Overview

Costa Sur Resort and Spa is a laid-back, family-friendly resort that’s a mainstay on the Puerto Vallarta hotel scene. The hotel is situated on a secluded stretch of beach on the Bay of Banderas and offers stunning sunsets are not to be missed.

The Costa Sur Resort and Spa sits directly on Highway 200 south of central Puerto Vallarta on the beautiful Bay of Banderas. The resort offers a quiet stretch of beach with the Sierra Madre Mountains in the background. A ten-minute drive takes guests to popular destinations such as Playa Los Muertos, the lively dining and nightlife of the Zona Romantica, or Los Arcos National Marine Park, a popular snorkeling area. The center of the Malecon, which features statues, food vendors, restaurants, and shops is a little further north.

A range of amenities are offered at Costa Sur, all concentrated in one area between the two towers that make the resort. The on-site restaurant, La Cascada, serves Mexican fare and offers a different theme dinner every night. Cafe del Sur serves coffee and breakfast by the pool. The lively Barefoot Bar offers fun happy hours every afternoon, and the Seahorse Snack Bar serves snacks during the day. The resort also features a large pool overlooking the ocean meant for kids and families, while a second pool is quieter. There is also a lovely spa, fitness center, and market on-site.

Costa Sur offers spacious suites with kitchens, living areas, and balconies with full ocean views. There are two different layouts, studios, and one-bedrooms, both feature plenty of living space and amenities. Most suites have been updated with newer fixtures and finishes. There are also Honeymoon Suites available on the adult-only floor.

Pros (+) View from all studio rooms.
Cons (-) Very expensive breakfast for what you get. Compared to other resorts. Suggest 2x1 sometimes. Pool a bit to cold . Stronger wifi would be appreciated in this day & age

Pros (+) You cannot beat the location, close to old town, and remote enough for peace and quiet. The staff are lovely, some have been there for decades.
Cons (-) Kids in the adults only pool is awful.
