10,0 Excellent
Pros: We were met by the owner on arrival who took us on a tour of the property and then onto our room. The room was spacious and well lit. It included a refrigerator and coffee maker. There was a ceiling fan in the room. The bathroom was large and there were plenty of nice linens available along with complimentary toiletries. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was nice. Although conveniently located on the main highway through town, the road noise was minimal. Parking was available close to the room. There are several eating spots nearby that are a short drive but not walking distance. If you are looking for a relaxing stay close to the Sequoia National Park, then look no further than the Rio Sierra Riverhouse. This was not a problem for us, but if a traveler has some mobility issues, be aware that there are stairs which must be negotiated when going to the rooms or moving about the property. We hope to return and stay longer some day.

Cons: This is not a Lodge, these rooms are converted attics tiny rooms with a shared bath! The dirt on the stairs as you walk upstairs is a clue of what is waiting for you. Countless people have signed the guest book noting that they had no ideal that this is a Bed & Breakfast. This is a rip off, dirty small place! No TV in your room & you have to share a bathroom! My credit card was charged $250 & you will not be able to get you $$ back! Don't make the mistake I made! I left after seeing this, I didn't stay night, but still had to pay. $250 for a dirty attic converted tiny room! Hopefully I have saved someone some cash & stopped them from making a mistake!

Pros: The room was very spacious. The bed was comfy. There were plenty of pillows to choose from. The bathroom was very well lit and it has a make-up mirror. Had small breakfast offerings which were ok but pick-up hours were inconvenient.
Cons: The carpet was worn out. The dvd/vcr player was ancient. Had to ask how to get a movie to show up on the TV. The remotes were worn out too. Windows need room darkening curtains as the sunrise shines bright very early in the morning.
7,0 Good
Pros: The rooms were all 1 or 2 units to a building, which was nice. The grounds were beautiful, with lots of grass, flowers, etc., as well as sheep!
Cons: The breakfast was not great, even as a continental. There were several choices that required hot water, which was not provided; several juices, none of which were orange. They could do better with just a bit of improvement.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We just booked as a short overnight stay. We quite honestly weren’t expecting such a cozy place! We had our two kids with us and got lucky having the sheep right outside our back window which the kids loved! The little cottage itself was very nice space and comfortable. The breakfast was better than we thought too! We figured a small grab and go bite but there was oatmeal, bagels, pastries, fruit, granola bars, hot chocolate and a Keruig! We sat outside at the picnic tables for the best breakfast view we could have asked for & even saw a sheep have babies before we left!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine but on early morning in November it is a little chilly to have it outside...
Cons: Only one significant downside - very slow and interrupting internet

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Tesla EV chargers. Free charging overnight with stay.
Cons: Garbage trucks at 7:30am out the door.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Location - very very near to Sequoia NP entrance. Also by the river Kaweah.
Cons: I stayed in Room 2. The fridge hadn’t been cleaned out prior to my arrival. Carpets felt unclean underfoot. Neighbouring lodges/inns receive a discount at the Gatehouse restaurant but the guests staying at the Gatehouse do not. Restaurant opening times not adhered to.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great food and great breakfasts, lunch and dinners. Really surprised me at the high quality and care of preparation. They have a real kitchen and are serious about it. And the bar is really amazing - a world-class selection of spirits and beers with an amazing collection of Single Malt Scotch. All done with a generous pour and at reasonable pricing to boot. The view from the hotel restaurant is amazing - right on the river and hypnotically beautiful. The staff was super friendly and informative and the owner/manager, Kyle was someone who you would want to make your friend. As gracious and as involved as a host can be. We felt immediately welcomed. He called us late in the evening, around 10:00 PM the day before we were supposed to arrive but he was checking if we were ok and if we were arriving that night and were just running late. Apparently I had made an error and booked the hotel a day early. He said no problem and changed the booking to 2 nights instead of 3 and reversed the charge for the night I booked in error! He simply volunteered this without being asked. We had a problem with our hot water and he arrived in minutes and fixed it. However, the problem surfaced again the next day.
Cons: The place needs a bit of renovation and decorating. But it still has great charm and the nice feeling of a lodge rather than a motel/hotel.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location right next to Sequoia!

8,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very roomy with plenty of space to move around.
Cons: From our room, you could hear the traffic; however we were close to office to walk to for breakfast. Do not expect a hot breakfast, or very many choices in the area to buy breakfast. It's a small town with a pizza joint and a diner that closes at 9.
8,0 Excellent

Cons: The bathroom was gross: water and goop underneath the floorboards came up when you stepped on it, shower didn’t drain. Cockroach in kitchen

Cons: Shower had a problem with water drenaje system
2,5 Mediocre
Pros: The shower had good pressure and the water was hot.
Cons: TV did not have the regular network shows or any news programming.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: You can't get closer to the entrance of the park! The cabin was off to the side of the main building. Came with essentials for home cooking and toiletries. The living room was super comfortable to just lounge around and there were chairs outside to sit in to enjoy the morning coffee. Furniture is new and in great condition.
Cons: Wifi is sketchy, but given the location, it is expected. At least there is SOME connection :) We saw a mouse the first night we got there. Again, we ARE it the middle of the woods and we didn't see it again. (Mangement immediately got some traps and set them up) I would recommend to rip out the carpeting since there were a lot of stains.

Cons: The cabin was lacking towels in the kitchen and trash bins in the bathrooms.

Pros: Very close to Sequoia National Park entrance
Cons: The motel staff was not available. Check in procedure was not applicable. Key needed to be picked up at another hotel 10min away

Pros: We had several bugs crawling through our room. Hotel room just dirty. Even the towes washed we're filthy looking. The motel is just gross. Would never recommend. Even spoke with the front desk owner snad she looked at me like I was crazy when I explained.
Cons: It was gross. Do not stay there.
4,0 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Room was dirty My son had 3 bug bites , probably of flea or spider (??) the only thing good about the breakfast were the waffles ... nothing else . The last day we had breakfast with the lady of the front desk speaking over the phone loudly and with the speaker on, disrupting the peace we wanted to have in a place like that . Property was very worn out and not taken good care of... Last but not least and very important: the WiFi was poor ...
6,0 Good
Pros: The location was great, the room was decent.
Cons: Could have been cleaner. The shower did not consistently have hot water and poor pressure. There was a gross smell coming from the sink drain. Breakfast was not good. My key stopped working halfway through my stay.

Pros: great location outside of sequoia. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: Wifi was intermittent, would not rely on this for any future planning.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great people! It was worth the money. Simple but very nice. Way off the beaten path, but very good for the locality.
Cons: If you have trouble with stairs, ask for a ground floor room.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: It's so close to the park entrance, and our room had a balcony overlooking the river.
Cons: The room was comfortable enough. The old layout has the toilet crammed next to the wall-- not so good.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: EVERYTHING!!! Absolutely everything was spot-on and just perfect, the location, the accommodation, the peacefulness, the friendly level of service all combined together to make our (very) short stay there so memorable for us, so much so that we'll be looking to return on our next adventure in that area.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: friendly staff, location, breakfast baskets, fresh bean coffee
Cons: beds not so comfy
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is great. Breakfast basket is simple but with items you can take on a hike. The river in the back is beautiful and the fresh ground coffee in the bedroom outs awesome!
Cons: The water pressure on the shower.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The lodge was in a prime location for accessing Sequoia National Park, less than a mile from the entrance. There was very little traffic on the road out front and we fell asleep to the sounds of the river in back. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. There was a coffeemaker with fresh whole bean coffee and a grinder in our room, as well as a small refrigerator and microwave.
Cons: I would have liked coffee to be available in the office, already made. The breakfast baskets contained a can of juice, an apple, and a small muffin for each of us. I would have liked a yogurt or banana one day. A selection of breakfast items in the office would be a nice touch.
5,0 Okay
Pros: friendly staff, free breakfast, good wifi
Cons: noisy, outdated and no access to trails by foot
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The room was great with a huge private deck. The restaurant food and service was excellent (dinner and breakfast) and fairly priced. The river by the restaurant was gorgeous. The hotel is just outside Sequoia National Park gates so a great location if that is your destination.
Cons: The room had old green carpet which should be replaced by a (real, not plastic) wood floor to maximize the experience. Not a real big thing but worth mentioning. I would certainly stay there again.
