This is a lovely hotel with traditional tatami rooms (ones with more than 2 people). The room has a low lying table with legless chairs (traditional Japanese style). Stayed on the 3rd floor with a slightly obstructed view of the lake but it was pleasant enough. The property offers traditional onsen as well. The staff were great and efficient with both checking in and out. Buffet breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety of both Japanese and Western style foods. There is a small convenient store for traditional gifts, alcohol and drinks.
The buffet finished relatively early at about 8.30pm so might not suit some if used to eating late. More local information in English might have benefited the non-Japanese travellers.
Since this was our 3rd trip to this hotel, we were familiar with the facility and we especially enjoyed the Onsen.
We were quite disappointed at how much they have cutback on their buffet dinner. There is now a charge for the Hairy Crab and the raw (sashimi) tuna and salmon were not in abundance. There we only a slice of each (salmon and tuna) on a tiny plate.
Stunning location, great introduction to the Onsen experience, friendly staff
The dinner spread was fantastic. Choice paralysis will be the perfect words to describe it. From japanese wagyu beef to fresh sashimi, its all buffet style. Me and my mum enjoyed there dinner so much. They also have fireworks at 845pm at Lake Toya. Equally sumptuous was their breakfast too. We are spoil for choice again. For the price we paid, this hotel is totally worth it. Their public bath at 8th floor of the West building is cosy and they also have a massage chair there. The view of Lake Toya from window is excellent on a clear day. U will make no mistake by staying here.
The bathroom is too small.
- superb view from the room as it’s directly in front of Lake Toya - hotspring is amazing, esp the one on the top floor which offers an interrupted view of Lake Toya, a decent shampoo bar and skincare products are provided, heaven for ladies! - great location, just few steps walk to the lakeside - nice dinner and breakfast with a great variety of choices
- facilities may seem old and dated (we stayed in the central building), the even older eastern building is under renovation
