9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lots of things!! But the most important was the friendliness of the staff.
Cons: Something that could be improved: the lights in the room are too bright. In the evening it would be nice to just be able to have some "soft lights", it's much more relaxing. Also it wasn't possible to only turn on the light on the hall. When we did, it also turned on the lights in the room.

Pros: Great location. Staff very friendly and helpful.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast very nice and being able to eat it in the room made the start of the day more leisurely. Lovely view and very easy to walk downstairs to assess all restaurants.
Cons: The two flights of stairs are a problem ( we already knew about them ) so could present concerns to persons with disabilities as no lift . A few items this year were different . The curtesy tray was missing the sachets of coffee and only had two herbal teas provided. Cups were not washed and replaced clean on two days but left dirty . Midweek we returned from being out during the day and the floor had not been hovered and crumbs still everywhere under the table area. Towel taken as dirty but not replaced . Previously the hotel had scored high .

5,0 Okay
Cons: Room was pathetic Curtain round shower Too small to open suitcase
4,6 Okay
Cons: The initial introduction was very poor, could not unlock door was very embarrassed and fled. bathroom curtains were dirty, hand marks and blood, they tried to clean but it was a waste of time, they needed laundering. we tried to eat on the first night but told dining room full. We were told staff had walked out and they were running on very young and inexperienced staff, this was obvious. this was 5 star it felt more like 3. It was also Chateaux and Relais,.I have stayed in there hotels many times in the past all over the world, this was not close to what I would have expected and I feel it is time it was reinspected. there were many more [problems that I do not have time to go into, We stayed in 2 other hotels during our stay that were excellent and nearly half the price. my advise is to shop around and not get fooled into going for the supposed best because you can be caught out.

7,5 Good
Pros: The hotel was in a great location. Very close to walk to everything. Very clean and newly redecorated. Room was very quiet. We liked they had parking on site(extra charge, we didn't like). It was nice having an elevator so we didn't have to walk up three floors.
Cons: The room was very very small. Not much privacy in the bathroom. Not much room for more than one suitcase. Hard to find the hotel with GPS as street were all closed to traffic that GPS took us to. Had to park and walk into hotel to ask how to get to hotel by car. Only one way in and very complicated by car. They advertised AC but it didn't work as they controlled it centrally and had it turned off. The room was very hot with no AC so had to open window to get some air.

Pros: The charm of a beautiful old house
Cons: U have to pay for rental of beach towels Breakfast quite expensive and nothing special
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous property with gardens and history. Delicious and varied breakfast items. Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: A bit spread out and tricky to navigate at times, but that’s part of the charmk
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: No outdoor pool
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great ambience. The hotel was a complex of beautiful old villas. It made navigating the various buildings a challenge but that added to the charm. Good breakfast, cosy but expensive private parking was ideal for our 52-year-old Jaguar. The Isle de Re should be tackled out of high season. During the shoulder period (early September) it is still quite crowded but it is a charming place and we will be going back.
Cons: Getting lost.
7,5 Good
Pros: The location is very good
Cons: The room we were given had no air conditioning and was dark. The bathroom wasn’t really a bathroom but a separate toilet through a door next to the bed and the shower just had a curtain separating it from the bed. It all felt a bit cobbled together. To say it’s a four star hotel our room did not feel like this at all.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were super helpful. They gave us free champagne in the bar due to one of our birthdays and helped us get rid of a big spider in our room! Perfect location for accessing waterfront but very quiet
Cons: Air con wasn’t very good (we were in the lovely Loft room which was massive but in the attic so got very warm.
9,2 Excellent

Pros: A real Gem and very polite, helpful and professional staff. We actually arrived and did not realise we booked the wrong month by error, but the staff were so helpful and amended our booking and after a bit of shuffling they could accommodate us in the Garden Room which was EXCELLENT !!! Great location and rooms very clean and high quality. This is one of our Best Finds Ever. Thank You La Baronie.
Cons: There's nothing not to like.

Pros: This hotel is in the perfect location just a few minutes away from the centre, but far enough away to not be bothered by the crowds. Lovely hotel with beautiful pool. 10,0 Excellent
Pros: Really quiet, well located guesthouse, walking distance to the port and restaurants. Very helpful and pleasant staff
Cons: No car parking available- only available for self catering apartments
7,5 Good
Pros: The property was very small but we had a lovely garden to use when the weather was good
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location just a short walk from the port. Pool / garden area was lovely - with handy space to lock up bikes.
Cons: For the price paid, our studio was quite small - up two flights of stairs into a converted attic - however Ile de Re is quite an expensive tourist destination so it was probably fair overall
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The property was in a fabulous location, 2 min walk to the centre, an easy cycle to exit the town to the bike roads to all the other villages and beaches. The pool was perfect when arriving back in the afternoon. BBQs, beautiful private courtyard with table, chairs and lounges. Our room was larger than we expected. We had to pay 25€ extra a day for our kitchen to be unlocked, we were happy we paid for it made our stay so much easier after going to the fabulous markets. The only thing that let the room down was the over the to lighting, SO bright, it would have felt far more ambient with subtle lighting and bedside lights. We would recommend staying here as a perfect choice on Ile de Re.
Cons: Lighting
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely pool and gardens. Very convenient. Very well equipped room. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: N/A
7,5 Good
Pros: Great location, very reasonable cost, clean no fuss accommodation.
Cons: Some of the staff can be a but sullen and it may help if you can speak French I dont know. We had a broken shower holder for the whole stay, not major but a bit annoying. Do not forget your key they get very upset about this.
6,7 Good
Cons: When checking out we were being charged for a breakfast we didn't have. When I told the woman on reception she phoned the owner and put him on the phone to me. The owner argued and shouted at me on the phone insisting he had served us breakfast. We were asked to wait while the owner travelled to meet us. On his arrival he realised his mistake and apologised but I don't think there is any excuse for a property owner to shout at a guest and accuse them of lying.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: excellent self catering facilities, everything provided, place clean and well kept Receptionist, especially Claire really helpful
7,2 Good
Pros: All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our studio ,whilst a little small was well equiped and very clean.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Bedrooms have quality large beds with quality white cotton bedding, this old stylish building is decorated with contemporary furnishings and is spotlessly clean and has air conditioning. Just a short walk into town and the town beach. Receptionist was exceptional and went above and beyond to satisfy our family.
Cons: Our double bedroom (number 2) was just off reception and had a small window with no view, just another building. Parking was stated as available but was full with 6 cars, so we had to park on the street.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic welcome and check-in, very sympathetic and cordial receptionist. Stylish room, private parking, comfortable bed and bathroom.
Cons: Tiny room with all furnitures and equipment for 1 person, not for 2, e.g. 1 chair, 1 bedside lamp, tiny table.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Host helped us to keep our bicycles stored. Very welcoming. Lovely stay.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed Reception staff fantastic
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent

Cons: Absolutely nothing to dislike
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Le Manoir is in a good location a little away from the heart of La Rochelle. It takes 15 minutes to walk through the leafy park to the Vieux Port. The hotel is decorated with what I would describe as 'pared back' elegance, very plain and simple with stand out pieces of artwork here and there. Our room was compact but very comfortable with a large shuttered window overlooking the road. The lady on reception spoke excellent English and was most enthusiastic in recommending places to visit.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish property, in a convenient location
Cons: Our room was a bit on the small side, though others are available
9,2 Excellent
Pros: easy parking - very nice helpful staff - esp Silve - clean rooms

Pros: The ambiance at the hotel is terrific. It was quiet, sophisticated and chic.
Cons: It was perfect.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: An absolutely beautiful place, providing calm and privacy in the centre of a busy little town, with a green oasis of a garden and a pool to soothe and cool on the hottest days. With its small number of rooms it never felt crowded, though a no smoking policy would have been appreciated!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Breakfast buffet could have been more varied
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel in a perfect location near the centre of town
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location near the centre of St martin. Boutique feel - just 9 rooms. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely gardens. Attentive and caring staff. Highly recommend
Cons: Well, I suppose the charge of breakfast of €18 for coffee and pastries only - would be lovely to have a little more choice in that price, eg fruit
7,9 Good
Pros: Lovely decor and great staff
Cons: Pool area was too small for all guests to sit and use it .... air con did not work for the first night
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Villa Clarisse is an absolute GEM. The facilities, pool, garden, rooms and breakfast are all excellent, the Staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful and it is a stones throw from the port and centre of St Martin
6,3 Good
Cons: We didn't take breakfast because it costs Euros 28 each and just down the road at the harbour an excellent breakfast overlooking the boats, etc. cost Euros 7.50. How can you justify such a ridiculous price for bread, jam and croissants?! The room smelled heavily of damp throughout our stay which really hit you when you opened the door from outside in the fresh air.

Pros: Good location and nice staff
Cons: Huge problem with the air conditioning. It was 33 degrees and our air con kept resetting and switching off and resetting at 25 degrees! So we didn’t have a good sleep. Cons: The room was a little small and the view was of the car park . Deliveries at 7am woke up my children. Their seemed to be a constant engine noise coming from the building next door .
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very comfortable and has a unique location overlooking the Atlantic and yet very close to the centre of La Rochelle, which is within walking distance. It occupies a compact site, which means the rooms are small, but has been totally remodelled, with a very modern bathroom, and an outstanding view from the balconies. It provides an excellent breakfast which can be eaten while looking out over the boats sailing into the harbour. It also offers the opportunity to sit or lie on the Sun Deck and just relax. It was also delightful to see so many English programmes on the excellent wide TV.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Views, patio was breathtaking. Quiet hotel, easily walkable to dining place Le Mail, convenience store only 10 minutes walk. Felt very safe, enjoyed breakfast croissants the best we’ve had in France!
Cons: Room was not air conditioned and temperature was hot
7,5 Good
Pros: The Terrasse and breakfast
Cons: The mattress, I could feel the springs. Need to be renewed
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay on my way back home
Cons: Nothin
9,2 Excellent
Pros: A pleasant ten minute walk into the centre.
Cons: A (false) alarm sounded and couldn't be switched off; it stopped after 5 minutes, allowing guests to return to their rooms while it as still sounding. A sixties concrete building which some may find characterless.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location was good
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room with an ocean view. Very nice staff and small but clean accommodations.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Views from sea-facing balcony rooms and terrace are amazing.
Cons: Towels could have been a bit bigger and thicket
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Tremendous location- sea front and quiet- only 15 minutes walk from the centre which was extremely busy. Very effective and friendly check-in experience and Florie (who booked us in) was especially helpful, even taking us to the lift and giving many helpful recommendations re restaurants and things to see. Lovely breakfast. Thank you!
Cons: One of the rooms (facing the rear of the property) was cold during night and the radiator could have been turned on before we arrived.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, price, Town of La Rochelle was a good "find".
Cons: Room size a little cozy by NA standards

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, weather, recommended restaurant, general help
Cons: Self serve breakfast would be much quicker Self serve bar in the living room would be excellent for a beer or wine A few doorknobs etc could be repaired. Italian style or separate shower instead of shower / bath - much safer for us old guests.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Attention to detail in the building overall and especially the room was exceptional. Very eclectic/French decor which suits the building and the location - which was fantastic. View from our room was amazing - over trees and on to the sea. Owners are very friendly and approachable.
Cons: Shower head was broken - not a huge issue. Breakfast was lovely but a bit too much emphasis on bread!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Room was very well appointed and the view was wonderful. Quiet end of the harbour but only minutes from all restaurants, bars and shops
Cons: Surprised that they were no toiletries in bathroom. Apart from that was perfect
7,9 Good
Pros: About as French as French can be, which we loved, but don’t expect any mod cons or English speaking staff, which forced me to practice my French (still awful!). The hotel is perfectly located and has retained all of its history. We stayed in bedroom Le Phare - I expect there are better rooms but all in all a lovely view, very peaceful and sweet little touches. Breakfast plentiful - freshly squeezed orange juice, delightful platter of fruits and freshly baked pastries and breads each day
Cons: Carrying our bags up four flights of narrow stairs isn’t for the faint hearted and we weren’t offered any help. We are young and fairly fit so not a problem but for the older guest I fear this may be a struggle
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Quiet room. Staff really helpful when an injury needed attention. Many thnx for that
Cons: Easier access to room, but we accept that this is difficult in an old building that has lots of character & lovely features.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was very helpful and thoughtful. The breakfast was simple but good served in a beautiful room. WiFi was great. Our attic room was small but quite charming in French shabby chic style. The property is very old and does have a narrow staircase as mentioned in other reviews, but I can’t see how they could install a lift. There is also no air conditioning, which could prove to be a problem in high season, but fine for us in early June.
Cons: We had a shower over the bath, but it was not fixed to the wall so we had to hold it the whole time. The linen and towels are also a bit tired. Sadly, we thought it was over-priced for our room from a Monday to Wednesday in early June, sorry.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Rustic and charming B&B Excellent location right in the harbour Spacious and pretty room Great breakfast Helpful and friendly staff
7,9 Good
Pros: Beautiful room, lovely views
Cons: Parking is an expensive nightmare in St Martin, 30 Euros a day.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the whole atmosphere - casual chic, superb breakfasts, an air of quiet calm and the most amazing view over the harbour... sleeping with the windows open and being woken by the sun was a great way to start the day - and wonderful knowledgeable recommendations about restaurants.
Cons: Honestly, there was nothing that was a problem.....

Cons: The walk back from port in the dark.
7,9 Good
Pros: Pool and children facilities and allowing our dog
Cons: Toilet too small, needed a bath mat for shower/bath, no shampoo/shower gels supplied
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly. Room was plenty big enough for the 3 of us and the hotel was a short walk from the old port which was ideal
7,5 Good
Pros: The bed was fantastic. V comfortable with crisp white linen. We had a room that overlooked the park and pool so when waking we felt v close to nature and not in a city. Children ate for free at breakfast time.
Cons: Options on menu /availability of food for vegetarians. .
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent and the room was superb with one of the best beds and nights sleep in a while. Also has a properly deep bath.
Cons: The pool is only small so we didn't get to use it as it was already quite busy.
7,9 Good
Pros: Good communications with staff, good location, very comfortable bed
Cons: Difficult to get snacks with our drinks initially. Not enough loungers around pool although most were 'reserved' with towels but were unused.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb facilities for kids, close to the place de Verdun main bus station and very close to the local park. The buffet supper is brilliant; healthy, fresh and very tasty.
Cons: Difficult to get to with children and heavy bags from the train station as La Rochelle does not have a robust taxi service. I called the hotel after waiting 30minutes for a taxi and calling 6 taxi firms and asked if they could call a taxi for me but they said they could not; only were able to give me two taxi numbers.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, and easy walk into town

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location. Friendly staff. Clean and comfy room. Value for money breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location staff and cleanliness!! Le jardin was beautiful too
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location was excellent. But so overpriced for the quality of the rooms.
Cons: Rooms small and expensive. Cramped bedroom and shower room. No easy parking. Arriving early evening meant sitting waiting for a space to appear in the vieux port car park..very stressful. Room open out onto internal court yard so no breeze.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the old building with a shady courtyard garden.
Cons: Our room had been done up but they had taken the doors of the cupboards but not the hinges which it made it look unfinished. There was a fan but it was very noisy
8,3 Excellent
Pros: We loved the position in the city ,close to the old port which there were plenty of restaurants with great food.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: We had a room on the top floor at the bottom of the garden, so had a lovely view into the garden. It also meant we were able to keep windows open so the room stayed cool enough. Breakfast seems quite pricey at Eu11 but it is very good.
Cons: A bar or even a fridge for late drinks would be nice
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Bed and pillows very comfy. Fan in room. Outside shutters and double windows ensured that room was quiet from outside noise. Room made up every day and staff very friendly and all spoke English

5,7 Okay
Pros: Location of hotel couldn't have been better, just around the corner from the old port and lots of restaurants and shops but just far away enough that there wasn't much noice and had a great sleep! Room was pretty basic but the bed was comfortable and the bed linen was clean.
Cons: Rooms were basic and tv had only French channels.
6,3 Good
Pros: Most important is the fantastic situation in the old town. Can't be better.
Cons: Well for that price, I resquest a personal toilet in my room
6,7 Good
Pros: Please write at least 15 words
7,7 Good
Pros: Very convenient location in the heart of old La Rochelle, right by the old port. Very clean, very friendly, very quiet. One of the best old town hotels I've stayed at in France.
5,2 Okay
Pros: Shower & toilet facilities were very good & room was clean & presentable.
Cons: The third bed was only a sofa bed which was't adequate & the bed sheet was of poor quality & had a corner strap that was broken. The room could have been larger for 3 people sharing - I.e a seperate room/area for the double bed. Also the Free car parking was full so we had to park in the Public car park by the beach & pay. The map directions for the free parking wasn't large enough; making them difficult to find.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Cosy, chic and comfortable. Excellent breakfast buffet especially enjoyable in garden in the cool of the morning. Lots of detail and care given to the decoration. I particularly appreciated leaving the bustle of the port to return to a quiet and calm environment where the staff had closed the window shutters to keep the rooms cool. I hope to return!
Cons: The pretty interior garden is set out for maximum comfort and enjoyment by the clients as all rooms give on to it; of course this means that if some customers like to watch TV late at night with the windows open due to summer heat, or engage in other noisy activities, well all the other clients get to hear it too!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really nice and helpful. The whole house is absolutely adorable. Breakfast was delicious!
7,5 Good
Pros: Location and quietness
Cons: Expensive for what it is.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything- lovely location, stylish rooms, beautiful garden, friendly staff
Cons: Nothing except the room was warm, maybe a fan could have been heloful
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Its quirkiness, Decor and friendliness of the staff
Cons: The toilet could have had a little more room as was extremely small but just a minor issue and a little more information beforehand about the parking situation would have been helpful as it meant a bit of running around when we got there.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved everything
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Quiet, centrally located, friendly and helpful staff
Cons: No door to the bathroom in the family room so there wasn’t a lot of privacy at times but it was a good room and space otherwise
