's the hotel. It needs attention to lift the grading especially given the competition in the area.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff Efficient check-in. Great location - close to Lake Burley Giffin Quiet Nice "hidden" court yard Very helpful with secure storage of our e-bikes Pretty good breakfast In-house restaurant
Cons: Very small rooms. Only one chair in room Windows couldn't be opened. Electronic door locks intermittently failing Shower door missing. Light fitting in bathroom broken/missing Low light in bathroom

Cons: Bed was soft and uncomfortable. Made worse by all pillows too high (thick). No parking on site - parking was a 10 minute walk away. On arrival - had to park car blocking drive-in to unload bags and checkin.
5,0 Okay
Cons: The photos of the rooms were obviously not to match the room i booked, it was the loudest room It was at the start of the hall way so i could here everyone walk past as well as it being right next to the restaurant which had entertainment for quite a few hours so was very loud! The bathroom didnt have functional hooks for towels and no fan in the bathroom. Also we were on the bottom floor yet our windows were unable to open

Pros: My second room was really well appointed and comfortable...... and very quiet!
Cons: I had a room that was right next to the MacDonald drive through which was noisy all night, and I hardly slept but as soon as I mentioned that I wasn't happy the desk personnel gave me an upgrade to a quiet room.

Pros: bed super comfy, room was quiet, fan didn't sound like an airplane taking off, staff greeting was lovely, would've really appreciated all the room extras if we stayed longer than a nights' sleep.

Pros: Standard size motel room. Great location close to shops and parks.
Cons: Paid the mandatory extra $40 for pets but didn't receive advertised pet package.

Pros: Dog friendly
Cons: Cost did not compare to what was quoted!!
6,0 Good
Pros: Very well presented hotel, spacious room and modern fittings. It's a real bonus that a hotel of this calibre is also pet friendly.
Cons: Our room was located right next to a pub on the edge of the hotel. This made sleeping at night a little hard with the karaoke. Furthermore the mattress, although spacious was a little too plush so my partner and I had sore backs in the morning and the pillows were too high, so our necks were sore as well.

Pros: The location to the city and access to eating out and transport was excellent. The room was a good size. Pool was a good size.
Cons: The common area carpets where not clean and needed a good vacuum. The Hotel had some very noisy guest over 2 nights and management did not react fast enough to deal with them. When we commented a staff member took some offence.

Pros: Close to where we attended a funtion.
Cons: According to my booking details for thie permier 2 bedroom apartment there should have been additional toilet, ipod dock, dressing room and upper floors accessible via elevator. None of these were included. Also the early morning church service blaring their music first thing on a sunday morning was not very cosiderate for other guests trying to sleep. Also, i wish i was aware Our main bedroom backed onto a self serve car wash before booking. Being woken to someone washig their car at 2:30am didn’t make me want to return to this accommodation.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, good shower, well equipped, good central location. Was very hot during our visit the airconditioning worked very well, but we were on a ground floor apartment which stayed quite cool anyway. Nice quite location.
6,3 Good
Pros: Great location. Large motel with no parking allocation, but plenty of parking.
Cons: Mediocre reception on arrival. We were 20 mins early but told to come back after an hour, room was not ready. Reception seemed disinterested in/ apathetic to our situation despite having traveled 3 hours. One bedside lamp did not work, bedside radio clock needed a PhD to operate so relied on our mobile phones for alarms and time. Restaurant had country pub style menus but relatively high prices, so we ate elsewhere as we knew the town. We had asked for a quiet room but experienced noisy neighbours around working days end. Unit window view was into a corridor, ie no view.

Pros: Good location. Breakfast buffet is worth trying.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The pond and fish were nice, the customer service was friendly and I did enjoy my stay even considering the heat.
Cons: A/c was a little noisy and not situated in a beneficial place. I was there on 47'c day so only 1 room cooled down. That was it, rest was ok.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was spacious and comfy; Wifi OK.
Cons: Freezing bathroom floor (invest in several thick bathmats per unit!!) Shower water temperature would suddenly go from warm to scalding. Several times per shower (not a new problem I know).
7,7 Good
Pros: Big room with balcony and lounge room. Charming 1950s decor. Lovely towels.
Cons: Shower was a bit unreliable with hot water supply from the 1950s. Basin was cracked. Bird poo on the landing was not cleaned for at least 24 hours.
