Boarding / ground crew appalling. - messed up Signage for priority vs normal queues. Reversed it by placing signage incorrectly. - when advised of their error, they argued with passengers. - then asked for the “priority” queue to board after having being told the queue was the normal queue. Wrong queue. - then fought with the passengers who were asked to board from that queue because they weren’t priority customers!! Shocker!

Crew was really excellent and price was great.

Good, efficient boarding. Very cramped, uncomfortable seat with thin padding. Hot aircraft, no individual vents to try and source own airflow. Air hostess didn’t know the difference between a receipt and a credit card transaction slip.

Great experience I really enjoyed flying with SAFAIR and looking forward to the next flight.

Cons: "When your company proposes flight which goes through Thailand, it should be clearly advised that there will be a visa that needs to be bought while going through the Thai immigrations, we spent around 14,000 Thai Bhats while incoming and outgoing. Very dictative country, I will never ever fly again through Thailand with Air Austral, I would prefer paying another Rs.10,000 to emirates and have a better service. The Hifly company that operated the flights from RUN to BKK and back, was a disaster, very uncomfortable and really bad service."

Wanted to get food at airport in Reunion as we got to Reunion at 8:25 pm and had left home (to get to airport in Antananarivo at 2:30 pm, were only served a small snack on flight - it was only 1 hour long), but there was no ATM in the terminal and the only place serving food did not accept international credit cards."
Cons: "Arrived 20 - 25 minutes late on connecting flight Air Austral from Johannesburg. But the real problem is transfer at St. Denis - worst ever encountered. There is only one security station in a cramped stuffy area ... staffed by 8 slow, useless and unfriendly people. The technology must be outdated, because although your cabin bag, laptop case etc. is scanned, before scanning every bottle (no matter how small ... even 50ml or 100ml), makeup etc. is manually searched for then taken by hand and scanned in a separate device. Also any duty-free in a sealed pouch is taken, opened, then re-packed in a new IDENTICAL pouch and sealed !!!aaarrrrggggh?? Do this x 100 passengers (all travelling to Port Louis from Johannesburg via Saint Denis) and your Air Austral scheduled 1 hour transfer time is a joke ... with this frustrating process they need 2.5 hours minimum. Coupled with Air Austral late arrival of 20 minutes departed about 80 minutes late. The joke of it is the plane from Saint Denis to Port Louis is the same plane as used for Johannesburg - Saint Denis leg ... so why disembark the 90% passengers going to Port Louis at all ... leave them on the plane and only disembark those few for Saint Denis."

I could only hear voices when I held the headset cord in one position, and it was difficulty keeping it in that position for an entire movie."

Seated a super sized human in middle seat; this person could not even open the tray fully. Overflow several inches into my seat. Made for a very uncomfortable last 2 hours of a long journey."

Due to a delay on my connecting flight from Kigali to Nairobi, I missed my flight to JFK and had to stay in Kenya for a full day, shortening my already brief trip. I do not know what caused this delay other than Kenya Airways staff having seemingly no urgency to get us off the ground. On my return flight to Kigali a delay attributed to “operations” increased my layover from 8 hours to 12 hours. On top of the scheduled delay we were delayed an additional hour because boarding did not begin when it should have. I was also less than impressed with the movie selection on the plane. I will not be flying with Kenya Airways again and now understand why they were the cheapest option!"

Cons: "Kenya changed my flight to two hours later 18 hours before I was to leave. Making me have a 10 minute connection. Then after an hour in a airline office they promised to hold my connection. When my flight landed on time, they did not hold my connection. So they changed my flight and didn’t follow through on the fix. We would now miss wedding activities and business meetings. Then my partner got sick and they refused to taxi us to hotel for the night but take a bus that leaves every three hours. Her sickness got worse and there was a Kenyan airlines doctor who evaluated her at the airport after waiting 40 minutes laying at check in with her crying due to pain. We had a medical release from the doctor saying she needed extra space to lay down but the check in manager refused to make room for her saying the flight is full and she would not upgrade her to accommodate the medical release because we had an economy ticket. My partner looked so bad that the flight crew considered kicking us off but eventually made the space for her to lay down and were helpful on the flight. This is this disgraceful and the worst experience I’ve had with any company."
Pros: "Trip on the Dreamliner to/from Nairobi/Joburg went very smoothly. Entertainment was limited but worked and was fine for a 4 hour trip. Food was nothing great but nothing disastrous, booze was handed out willingly, staff were efficient, plane was on time - I rate it higher than SAA for the same leg and would choose KA again."

Boarding was completely chaotic, some screens said the flight was delayed, others said it was on time (it was delayed). When we arrived in Nairobi they hardly apologized for the delay, and also insisted on sending a bus to come pick us up from the plane because it was raining, which took forever. Missed my connection by about 5 minutes and had to wait almost 10 hours for the next one."

Though the food was very good ,I think the portions were too big. It was hard to manage everything on that small table. And you really don't feel like eating too much on a long flight. Just a suggestion and it would save you some money too.

Poor inflight movie selection

Cons: "Crew told me to wait while they eat their meal (on a 4.5 hour flight?) headphones get cleared 20min before landing but all the rubbish gets left on your tray table. delayed departure because the plane was being cleaned, i think if they cleared the rubbish in flight then perhaps it wouldn't be so dirty. Also no information provided as to why the boarding was 30min delayed (COMMUNICATION!)"

Cons: "Inflight entertainment could be much better. Not much choice of films, particularly latest ones. Headsets very uncomfortable and sound quality poor."
Cons: "General lack of concern for passengers. The kids in the seats next to me had screens that weren’t working and they wouldn’t even try to fix them. despite the fact that the water was there, when I declined the meal but asked for something to drink they refused until later."

Cons: "Flight was delayed all throughout. Plane was old and uncomfortable compared to other Air Mauritius planes I’ve used. Food really bad I did Not enjoy this flight whatsoever Missed my onward connections"

Cons: "Delayed 3hrs with no information just apologies. Toilets onboard not clean and leaking. Several trays broken. Coffe/Tea served by pouring over customers rather than tray with cup. Safety information only shown when landing. Staff bumped isle passengers several times (me 4 times) with no apology. Chaos in serving dinner as special meals and vegetarian meals sent to wrong seats."
Pros: "I sat onseat 8c on this old Airbus 319 and my knees were killing me so little legroom. Im only 1.78m"
Cons: "Take out one row and give cattle class a little bit mor space please. I already have deep vein trombosis from flying."
Cons: "The quality of the entertainment hardware system is rather old and out dated as opposed to most other long haul airlines I’ve sat on which I really think Air Mauritius should consider upgrading. It’s the only airline that I don’t even bother using their entertainment system at all."

Cons: "Interesting to see that they use the older plains to routes to "not so developed" countries, where they seem to account China. On other routes, the airline seems to be using much better plains with better overall service. I will surely avoid use this airline on flights from / to China."

Cons: "IT WAS 13 HOURS LATE!!! Made me miss an important dinner, lost opportunity to sleep before an important day of conference meetings, and missed a breakfast meeting as well. Valuable time was lost due to this absurd delay. Seats were small. Won't rely on Air Mauritius again."

Cons: "The entertainment on the flight operated by Air Mauritius was not great. It was still old-fashioned and not interactive. The breakfast on Air Mauritius was not healthy at all and was extremely carby and sugary. It could do with some additional protein and less sugar. The vegetarian dinner could also have done with some additional protein."

Cons: "Seating is quite cramped, I am not a tall person but couoldn't get comfort with the space between seats. Anyway, the crew requested passengers to straigthen up their seat during meal-time which was a bit of relief. Breakfast was mediocre - one bread with hot drink after 6 hours inflight. Crew provided excellent service though through offering additional drinks."
Cons: "Boarding took much time than average and the anouncement was confusing. Some people are still at the registration desk while the speaker annouce "last call to passengers". There was a lack of coordination which makes passenger felt nervous."

Cons: "We continued our journey from Mauritius to Reunion, and given the quite small plane, Air Mauritius deliberately left one of our suitcases (and a few others of other passengers) behind. This was then only brought to our hotel the next day at noon (36 h late). Very annoying, as they didn't tell us beforehand (then, at least we could have packed some essentials in our hand luggage)."
Pros: "Air Mauritius was a pleasent surprise. The aircraft was clean and the staff wasattentive. The biggest surprise was they served a meal on the short midday flight and that meal was delicious."
