Cons: "Before I start my complaint I would like to say that my family and I had 6 emirates flights this year and 5 of those flights were very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our traveling with emirates but this 1 flight came out to be the worse flight of my life. I made online check-in and chose our seats and all was successful but when we reached the airport and I opened my app, it displayed that online boarding pass was not available. After moving slowly in a long queue, when I reached near boarding counters, an official checked my name in a list and informed that there was some new tax applied on us and thus I had to visit counter 5 or 6 to pay that tax. We joined the queue of counter 5 but it was not moving at all and I noticed some people being served at counter 5 who were not in the queue, thinking that counter 5 might take longer, I joined counter 6 queue where there were only 1 family and 1 passenger ahead of me, for next half hour we stood there but that queue didn't move. Finally after some time another counter called me, he confirmed that I had made online check-in. We were given boarding passes and were asked to wait for tax processing, After another 15min, we were given all papers and were requested to move to the immigration counter. After immigration when we were going through final security check, the emirates official asked me to hurry up, I showed him that the security process was going on in front of him, upon that he asked why I was late to airport, I informed him that I made online check-in and I was required to be there 90min before the flight but I was there 150min before the flight and it was in front of him how long the tax processing took, upon that he said that I should have been at the boarding counter 240min before the flight and that I should be aware of the facilities at the airport (although it was my 1st time there). I had not made any complaint on what had happened so far to anyone and I was not rude to anyone although I was with my wife and 1.5 years old son who was crying coz of warn weather and thirst, we couldn't provide him with water coz we were standing in queues all the time. But hearing such comments from Emirates official were quite unbearable but still I stayed calm and reached at the gate. When I handed over the boarding passes, I was told that my boarding pass was missing and I was quickly blamed by emirates officials that either I reached there without a boarding pass or I had lost it. When they checked in their system it showed that I was already boarded, I understood that they gave my boarding pass to someone else but they kept on saying that I had lost it and also informed the same to plane crew, then they made a manual boarding pass for me and let me pass the gate. We were the last passengers to enter the plane. When I reached at my seat, there was someone else sitting there, upon taking attendant's help, it was discovered that the passenger sitting there had my boarding pass."

Qantas does not honour the e-ticekts from Emirates and will NOT allow you to preselect seats online. You have to hope for a good seat at airport checkin. Too bad, as I would have been prepared to pay extra for a seat upgrade."

The crew seemed a little disorganised. The adverts on the entertainment were annoying."

Cons: "This is my fourth time booking Emirates for my route through kayak. The route is longer but I choose it for on-board Internet for work emails. Generally, they have on-board WiFi Internet, however for my return route of 21 hours both flights had no wifi which was disappointing. This is unprofessional because if you are planning on having WiFi to respond to work emails and it is not available once you are already in the air there is nothing you could do but get stuck. Never does this happen with Lufthansa, Turkish, Etihad. Disappointing."

Cons: "This seemed far different from emirate flights that I'm used to. Over the years their service has decreased but the 1 meal and sub-par snack I got for an 8.5hr flight was poor, likened to a budget airline. This is the second flight recently I've been on that the drinks come so long after the meal you don't even get to enjoy your cola with the meal. The first food cart should have colas if there won't be another cart to come along until 30+ minutes later. I also expected Emirates to provide an eye patch, an 8 hr+ flight in the night time hours in worthy of an eyepatch. Budget airlines do not provide this, but I expected Emirates to. Lastly, I don't think it's necessary to hand out a menu indicating there is something to look forward to when the food is of quite poor standards for Emirates, standard for all other airlines. Maybe the Durban to Dubai route stocks he flights with less experienced crew, this is the impression I got; a much less refined group of people on the plane."
Cons: "Crew woke us up to ask us if we wanted food. I've only ever been woken up before for safety reasons (seat belts, etc) We were not impressed with the arrival in Dubai. We came in a large plane and had to deplane very far from the terminal onto buses, down a long set of stairs. They did not send enough buses so we waited on the hot outside stairs for about 15 minutes. It took us a full 45+ minutes from landing to get to the actual terminal. We were grateful we had a long layover or we would not have made our connecting flight!"

I was very disappointed about her comment. Even worst, to see how inconsiderate she was and how she did not even considered if this gentleman could read, or did not have his eyewear. I believe her comment was unnecessary and inappropriate at the time. I could not quite get her name, but she does not need to deal with the public."

They told me that a new airport in Islamabad had become operational and my flight could be from the newer airport. I went to the new airport but I was late for boarding because my time was wasted in going first to the Benazir International Airport and then rerouting to the new airport. Fortunately the fight from Islamabad to Qatar was delayed and I was able to make it to the boarding and flew from Islamabad to Doha."

The passengers of economy class and business class were all stacked in the same space (it looked more of a hangar...) Access to this space was only possible by stairs (No elevator - No escalator !!) No drinks offered, not enough chairs to sit and wait......etc The main blame is to put on Geneva Airport Authorities. This airport is a total mess From the moment one arrives at the airport area (access - parking - ..) till the moment of boarding... It should be boycotted by major and quality companies such as Qatar Airways and many others."

He broke my carry on bag the crack was the pull grip piece that attached for the bag to lean when pulling broke in half. I have not even had the bag for 6 months and he broke it and took no accountability for it. No one cared or showed any attempt to apologize."

I was the second last person to board the aircraft because there was a long queue at Passport control with only one officer for a prolonged period. The man at the final boarding checkpoint, insisted that i was late because of shopping, and insisted on me catching a new flight the following day. He said that they had already filled up the plane with Stand By passengers, and my bags had already been off loaded. I had to beg him to allow me to board, and eventually he did. About 10 minutes after the scheduled departure time, the captain announced that they were waiting for one more guest, and the flight actually left about 20 minutes later then schedule anyway. This series of evens led me to believe that the man at the boarding gate was trying to elicit a bribe from me."

MOSTLY I DID NOT LIKE that --when I insisted I must return to the plane to get the cell phne I left and KNEW where it was left-she insisted that SAA wold send it to CApe Town and I could get it there. She claimed she phoned the flight attendants to send it on. I learned this is NOT how SAA does it and I never got my phone. I do thikn, perhaps, someone who saw it called and--being it was still with SAA I think THEY went and climed it for hemselves. I did NOT think SAA accepted enough information from me and no info at first. My phone looked just like an I-Phone. It had a rubber purple back cover on it. MOST of the entries were face painting designs that I NEED. I do NOT think SAA had the passenger who got it 10 days later in Johannesburg was aasked what was programed into it. I did NOT think the reps in lost and found were knowledgable or efficent when I spoke with them several times."

At one point we compared the same crew member's behavior toward a business class passenger and it is evident the crew member did not think economy passengers worthy of minimal courtesy and respect. Someone had thrown up on the plane in a seat near us early on the flight and there was a terrible smell on account of the passenger not disposing of her air sickness bag. When we asked the crew for help in kindly reminding passengers to dispose of their airsickness bags, if used, they were very dismissive rather than helpful."

After that everyone just piled on board in no order. The elites were able to skip through and avoid dealing with the riff raff."

In this one, we arrived at the airport and although we had a confirmed reservation code, our flights had not been paid, so there was not place for us on the plane. We had to reschedule everything and pay again all the flight in the airport. A disaster! And the flights also were terrible, all the flights were delayed, the landed was so abrupt. The plane landed in another airport because it didn't have gasoline, so, we arrived 2,30 hours late. All was awful, since the booking to the flight! Kayak has declined the quality of their service in recent times. Actually, today would not recommend anyone buy on this platform."
Pros: "That the flight was nonstop direct and the leg room in economy was very good."
Cons: "The entertainment system was terrible with both poor screen quality and single sided audio. You could barely understand the dialogue and needed to hold the head phones to your ears. Food was bland with poor presentation. We also received a meal at the start and end of the 15 hour flight with nothing offered in between. Seat cushions need to be replaced."
Pros: "The seats were way more comfortable than the first (and longer) leg of the trip. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive."

Pros: "Simple, efficient and generally courteous. Timely. Especially the captain's approach to his service on such a long flight, through his soothing words to his passengers and crew. Kudos to him and the crew."
Cons: "Nothing that I disliked. Just couple of suggestions. 1. The wait between the meal upon leaving Joburg and the breakfast upon approaching JFK is TOO LONG, especially for some elderly ( if you review passenger list, you will be surprised how many were on my flight). Does not have to be more than some healthy snacks, but would be joyfully received. I know there is something available in the rear galley, but more fruits, cut up and offered in packs. SOUTH AFRICA is the country of fruits, after all. 2. Someone has done a rather poor job of selecting Indian music. Overemphasis of South Indian ( Tamil). Even the Bollywood selection (too small) is mostly out of mainstream, neither popular with young nor the elderly. If you write me, I would happily explain. Whoever is in charge does not appear very aware of your Indian passengers needs/wants. Thank you for the opportunity to help improve your service. Best to SAA."
