Cons: "The alliance of Air Canada with South African Air is a poor relationship in Johannesburg that requires better instructions for travelers. The protocol that was required was to check luggage at one terminal and then go to an adjacent terminal to go through security. This is manageable, but airport information did not explain it correctly and one had to know that they were flying South African and not Air Canada. It caused no serious problem for me as I had ample time, but I got tired dragging my luggage around as I worked out the protocol."

Cons: "The flight delay I experienced added 8 hrs to a 24 hour journey and despite assurances in Joburg from Lerate Lempe that I would be allowed access to the lounge at JFK airport, all I got was a 25 USD voucher in a rubbish restaurant in the terminal. Most of the customer service was poor (including the young lady who didn't take it upon herself to suggest next steps after informing me of the flight delay - her apparent lack of concern about that and time taken to rebook me a new flight was beyond belief). The food was substandard (quality and quantity given the 14hr journey) and in-flight entertainment didn't work for a couple of hours. The queues at JFK were slow moving, unnecessarily long and your people did not seem concerned with the fact that passengers had to stand in line for an hour at least to check in. To top that off, because your airline does not have the body scanners mandated by the US, all passengers had to have a secondary body search at the gate. Sufficing to say, SA Airways, you are being left in the dust by BA and Emirates."

I won’t book British airlines again for international travel, I’ll stick to emirates."

Upon complaining at arrival in London (there was no time at LAX to deal with this, as usual that airport was one chaotic mess) we were given a British Airways business card with a phone number that did not work/had been disconnected. I would like to get the $100 reservation fee back. Thank you."

Cons: "The BA crew at the check in needs improvement. BA has different standards from other carriers that make it confusing. Bag sizes for on board carry on luggage accepted by other carriers are not accepted by BA. So you can fly in with one carrier and then BA says that the bag cannot go on the flight. In a different flight our flight was cancelled and rescheduled to the next day. I have been trying to find out how to get compensated for this as it says on their website and have not been able to do that yet."

When we arrived in Nairobi they hardly apologized for the delay, and also insisted on sending a bus to come pick us up from the plane because it was raining, which took forever. Missed my connection by about 5 minutes and had to wait almost 10 hours for the next one."
