Cons: "After thorough check (and hours at the airport) at the holiday destination, Dubai, my luggage was deemed lost. The DXB lost luggage staff helped me complete a 'lost luggage' report. However, the staff member told me that 'if' RwandAir found my luggage, I would be responsible for going to the airport as RwandAir does not have lost luggage delivery like most airlines. For the six days of my holiday, I waited for phone calls and checked emails expecting to hear from RwandAir. I heard nothing, RwandAir had made no effort of any kind to locate my luggage they had mishandled. Upon flying back home, I checked with the initial airport (DXB), the transit airport (Kigali), and my final destination airport (Brazzaville). My luggage was not in any of the airports mentioned. In each airport, and the RwandAir office at the Brazzaville airport, I presented the initial lost luggage form from the prior week and it was apparent that nobody, no airport, and no office was interested in finding my luggage. RwandAir, at no point, apologized for losing my belongings or in any way attempted to make up for seriously harming my holiday- not to mention the fact that it appears I will never see my possessions that were last seen being taken by RwandAir staff at the beginning of my holiday travels."

We arrived and checked in well before the 1 hour cutoff and we were under the weight limit, so there was no reason for our baggage to be left behind. We were informed that our bags would NOT be delivered to us at our next destination, that the burden was on us to retrieve them AND there was no stipend or any type of refund to compensate us for the inconvenience. Since we were continuing our travel by road to Uganda, we had to pay extra to have a driver return to the airport the next day to retrieve and deliver our bags. This is very, very poor customer service!"

Easy short flight from Johannesburg to Harare. Boarding was slow, flight attendants were friendly. They did a meal service on this short flight, including wine, which was pretty cool.
Loved the customer service and the fact that everything was on time, the served refreshments are a cherry on top
There was no entertainment, but that is not expected on a flight less than 2 1/2 hours. Uber clean aircraft, good boxed meal and friendly flight attendants. Very please with the experience
The check-in line was long and people were put in front of me in the line even after I said I had checked in online. It took me an hour to finally get my documents checked and drop my suitcase. It was horrible!

We had to pay extra for the “overweight” bags but the cost was reasonable. I would use the airline again."

We had a connection flight from Johannesburg to Luanda (DT578 TAAG Angolan Airlines) wich we nearly missed. My luggage didn't arrive in Luanda. So far nothing wrong. Delays are normal. The major problem was the ground crew in Maputo who didn't provide proper information on time. Furthermore after landing in JHB no protection to late passengers in transit was provided. When disembarking I approached a lady at the bottom of the stairs and she didn't have our names on the list so we were on our own trying to find our way through the endless cue at the transfers counter. We made it but I'm sure Hussein Bolt would have lost a race against us. Shame SAA!!! This was the last airline in Africa I would expect a such unprofessional treatment. I asked the flight attendant to notify SA of the delay for those of us on the connecting flight and she refused. (Overall, with the exception of one woman, I did not see any of the crew even smile across three flights). We were told that there would be a gate agent to help. There was none. It turns out my colleague, who was on the connecting flight, convinced the SA flight to Namibia to wait 30 minutes, which was plenty of time for us to make it. We even saw this on the board. However, with no assistance, we struggled to find the gate. Aggravated, we still arrived at the connecting gate before the flight departed, but no SA agent was willing to help us. They just talked with each other. The flight to Namibia just sat there!! When I returned to the help desk and asked to be switched to an Air Namibia flight in order to get to Windhoek in time to meet my safari, the employee told me that the manager needed to approve the switch, but the location of this person was unknown. The Air Namibia flight was departing in 50 minutes. The Air Namibia crew was SUPERB and helped enormously when I decided to purchase a ticket - at my own expense because the SA manager was still MIA - to fly on to Windhoek. Very, very disappointing. I am a travel planner who sends people all over the world and will not recommend SA unless this is acknowledged. Thank you."

At this time I had already extra lagguage which I paid $200 and they told me to pay another $200 dollars for carry on bag. They were so rude to me they told me to leave the bag if I do not have money. I was stranded. I tried to tell them that I boarded two flight which they did not charge me. They said the flights has different laws. But when I was going to New York i used the same flight with carry on lagguge and my laptop bag. So I paid $400. When I entered the flight I was shocked to find that almost everyone had a carryon bag. I felt that they did that to me because I was black and they wanted to find advantage on me. I was so stressful because I had no where to go. I used Delta flight when i was coming to new york but I have never experienced this charges. Now international flight experiencing this horrible situation. . True paying $400 because I had carry on bag?? Am still stressful they took a lot to me. They did not gave me receipt. I asked them to give me receipt all what they were answering me was like "just go." I have never been in a such situation. That is why I said I do not have appetite of boarding South African airways again. Is it true that your laws doesn't allow people to have carryon luggage? Cons: "Nothing you could have provided other than a business class leg each way. Long, long flight across this planet—half way. I would prefer more English and Foreign movies, please. Unfortunately I left my prescription reading glasses on flight VA602 and Jacques Nortje at Heathrow was kind enough to go looking for them at the lost and found of Virgin Atlantic—to no avail. Black hard case with blue rimmed glasses and a blue cleaning cloth. His service was a godsend—enabling me to stay flight side whilst he went land side so I did not need to go through security for an unaccomplished mission as the glasses were not there."

SAA told me "sometimes rules have to be changed for security reasons." Which was clearly nonsense. This I the first time I have flown SAA in many years and the first time I have booked by guitar - I do around 60 flights per year in many countries. I will never fly SAA again"

We had to incur more expenses in the city coming back to the airport , we got charged $148 on top of that by the Harare immigration guys and we had to spend a lot in the restaurant because of that"

Cons: "My Air India and Kenya Airways flights were packaged together as though they were a code share, but when my initial let on Air India from Delhi to Mumbai was delayed I missed my connection to Nairobi. What followed was a bizarre five-hour scramble in the Mumbai airport that ranks in the top three worst flight experiences I’ve ever had. I had already checked in and had a emailed boarding pass, but wasn’t let through security without the official airline printout. Although the Kenya Airways Nairobi flight was also delayed and was still several hours from boarding, their staff was nowhere to be found and none of their 10+ customer service numbers was working. I finally managed to get a hold of a representative over the phone via the airport’s information counter, and she swore that a staff member was on the way to meet me. Two hours and several calls and assurances later, the flight took off without me and the Kenya Airways staff stopped picking up the phone. Then there was a crazy several hours of back and forth as a single employee emerged and demanded that I get a letter from Air India taking responsibility for the initial delay, before disappearing again for several hours. The disorganization, unprofessionalism and outright lies I encountered were frankly bizarre and unlike anything I’ve encountered while flying before."

Another only bothered to give water to the first 2/3 of the plane and then for some unknown reason simply stopped passing out water. All three of the Kenya airways fights were late but no one said so or why. I would avoid this airline at all costs."

Pilot said it was due to "technical difficulties". My ticket had 4 legs : Nov 28 due to leave JNB at 1:20 finally left at 8:30 due to NBO runway closed from plane belly landing - the pilot was very apologetic - LATE. Dec 5 NBO to Entebbe was an hour late due to "passenger problem and luggage taken off" - LATE. Dec 10 Entebbe to NBO left an hour late due to "plane arriving late" - LATE. Dec 10 NBO to Johannesburg was an hour late due to "technical difficulties" - LATE. All 4 flights were at least an hour late leaving and arriving yet the pilots all said thanks for flying Kenya Airways - the Pride of Africa. This is what Africa should be proud of ?!? and Kenya Airways is proud of ?!? Passengers I talked to all were negative in their comments about Kenya Airways. All said there is ALWAYS something of a problem on a Kenya Airways flight. Lady on NBO to EBB flight next to me as we boarded plane and I said everything has gone smoothly so far, replied - the flight isn't over yet - and then we sat in the plane for an hour while they "removed passengers luggage". A man in NBO departure area as we waited to board JNB late flight said, the procedures and organisation are terrible with problems most of the time, which was why he was using up his reward miles because he didn't want to fly Kenya Airways again. This is the culture of this airline which is allowed to continue with seemingly no regard for the paying customers. If the powers that be such as the FAA, imposed a $100 credit to each passenger for late leaving or arriving, I would have received $400 back on a ticket that cost $750. Maybe the airlines would do something practical to remedy their problems and care for the paying customers rather than just saying "we are sorry for any inconvenience "."

They gave us a departure time 4 hours after our original departure time (1:20 am). 1:20 came and went without any more communication or information. 1:40 am arrived and someone from KQ showed up at our gate and said they do not have any additional information. We said there are children here and hungry, tired, frustrated people. We suggested they distribute waters or snacks, but that never happened. They just kept telling us they didnt know when the flight would take off (or if it would) nor when they would have any additional information. An hour later they made one announcement over the speaker at our gate that our flight was boarding at another gate. However, many people had fallen asleep on the floor as I had and I would have missed it if one of my fellow passengers hadnt woken me up to say that we were boarding. We then sat on the tarmac a while longer for reasons that were not explained and finally landed 7 hours later than scheduled. Very little effort was put into communicating to us, making our wait comfortable nor apologizing for the inconvenience. It was a very frustrating experience."
