In fact, there was one time in which I asked for some water in a long flight (because they dont offer from time to time as other companies do, and I was truly polite in my request) and the guy from the crew told me 'please go and fetch'. I had to point these two huge guys sleeping next to me I had no relation with (I was at the window seat) for him to realize that he was being ridiculous."

Pros: "I used the prime lounge in Istanbul and when it was time to go, I was able to practically walk on the plane without any wait. The seats were comfy and didn't have a ton of legroom but it wasn't bad. The staff we're friendly and helpful. The in-flight entertainment had a pretty impressive selection and had one of the best-designed interfaces I've seen so far (and I've ridden a variety of airlines). Last and most important, the food was hands down the BEST I've had on a plane. Turkish is killing it, they're my new go-to airline!"

Pros: "It was a 12 or 13 hour flight and except for sitting too much we were never uncomfortable. The service level made me think we were back in the 80's. Hot towels, attentive service, tons of food and free drinks. There was actually one meal that we would have eaten even if it wasn't on a plane. They gave out full size blankets and pretty fluffy pillows. (I bring our own anymore, because you never know if you will get one on most airlines, and if you do they're usually useless). Their entertainment system was amazing. We caught up on all the recently released movies that we've wanted to see for FREE! If only Netflix had this quality of movie offerings. They had fresh flowers in the huge bathrooms. It's that type of attention to detail you just really don't see anymore."

Pros: "I loved being able to stay in Istanbul for a while. We had a great time during the layover, and the flight was incredible. The entertainment was top notch, and the food was as well. They had delicious olives and cheese on most meals, and the hot food had great use of tomatoes and umami to add taste to the meals. It has been a great experience traveling on Turkish Airlines, and I would suggest it for everyone."

Cons: "The pre-boarding experience was bad and at times a little arrogant as well. I boarded Turkish three times, once in San Francisco, second in Istanbul and third in Barcelona. While the experience of boarding the flight was good in Barcelona, the crew sitting at the flight information desk in Istanbul and the crew sitting on the counter wasn't very helpful and plain arrogant at times. This was the crew providing information in Istanbul: Me: Hi, could you please tell me the meal plan selected for my next flight? Crew: (shouting) You dont have a connecting flight hence no meal is provided to you. What are you doing here you should be at your terminal immediately. Next!! (I was 8 min away from my terminal and asking this question 30 minuted before my boarding time). After handing her my passport, this was the lady who greeted me at the check-in counter in San Francisco: Lady: Is Istanbul your final destination Me: Actually I have flights from Istanbul to Barcelona and then later to (interrupted) Lady: Sir, your final destination is Istanbul (harsher tone). Me: (Not sure what to make out of that information) Could you check because I have booked some more flights later. Lady: (laughing at me now) Do you understand what I said, your flight destination is Istanbul. Lady: (Now I was a little angry because of the language and the tone) Ok whatever check me in. She now starts processing my check-in. Suddenly starts smiling to the other passenger on my right. Gets up starts talking to them. Comes back after a couple of minutes. Then she checks the other flights Lady: You have a flight after two days to Barcelona. Do you have a visa for that? Me: Yes. And then we just leave without saying anything else. I later found out what she meant. Rule says I have to check-out my bags whenever I have a flight after 24 hours and therefore my final destination was Istanbul. There was a better way to tell us about this for sure."

At one instance I was locked in the washroom as the door was not opening from inside, until I had to call the attendant. Entertainment options were limited. Food was below average. In one of my meals I got opened and melted butter. Cabin crew was not responding to the calls when I needed water. I finally got it after ringing 4 bells and 45 minutes. Overall, a terrible experience and would not choose to fly with Ethiopian again."

Cons: "The experience from the airport to the plane to Lome was beyond troubling. If ever you are flying internationally from NYC, never fly from Newark New Jersey. Nevertheless, upon boarding the Ethiopian Airline flight to Lome that was supposed to depart at 9:15 pm, the courtesy of the flight attendants was a bit mundane. My mother and I sat on the plane for about an hour after the time of the depart before inquiring why we have no moved and the doors were closed. The flight attendant responded with, "We shall be moving shortly." The air conditioner was barely on. My mother is battling stage 3 Cancer and is an older woman so, I feared for the safety of her health in such a condition. About 30 minutes passed, and we inquired again. This time with a different flight attendant and she said she just did not know what was going on. Other people on the plane began to panic in a sense as well because like my mother and I, they too had a connecting flight to catch. The pilot did not inform the passengers of what was occurring. So, at this point, all passengers on flight ET509 had been sitting on the plane for an hour and a half. By the time we were sitting on the plane for 2 HOURS with the doors closed the pilot finally informed us that they were waiting for some paperwork. He did not apologize or give more information as to why we were sitting on the plane so long, with practically no AC, and weren't informed about when we would be pulling off. About 10 minutes later, the plane began backing up while people were still standing because they were restless with the wait especially when we had a 10-hour flight ahead of us. The pilot then got on the loudspeaker stating that we will be pulling in the air shortly and for the flight attendants to be seated. The pilot did not apologize for the inconvenience or state how long the flight would be or what time we would land in Lome, Togo. Once we were in the air, there were many safety hazards administered by both the crew and pilot. The seat belt safety information was not given, the exit areas in case of emergency were not discussed, what to do in case of an emergency, where certain equipment would be in case of illness or an emergency, and we were still not informed about the cause of the 2 hours and 15-minute delay. My mother and I consistently checked the flight tracker and it did not show the duration of our flight, our location while flying, no flight information was displayed and as hard working paying passengers we should have had all of the information and not have to continuously ask to get a slight answer. Also, I am a vegan and they did not have food for me. But there was a flight attendant who gave me extra fruit which I greatly appreciated. The flight coming back to Newark was decent, going was the major issue. I pray we are accommodated for these great inconveniences. Because to have spent almost $3,000 and receive this type of treatment is both saddening and disturbing to me."
