Honestly, best experience I've had with an airline in recent memory. Flight was on time, comfortable seats, snacks and entertainment was top notch.
Every experience was good except for the lack of comfort in those economy seats. I never had knee pain until that flight. Those seats are uncomfortable.
Nothing went smooth. From being threatened to pay $400 for omitting my middle name by agents in India or somewhere. In addition, I couldn't get an answer on how much a third bag would cost despite numerous calls to Lufthansa. Then I couldn't check in online because they wanted evidence of residency. I told them I have dual citizenship but that didn't help. Last but not least, my luggage didn't make it to my destination. I had Christmas presents that didn't get to family members on time. I also had to wait the entire day to have it delivered. I have never had such a bad experience with an airline. This is how you loose customers
I contacted both carriers months beforehand to change the cabin (booked in April) but to no avail (united asked to contact Swiss since it was their equipment, Swiss told me to reach out to united). So yeah… My seat was pretty worn down, legroom on 27K was more than enough, but still economy seating so, getting to know your neighbours was easy. According to ground staff, the flight was massively overbooked- and this showed. I ordered a gluten free meal beforehand (which was honoured) but for breakfast got a bread roll and croissant 🤷🏼♂️ The connection itself is great. Leaving SFO late PM to arrive at ZRH in the afternoon makes it easier to get re adjusted again. However, and since I’ve flown this connection a couple of times in the past, I will rather deal with one carrier only and include a layover on the east coast.
The food needs to be improved, up to the standard of the people and the accommodation.
Did not like the seat spacing. The seat was very narrow and tight.
The weather caused a delayed but I was impressed how United did everything they could to try to get us out which included bussing us to the plane doing a Hardstand and bringing us to the plane since the fog was too thick to tow the plane from the overnight stay in the cargo area.
I had very little time to change planes originally in Denver after my flight from Omaha. I had an hour and a half layover in Denver originally and my flight leaving Omaha was delayed an hour because they had to change a tire, which I can understand. When I reached Denver my other flight was late, fortunately, but I still had only 10 minutes to run about a mile through the airport to get to my flight. Again, fortunately, I am a healthy 71-year-old and was able to accomplish this feat. However, the stress was more than necessary to bear.
Seat 14K (business class) had no cushion / would not inflate. It was like sitting on a stone bench the whole flight. Sleeping was impossible.
