9,6 Excellent
Pros: The professionalism of staff, other than the cleaning ladies... the lounge manager and her team running the lounge area near the window seating who really looked after us with a delicious club sandwich, on arrival as we chatted to other guests as we waited for our room : the front desk team and concierge (v impressive awards and medals!) including David, our limosine driver who immaculately picked us up and welcomed us to our new life in Switzerland. This was excellent unpretentious and respectable service, throughout . Totally enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Dining options were limited, it being a Sunday but room service and lounge service more than made up for this. Food was excellent. Unfortunately, when we were taken to our room (I was on crutches, too) it wasn't ready. It was very embarrassing for the front desk colleague who accompanied us. The housekeeping ladies were having their own fun on their own time, changing bed linen, dropping it in passageway etc and not picking dirty dressing gowns, up.We sat waiting, next to them as a new room was being sourced that was ready. They carried on laughing and joking in their home language, right in front of us. I was appalled by this. It took us by surprise. It felt like they were working in a value level hotel. They seemed oblivious to the proud standards of the rest of the hotel team who were exemplary. They just stepped over things and carried on. First impressions were really not good at this point.

Pros: The staff was professional, curteous, multi-lingual, and the front desk was always staffed. The hotel was amazingly generous with coffee, wine and snacks available throughout the day and evening. I also had free access to a computer and internet and a quiet place to settle in and work near the coffee, wine and snacks. A variety of international newspapers and magazines were available as well. Within just a few hundred yards I found the Marketplace, filled with shops, restaurants, and an art museum with an impressive collection of impressionist paintings (my favorite) was also just a 10 minute walk away. Did I mention there was free coffee, wine and snacks?

Pros: It is a beautiful hotel in a very convenient location. The rooms are lovely. The staff are among the most helpful we’ve ever met. Breakfast was both delicious and abundant. There is also a very cosy and comfortable sitting area next to the breakfast area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was just perfect. The location for start, just outside the main station so it was really convenient. Just had to cross the road and we were there. Check in was perfect. Jaris was very professional and kind. He provided all the necessary information and also assigned us a perfect room which was really spacious and had a lot of natural light. The room was very clean, the bathroom was nice and large. Breakfast was very good with nice variety of local produce. Luca made the experience perfect as he interacted personally and made us feel really welcome. He also provided us with tips of places to visit and also marked them on a map for us. very helpful We really enjoyed our stay and was sad to leave. The theme of the hotel "arrive as a guest and leave as a friend" is perfect. we indeed made friends. And not to forget the 4 legged friend that our 8 year old son made. Really friendly and gentle. we would not think of another place to stay if we were to visit Basel again
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Staff desire to help, very good breakfast
Cons: The first room was uncomfortable and didn’t match the order, there was also very high audibility. We heard a neighbor coughing all night. But we kindly change the room for the next nights.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: From check-in to leaving, an excellent experience. Hotel is literally across the street from the train station. It's a nice walk to the old town area and the river. And a quick trolly ride back with the included free town pass. Room was large and well equipped. Bath was spotless, well-equipped and with large walk-in shower. Included breakfast was delicious and offered good variety served in beautiful dining room.
Cons: Nothing. This hotel was great.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location was good and the staff very friendly and efficient. There was a Swiss restaurant next to the hotel which the staff recommended, and the food was delicious. The beer nice too. Läderach, my favorite chocolate in the world, has a location in the train station across the street from the hotel. Perfect!
Cons: The room was pretty small - which I selected because we only had a one night stay over. As we were across from the train station- which I also selected and knew in advance - the cable cars/trans kept coming and going late into the evening and again early the next morning. So, this is a pretty active area and a bit noisy.......
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is the cutest gem of Art Deco hotel. Lovely room. Superb location, just steps from the train station. Also! A FREE Airport bus pass made this a very pleasant place to stay indeed. Breakfast which is included was outstanding as well. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Pros: Warm hospitality from the reception and breakfast staff
Cons: Pillows a little soft but it is a minor comment

9,0 Excellent
Pros: The welcoming staff had all the basics covered concerning the area, transportation and best places to visit. The breakfast staff was quick to assist with coffee and beverages during the morning meal. The location was perfect for walking to the Christmas markets.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very pleasant stay, amyzingly warm, helpful, competent staff. All facilities good (but didn't have time to test the gym :-( ). Really good breakfast. A sincere thank you to the staff for making my stay so enjoyable and restful. I also benefitted from a free upgrade which was really kind. Finally, the "tea and espresso" machine in the bedroom, and the complementary dosettes, were really appreaciated, as were the fruit and flavoured waters in the lobby.
Cons: Lift, corridoor and rooms spotless and fully functional but a little "old-looking" - really not a problem but a bit surprising all the same.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: It was in a good location. We had a corner room overlooking the city gate, so the view was pretty, but a bit noisy. The hotel was comfortable and the staff very welcoming. The only thing that needs upgrading are the towels. They were very thin and scratchy. Theven old town area was very charming, especially since we were there during the holidays. I would stay at this hotel again if in the area.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel was excellent. Opposite the Spalentor Gate, the west entrance to the Old Town, it was an easy walk to the city centre. The bonus is getting a free travel card as bus number 30 stops here and it goes every 10 minutes or so to the main railway station. The hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is fine. The staff were exceptionally nice.
Cons: The pillows weren't very comfortable.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Nice large room. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Great location. Included Tram day passes, but most sites were walkable. Convenient to riverboat docks.
Cons: It was noisy at night if the window was open, but quiet with it shut.

Pros: I booked this hotel after my flight was cancelled. It exceeded my expectations as it had a few perks such as a free Basel Card and 24 hour coffee bar. The check in was seamless and the staff very helpful. The hotel was spotless. The bed was very comfortable and they had in room coffee and fridge. There were a few restaurants nearby and we choose Italian which was very good. There is a large mall nearby however I wished I had the time to have visited it. It was a quick and easy walk to the tram which was free with the Basel Card. Only 4 stops to the Old Town. Very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: No airport transfer. It cost 55 CHF to get to the airport at 5:00 AM. This was the only negative.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is at walking distance from many historical parts of the city and public transport tickets were provided to us as well. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast offered enough options. The staff was extremely helpful and kind and always smiling.
Cons: It was mentioned on the property that there was a parking available, but that was not true. You need to park on the street and it is not sure you’ll find a spot. Our car was loaded for the trip, so we had to look for a surveilled parking somewhere else.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It’s location, cleanliness and it was a little quirky.
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: Minor feedback : bath tub is a bit too high
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, comfortable, and had quite modern furnishings. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast included with room.
Cons: Room was not air conditioned. Had to use a small flight of stairs to get to our room, which was cumbersome with luggage.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is spotlessly clean and perfectly situated in the Alstadt, a few minutes from shops, restaurants and trams. Restaurant Atelier serves traditional Swiss fare to a good standard. Our room was up in the eaves and whilst quite small was perfectly equipped. Basel is a fabulous city, clean, beautiful and with friendly people. We loved the New Year celebrations, music in the Munsterplatz at 11.30pm followed by a fantastic fireworks display at 12.30am. Don't forget your bottle of champagne! Thank you Basel for giving us a lovely and different New Year. We'll be back!

Pros: We went for New Years and the location was a short walk to the fireworks etc.
Cons: Wouldn't look for any else or to do anything differently.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, lovely comfortable rooms and a good little gym
6,0 Good
Pros: The room with its view was great and spacious (after we bought an upgrade for business), breakfast was very good and had lots of choice and the location was nice.
Cons: The main restaurant of the hotel was lacking most of the choices from the menu, customer service in the restaurant was very average considering the prices. Furthermore, we bought an room upgrade which was inclusive access to the penthouse executive lounge with complementary drinks and snacks. However, during our 3 day stay we hardly noticed any snacks or replenishment of these and most of the time it was not even clean.
10,0 Excellent
Cons: One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was that it offered a shuttle service to airport. As I was leaving at 4 am I booked the shuttle only to find out they had booked me a taxi at a cost of CHF42 . Also they asked me to pay the city tax when I was leaving even though this shows on my booking congas already paid .
6,7 Good
Pros: Good views Close to the highway Free mini bar
Cons: Food on executive floor was simple and old. Soundproofing between room not so good. Simple facilities Rather plain, boring and business like
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super helpful and accommodating! View from our room on the 10th floor was marvelous, especially with all the lights at night. The beds were comfy and the free minibar is a real treat - the staff restocked it every day with a little surprise, like a Lindt chocolate bar or good quality crisps. Breakfast buffet was good, too. Also the sauna was great to unwind in the evening.
Cons: Breakfast buffet was exactly the same every single day for five nights - it would have been great to have a few different items every day to keep it more interesting. That said, the quality of the breakfast provided was excellent! The relaxation area in the sauna could do with a few more berths. there would be easily space for two - four more loungers.

Cons: Noisy bar and breakfast area. Probably the time of year
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money, the staff was always there to assist us, clean and very comfort rooms and the breakfast was great, especially the homemade muesli!!
Cons: The location was not as centrally as our first impression was (we had to change 2 trams to get to the Christmas market). Claraplatz though is just a few minutes on foot!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I was impressed with this hotel. First of all I arrived at 10am and was informed by the lively red haired lady at the reception that my room was ready, so I was allowed to go in. That was very appreciated. I had a single room, and upon booking I asked whether they had rooms with baths (not usually the case for a single room) and upon entering the room...I find my bath :) Single room was perfect size with a free mini bar. Upon checking in I was given a transport card to travel for free (even to the airport if needed). When I was there it was raining and I found the additional umbrella (the big ones) to be very useful instead of the pocket umbrella that I had. Bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Everything was perfect. Will surely return if I visit Basel again. Location is 4 tram stops from SBB train station and tram stops just less than a minute walk from the hotel. Inside they have a monitor to tell you the waiting time for nearby buses and trams so if t is too cold or raining you could wait at the hotel. The lady at check out (short bob hair) was so lovely and seemed genuinely interested in striking up a conversation. Overall 10+
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and kind staff. Room very clean and calm. Very good breakfast
B&B La Vie en Rose - Basel - Building

9,1 Excellent (91 reviews)

5,4 Okay
Pros: The location is good, in quiet, leafy streets, convenient for a pleasant stroll or jog along the Rhine, or a short tram ride into the middle of the city. The rooms are themed as pink, blue or green. There is a small shared kitchen and a simple "Continental" breakfast is served there
Cons: Very much a B&B, not really an alternative to a hotel: the small bathroom (shower only) is shared by the three rooms on one floor of the building, so privacy is limited. OK for friends or family, but a bit weird with strangers. (But then I don't usually stay in B&B's, so maybe that's just me....) When I stayed it seemed very expensive for a B&B, but hotels were also expensive, so maybe it would be better value at a less busy time
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I like this lovely decorated house and it’s absolut clean . The breakfast is perfect and the location in Basel very comfortable. it’s a very nice place to stay in Basel!
9,2 Excellent

Pros: This is an adorable property in an excellent location. The bonus is the host Christoph, he is friendly, warm and engaging.

Pros: Everything was just perfect. Cosy room and perfect location. Not only the host Christoph sent the letter prior to my artival with all necessary infornation and even access to free ride transportation to the property, but also gave all the needed recommendations for city sights and museums in Basel. Will definitely stay again.
Cons: The construction works outside were a bit noisy, but seems like it was just temporarily repairing thing.

Pros: Owner and manager were super hosts and ideally located to RHIE river walk, cafes, ferry, and old town! Home sweet home for international travelers
Cons: All good

Pros: It was like home. The host was very kind and informative.
6,7 Good
Pros: Location was good. Room size was good.
Cons: Room smelled moldy. Only one small window could be opened. Very noisy when other guests use common areas.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The Rhine and the city center is easy to reach, quiet, surrounded by a garden. The owner explains whatever you need to know about the city and gives you a map, and a Basel card, so traveling is easy. You also find brochures about museums. There is a coffee machine, nespresso capsulas, electric kettle and tea available.
Cons: There was no internet. In my room there was only a door to the garden (no window) so if you want to have fresh air during the night you need to open the door either to the garden or to the hall. Which was OK for me because I shared the ground floor with a quiet person.

Pros: Great host and very nice place. Quiet!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern, good location, good facilities, fantastic host with lots of information, good kitchen facilities with free coffee and tea, comfy beds and a quiet location
Cons: No complaints other than i couldn't find the doorbell but that might have been my mistake, but owner responded to my email and met me very quickly to ensure my entry
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This B&B consists of only two rooms on the ground floor of a private house, but everything is brand new, there is a kitchen and a shower unit and overall the place looks great. A city card for free travel on the public transport is provided, Wi-Fi is fast and stable.
Cons: Because there is no formal check-in, you really need to inform your arrival time in advance.

Pros: Nice quiet place, excellent location. personalized breakfast :) However I found the cost to be on the higher side, but I understand that is what it takes to keep a small local business like it viable. Overall great experience, the host was very amicable, got in touch with me before I arrived and made sure that I had everything that I needed. It's a pity that it was raining and I did not use the basel card they provided much.
Cons: I had a single bed and was wishing that it was a little bit wider and they provided multiple pillows.
