A l'enregistrement à punta cana il a fallut négocier pendant une heure et demander à parler à un responsable car la personne voulait nous faire payer nos deux bagages en soute 200 dollars alors qu'ils étaient compris dans notre réservation. Cela nous a fait perdre du temps avec notre petite fille de 3 ans. L'escale de 2h à New York est trop courte, les files d'attente sont très très longues pour le contrôle des passeports et aussi pour la douane. Il a fallut négocier avec beaucoup de personnes pour demander à passer devant, et aux États-Unis cette pratique n'est pas du tout appréciée, et tout ca avec ma fille dans les bras. Nous sommes arrivés 30 min avant le décollage àla porte d'embarquement, juste au moment de d'embarquer, mais le vol a finalement été retardé d'une heure. Et enfin nous avions demandé à été placés ensemble côté hublot, à l'enregistrement on nous a dit oui évidemment mais au premier vol on était même pas à côté ( il a fallut négocier encore une fois) et au deuxième nous étions dans la rangée du milieu. Bref ce voyage retour à été très stressant et épuisant !

Drinks = gratis, and crew was exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to make flight as pleasant as possible."

Apart from the delays in terms of departure times, the airline experience was so bad, given the medical incident from a passenger sitting at the back of the plane. I was so close to it, and was utterly disappointed by the failure of the cabin crew to control passengers from overcrowding the sick passenger and allow the crew to administer the necessary medical intervention. It all amounted to compromised safety at 30000 feet, and seriously more training on the part of the airline is required in this regard. The other issue I realised is lack of cleanliness and care on the part of cabin staff, with one lady spilling food next to where I was sitting and ignoring the incident completely. I had to ask another to intervene and for which only superficial help was rendered. This is not what I expected, but this is what I got and speaks volumes to a cabin crew which is all female, mature/elderly, and expected to be more hands on to problems of this nature. The food is terrible in economy class, with options very limited. I opted for chicken, but did not know that it had curry in it, so I could not eat my meal further, and so no need to ask for the vegetarian option.
For a 7.5 hour flight you would expect more snacks and drinks to be handed.
Our 16-year-old daughter's flight from Newark - Louisville Monday night was cancelled. Originally, United rebooked her on a 5am flight through Chicago. After traveling internationally already for 24 hours, this was not a good option. (Where she would stay until 5am was a separate question altogether). I called and asked for her to be booked on a 1pm direct flight Tuesday instead. At first, the agent told me "no because there was only one seat in first class available." Eventually, after understanding the full situation, she booked her on the flight. Being a minor, we greatly appreciate United allowing her to fly direct rather than having to take a fourth flight to get home. Two other minors traveling with her were also able to get on this flight as stand-bys. In situations like this, it shouldn't matter what kind of seat is available (first class, coach, etc) . Fortunately, United did the right thing and allowed all three kids to get on the direct flight and not have to be on the roads at 3am to get to the airport. Thank you.

Then, at computer kiosk in Frankfurt, they had a wrong diagram of the plane,as we ended up on what turned out to be a no-recline row which I would never get. I'm 6'2", 230lbs, and wasn't able to sleep on that flight. Had I been able to reserve a seat behind a bulkhead or in exit row 2mos in advance, I would have been fine."
