10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, reasonable, convenient comfortable beds, easy access and parking
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Super clean, comfy beds.
Cons: Continental breakfast was weak, should have told us friendly's on the property had half off breakfast every week day.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: Found a roach inside of the room I was staying in.
7,0 Good
Pros: I came into the motel late at night in the rain and left at 4:00 am still in the rain. I appreciated having a few hours of respite from my trip. I didn't interact with anyone, nor did I see the place as it was pitch black night and raining heavily. The room was clean. Thank you.
Cons: I would have preferred down pillows or soft foam pillows on the bed; however, the bed was comfortable and everything was clean.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Large, clean room with frig, quiet a/c, other amenities. Decent breakfast. Convenient location.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The desk staff was very professional, cordial, and welcoming! We really enjoyed the privacy but that would likely be different if this stay was not in the off season. The facility buildings bordered a wooded area that provided a great view during the morning snowfall, very picturesque. Though the facility appears to have been built many years ago the rooms were very up to date. It was obvious that the owners were very savvy about making upgrades and making them look like they fit the room. Very clean room, nice furnishings, comfortable beds, nice flat screen, and well priced.
Cons: Having to leave after only one night and that we had not found this fine establishment before this stay!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Quality of all the help first rate
Cons: I paid seven dollars a night extra for a couch. They have no couches so I paid extra money for nothing
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice large rooms with comfy beds. Convenient location for celebrations in Old Sturbridge Village
Cons: Let down by all the disposable items. In room, there were paper cups for hot drinks, wrapped in plastic, and plastic glasses. Breakfast was on card plates, with paper cups, and cereals in pre-packed plastic bowls. This felt really cheap and nasty, we only bothered with breakfast one day it was such a dismal offering, eaten in a cramped room behind the office. Please invest in a dishwasher and some crockery, and make the stay far more pleasant and better for the environment. Also the payment system is awful and confusing
7,0 Good
Pros: Nice location. Lovely and quiet. Quick check in and easy to find room. Parking in front of room. Warm and comfortable with nice clean bedroom. Breakfast provided free in a nice area near the office. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.
Cons: Bathroom was old, tired and damp but clean. Rather small bathroom despite large bedroom.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was big, clean, well maintained, quiet and charming. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. A hair dryer, ironing board, iron and a safe were provided. The bathroom had two sinks and a large counter space.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was friendly and efficient. Lovely setting close to attractions-nice morning continental breakfast
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location only a few minutes drive from the brilliant Old Sturbridge Village. Very large room with coffee-making facilities and a fridge. All the lodges were built round a central green. Very pleasant.
Cons: The beds could have been bigger. The double was just a standard size.

5,0 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Elevator not working and even though I specified on the booking because my husband has a disability, we would need a first floor room, we were told the place was fully booked and all they had was a 3rd floor room.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Location was ok. However, the toilet in room 228 flushed once and then ran noisily all night and would not flush anymore. we finally left at 4:00 am as we could not sleep because of the noise. I wanted to tell the desk when we left but could not find anyone on duty. I think I should get at least a partial refund. Room 228, Oct. 19th, Mary Callahan

Pros: Location was great. Staff was great. Fire place room was soooo cozy. Fitness room was sufficient with cardio machines and free weights. The Restaurant had great food and a super friendly bartender.

Overview Reviews
The Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where good food comes out of our Yankee ovens and warm hospitality greets every guest.Ebenezer Crafts opened the Inn in 1771 as a gathering place for citizens of Sturbridge and weary travelers along the Boston Post Road. In 1923, the property was purchased as a boarding house for women and renamed The Elms. During the 1940's, then owner, Richard Paige, leased the property to the US Army as a post for soldiers en route for training. The Publick House, during this time, moved across the common to a large white house. Not one day has been missed in providing good hospitality in over 230 years.Since 1771, Publick House Inn has been the lodging and dining hub for esteemed visitors, from George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and General Lafayette to present day travelers, such as actors Bill Murray, Susan St. James and John Travolta. Today, the old world spirit continues welcoming guests with open hearths and Yankee hospitality. The dining room features an indulging array of duck, lamb, lobster, and other specialty meat and seafood dishes, including a traditional Thanksgiving fare available all year long.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The employees were very nice and I liked the room decor. Breakfast was nice as well.
Cons: Where our room was located. First floor on the end. Right outside was the parking lot and entrance to the building. Other guests were going in and out in the early morning hours slamming the door.
6,8 Good
Pros: The bed was surprisingly comfortable
Cons: The room was very outdated and smelled musty. We had to sleep with the sliding glass door open to air out the room. Manageable but not what I would have expected.
6,7 Good
Cons: Booked room and was put in the motor lodge building. Tied, old smelly! Not where I thought I would be - did companies and Alex to be moved to main in - better- front staff does need to place more focus on customers and stay off the phone as people are checking in
7,1 Good
Pros: The property is beautiful and very historic. We have stayed here often and loved it.
Cons: We were in the “ new” building. It was very nice except they seemingly forgot to insulate the walls!! Would definitely NOT stay in the “ new” building again, but would stay at the property.

Cons: Nah
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location to everything downtown.
Cons: Parking is a pain, but they make the best of it.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Located close to mechanics hall and DCU center.
Cons: Parking cost $12 and garage was across the street, so slightly inconvenient for moving luggage. Also walls were paper thin and I could clearly hear my neighbors in the adjoining room at 7am.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Nice lobby
Cons: A bottle of water was three dollars in the room, park I,g was twelve dollars across the street, no complimentary breakfast and there was a pounding till after 9pm heard throughout the floors, building a dance floor they said, should have been done earlier
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Cost of parking
9,0 Excellent
Cons: Parking is not ideal. Is across the street from the hotel. The street is busy and is difficult to cross with your luggage
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location near the DCU, perfect. Nice large room and bath. Mexican restaurant across street (Mezcal) gourmet, better than Mexico! Great overnight stay.
8,0 Excellent
Cons: Quick over night stay. A little noisy
5,0 Okay
Cons: The front desk staff who checked us in was unfortunately rude but everyone else was very pleasant and professional
5,0 Okay
Pros: The check in was easy and friendly.
Cons: I stay at a beautiful Hilton yearly in South Carolina- so I was a little surprised that this location was not up to the same standard. My room felt a little run down.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself was nice. It was fairly quiet, minus a couple door slams from inconsiderate guests. Very nice staff.
Cons: Do not eat at the restaurant (Uno). It was not edible. My wife and I feel like we were ripped off. The chicken chunks were so hard you couldn't cut them or Chew them. The meatballs were hard as a rock and tasted old. We threw away 90% of our order. It all tasted like week old leftovers that were microwaved on high for 10 minutes.
7,9 Good
Pros: Great location - attentive front desk staff.
Cons: Housekeeping did a sub-par job of prepping the room before our arrival - dust on picture frames, hair caught in the air conditioner vent, and a wad of unflushed toilet paper left in the toilet.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were recently renovated and were beautiful! The beds were very comfortable, room sparkling clean & the bathroom was clean and shower hot. This was next door to the property that we were attending a convention. We could literally walk to the convention hall and within walking distance to a few places to eat. I will definitely return next year!
Cons: No complaints!
7,0 Good
Pros: Location is very convenient. Price is right.
Cons: The hot water took 5 mins to heat up. The whole hotel should be non-smoking, or designate an outside location away from other guests rooms. Someone was chain smoking right outside my door. Had to speak to them.
7,9 Good
Pros: Convenient location and rooms were comfortable. Young lady at service desk was very accommodating after discovering issue with first room.
Cons: Several contractors out late at night talking, playing music from car and not very considerate of other guests. Does not seem to be monitored or addressed.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast included and it was good. Convenient location for ‘old Sturbridge’.
Cons: On a busy roadside. Motel -so guests parked outside the window of the rooms, fumes weren’t nice.
6,3 Good
Pros: Bedding was clean athough I would like there Tobe season color changes in both bedding covers and window arrangements.
Cons: The bathroom for some reason, there is no soap dish built into the showers. Secondly, make the tiles outside the bathroom tube a nonslip tile. This I believe was an oversight. Refrigerators in some rooms are dated and need to be replaced. A small desk storage are for these items are needed. The on in our room sat on the floor with the microwave on top... Desk chairs are broken, on some rooms you sit on the desk chair and it stinks to it's lowest level. This is due to two things, age and lack of quality control. New shower heads are need in all rooms, I suggest the want type with adjustable head settings. The application of water reducers on the heads of the shower and the sinks are important. This will increase water pressure while reducing water consumption costs.
7,0 Good
Pros: Refurbished, modern rooms and well kept establishment.
Cons: The hotel is on an intersection of a set of very busy main roads - not safe to walk anywhere and not many amenities in the surrounding area. Breakfast was a bit too basic.
1,0 Poor
Cons: Yes the fact that I booked a room with a jacuzzi and when I got there the two rooms were given to someone else when I booked in advance
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I stay here often. It's basic, but it's nice. It's clean, I never have to worry about bed bugs or mold.
Cons: The heat/AC unit in the room did not work properly. Someone broke the nob and thought using electrical tape was going to fix it. We had to use something to turn the lever underneath it to adjust the heat. But I've never had another issue here.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Free breakfast, small balcony overlooking lake
Cons: Dirty, strange remodeling such as windows painted over completely with white paint. Stains on curtains and chairs so we didn’t touch them, spiders with egg sacks on ceiling corners. Just kinda icky.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Bed were soft, well made, Wifi was spotty at times but worked well when there were no problems. Access to the rooms were easy and comfortable.
Cons: 1. Bathroom floors and tube are slippery when wet, they are asking for a lawsuit! They need to address this in all the rooms. Tiles are not the same for floors there is a slip index fo them which seems to have been ignored! Two bath towels should be at least 4 large bath towels in each room. Line color and drape treatment changes to match the seasons (4) It adds that sense of class. Update any room windows they are in neglect, change and heater that is not modern (some are looking neglected). The black desk chair in most rooms are so old that they refuse to stay up in the locked position without sinking down when sat in, replace these. Add a soda/drink snack vending machine. Replace the Washer Dryer with a combination system this way you could have 4 machines instead of only two for the whole complex. WATER REDUCERS and on shower and sinks heads to reduce water consumption. Place drains on a rotational cleaning. Many of the sinks back up I assume from shaving hairs act and the pipes not regally being cleaned /serviced. MAKE A RULE: All vehicles may NOT BACK INTO PARKING SPACES!!! (People start their cars to warm them in the winter months letting them idle) They don't realize that these fumes back up into the lower floor rooms!! We had this issue on more than a few stays... Enforcement of Quiet Hours needs to be observed. A notice to travelers about this issue is needed. We almost left the facility because of the loud party atmosphere during late hours. I think people come outside their room to smoke and forget there are people sleeping next to them.. In a short There needs to be a (QC) officer for the property. Charles.....
10,0 Excellent

Cons: N/A
8,0 Excellent

Pros: The hotel was clean with good location
Cons: Most hotels provide free parking I thought it was ridiculous 9 dollar a night Parking. Also I travel to worcester frequently and that was the first time for nine dollar charge
5,0 Okay
Pros: It seemed clean enough. The location was decent for where I needed to be the next day.
Cons: You have to pay $9 extra for parking. Everything felt old and dated: the clock radios were at least 10 years old - they had those cradles for gen 1 iPhones - no USB ports in the room. No free breakfast - $10 for eggs and coffee. Mattress was hard.Meh.

Pros: Location was ideal, right next to WPI. Check-in was friendly, efficient, professional, well done.
Cons: There was only a thin fitted bed sheet barely hanging onto the mattress. And no mattress cover. Had to ask housekeeper for an extra flat sheet to cover it. Only one small trash bin, low water pressure in shower, and sink drained very slowly.

Pros: The staff was extremely friendly.
Cons: I was booked for 2 queens the room had 1 king and a pullout full which was not very comfortable. The refrigerator didn't work but they took care of that problem promptly.1 of the 2 elevators was down the whole.

Pros: Staff and customer service
Cons: It is just sooo old.
6,7 Good
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. The shower water was nice and hot. The rooms were clean.
Cons: The facility infrastructure seems to be in distress. There are tears in the curtains, wallpaper peeling in the stairway, scuff marks in the stairway walls and the card reader at one of the building entrances did not work. The bathtub was semi-clogged though the staff sent someone to correct that problem right away. One day there was a disturbing noise on the other side of the wall during the seminar. It was as though there was active renovation going on. Speaking of which, the facility is in need of a complete makeover before it's too late.

Pros: beautiful and central location, very helpful and friendly staff, my daughter enjoyed the pool
Cons: There were a few ants on the bathroom floor

Pros: The pool and conference rooms were very nice!
Cons: The room was filled with stains (sheets, curtains, bathroom, walls, ceiling).
5,8 Okay
Pros: The location was fine although Sturbridge isn't what it used to be. A bit disappointed in the breakfast buffet because it said there would be a carving station and there wasn't. If we had known this we would have gone elsewhere.
Cons: Check-in. Even though we had made reservations a few months before hand-our room was NOT ready at check-in time and we had to wait an additional 30 minutes. Bathroom left something to be desired and the fact that they did not have a refrigerator and microwave in the room (it was an addition charge) was beyond wrong. Every decent hotel/motel includes a refridgerator/microwave in their rooms. Very, very disappointed overall.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location is terrific, right on a pretty pond, easy to get to and find off the highway. Staff was friendly, although not especially helpful or capable. Room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable.
Cons: Everything was a bit dingy and outdated. (The sign at the dining room stating "Hostess will seat you" must date back to when only women were hired as waitstaff.) Breakfast area was dark (bulbs out in ceiling fixtures didn't help), the food was mediocre, and the help barely competent. The bar area was too small to accommodate our group of six comfortably. There was a dog grooming convention going on at the hotel during our stay, and although it didn't bother us, other members of our party had to request a change of rooms because of barking, and we overheard many complaints from other guests. The staff seemed accommodating but didn't exactly bend over backwards to satisfy complaints.

Pros: Place was great no complaints
Cons: Would have liked a better deal on the room

Pros: Breakfast in the restaurant was awesome!
Cons: Our keys wouldn’t let us in the outside doors. Had to walk all the way around to the front door to get back into the hotel.

Pros: The hotel's staff excelled in customer service. The location is very convenient.
Cons: The restaurant adjacent to the hotel was a major disappointment. First of all, several items were no longer available, due to running out of the main ingredients. The service was very poor. When our food finally arrived, one had to be sent back because of it being cold. I could go on, but needless to say, it was the only negative aspect of our stay.

Pros: Great location - attentive front desk staff.
Cons: Housekeeping did a sub-par job of prepping the room before our arrival - dust on picture frames, hair caught in the air conditioner vent, and a wad of unflushed toilet paper left in the toilet.
