9,2 Excellent
Pros: Right on the lake, great view from the living area and veranda Seperate bedrooms (master and room with 2 single beds) Kitchen and lounge area Reception very helpful The ducks were very friendly, really nice peaceful location
Cons: A few kilometres to get into town, but the scenery was worth the trade off
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place. Huge lawn are up to the shore line. Lots of sea birds and stunning view. The hosted was great. Highly recommended!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The place is only 10 minutes drive from Picton, a few blocks from the Waikawa Bay water front, and only a couple of kilometres from the Waikawa Bay marina where there are a few restaurants. The kitchen is well appointed, great electric cooktop and big oven. Tea bags and instant coffee sachets are supplied, and there's a coffee plunger but no coffee grounds.
Cons: While the Motel itself is right on the waterfront, our accommodation, a 4 bedroom, two story house, was actually a few blocks back from the water, so while the place itself was fine, it only has obscured water views from upstairs. The dishwasher was not in a suitable functioning condition, the trays being partly held together, ineffectively so, with cable ties. If you are planning on using the kitchen facilities, I suggest confirming that it has been repaired or replaced. Our visit was in November, so was the weather was very mild, but the main heating is a combustion fire place (with kindling provided, but no other firewood) in the downstairs lounge, which I expect would have heated the living areas suitably - and obviously created a lovely ambience. We weren't staying long enough to warrant starting and maintaining a fire though, and the only other heating was a couple of electric bar heaters, that I don't think would be suitable for children, the elderly, or the visually challenged. All beds did have electric blankets though. Fresh towels were dropped into the laundry for the second day we were there, but there was no "service" (beds being made, bathroom and kitchen cleaned, etc) as such. There was also a per person premium for more than four guests, which was advised after booking, which seemed strange for booking "the whole house", but can probably be justified with the addition laundry.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the place was magnificent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable with a great view.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The host Liz was great. Very kind and helpful
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff. Very welcoming and friendly. Excellent parking so close to door of unit. Nice to have a carport to park under, away from hot sun. Small bedroom with queen bed and side cabinets only, but reasonable sized wardrobe. Bed in lounge had a great view of the bay! Very quiet too. Only six units in complex.
Cons: Small bathroom but very good sized shower. Privacy in bedroom was a little compromised if anyone walked past the window when curtains were open. Would have enjoyed a shade option on open deck - but only because the weather was so good while we were staying! Otherwise everything was pretty near perfect for what we needed.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent receptionist apologies can’t recall name Excellent view from windows Very clean and comfortable. Good shower
Cons: Not a problem for us . There was nothing we didn’t like but some may think too far from town centre The fact we could only stay one night !
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location, fabulous outlook from room.
Cons: Everything was great!

Pros: Fresh paint on the walls, nice blue color. Great breakfast take away. Garage to dry our stuff.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Janet and Anchor Down pleasantly exceeded my expectations. We were welcomed by Janet with a wealth of local tips and advice, a handy map (and on-site parking). The room itself was lovely, with no touch unnoticed by the hosts. The design was very nice with extras like a luggage stand leaving us wanting for nothing. We really enjoyed the glorious mattress. The B&B is in the centre of Picton and it's very easy to walk through the town from here. It was also nice to have a private entrance and our own bathroom – our room had a toilet separate from the shower room, which was very handy. Janet was probably one of the best B&B hosts I've had. She put so much care into her rooms and her guests as well as catering for dietary needs. She went out of her way to make sure we were cared for and that our stay was pleasant. It was also nice chatting with other guests around the breakfast table.

They normally close by9pm but for their kindness they waited me until I arrived about 11pm. When I enter the room I was shocked. The room was very well organized which heater was on so the room was warm and very cute welcome plate.i felt their kindness. In the morning they gave me coffee with yummy muffin and croissant! I never had that great Service. I will take my wife and kids next time. And recommend to all my friends. Thank you so much Escape To Picton Boutique Hotel!
7,0 Good
Pros: Escape to Picton Boutique Hotel is a very nice renovation and use of an old building in the heart of Picton. The rooms are lovingly redecorated to an olde world theme. The staff were very friendly and caring.
Cons: The rooms have no air conditioning which meant having the window open and letting in bugs or strong winds (or both). It would probably be very cosy in winter. There was no refrigerator in the room nor an in-room safe. The bed, while big, was not all that comfortable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located, friendly staff, great restaurant. I had mussels, kingfish and pavlova, could not fault. Bed comfy.
Cons: Bathroom on basic level does not have shower, only bath. Breakfast a bit light
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room comfortable bed. Large deep bath with lovely salts snd bubbles provided.
Cons: A fridge would be useful in the room as we bought a bottle of wine at Brancott earlier that day and it would have been nice to have it on the deck.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Excellent service and loved the delicious muffin and coffee in the mornings. Room spacious, bed and pillows comfy. The French style room was beautifully decorated. The restaurant meals were amazing, make sure you try their signature dish the baked avocado.

Pros: Great accomodation. Great location.
Cons: Nothing I didnt like
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Whilst there wasn't a full kitchenette in the room, it sufficed for our needs. The motel was close to loads of restaurants and cafes and suited our needs re getting the ferry perfectly. It was spotlessly clean, welcoming and great value for money
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Check in seamless. Arrived later than expected and that was not an issue. Rooms small but cozy. Located in the heart of this small town. Quaint place. Not 5 star material but excellent overall
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated, super clean and great location. Friendly staff and owners.
Cons: Door and window facing carpark, hence can be a little noisy. Didn't bother us too much as we are early risers.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: From the street, it looks like a basic urban motel, but this first impression is deceiving. First, I was welcome as if I was a real guest, not just a customer. The managers are very friendly, and have plenty of attentions for their guests. The room (or rather suite) had everything you could possibly need (except maybe a true table/desk but I didn't need it since I wasn't travelling for work), and the bed was exceptional. Plus the location couldn't be more convenient and central.
Cons: There was a slight issue with properly adjusting the water temperature of the shower. The walls/windows are not soundproof (but people tend to sleep early there and it was very quiet after 9).

Pros: Great location, great room nice and tidy and absolutely lovely staff, very welcoming, helpful and friendly!!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had an amazing stay at Tirimoana House and Keith en Delwyn did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They made us feel very welcome and we felt right at home with amazing views over the sound. We arrived on a very pleasant day with sunny weather, and we we were able to enjoy the swimming pool and spa. Each day we had a fantastic breakfast prepared by Delwyn. We enjoyed talking to our hosts over a glass of wine, getting to know the area and everything about NZ. We really can't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much for having us.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, lovely property, hot tub, breakfast and very friendly hosts - they even offered to drop us off at the local tavern ( Queen Charlotte), that is well worth a visit.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are super lovely and the view from our room was amazing. Close to the start of the Queen Charlotte Track. Spa and pool on site
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Keith and Delwyn are superb hosts of a stunning property. The vistas over Anakiwa Bay was simply gorgeous. Breakfasts were beautifully prepared and it was a joy to eat out on the verandah. There were lots of lovely touches like the welcome drinks and pre-arranged platters on arrival, the tea selection, and the homemade afternoon tea slice. The lovely living room and fire were welcome after coming in from the chilly outside. Beds were v comfy and the fluffy gowns and slippers were a nice touch.
Cons: The owners are doing so much to improve the property and have some lovely ideas. We thought that given Tirimoana's distance to Havelock or Picton for meals, a BBQ would be something to consider. Also, a small kitchenette with microwave. This might encourage visitors to spend a longer time at the property than just a night or two.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Tirimoana House. Delwyn and Keith were outstanding hosts. So welcoming, nothing was a problem. Positioned right on the water with a beautiful view down the sounds. We were treated to a cooked breakfast and drinks and snacks by our hosts who also dropped us off at the Queen Charlotte Tavern for dinner. The accomodation is very comfortable and rooms have views the water and private decks to enjoy and drink after walking the Queen Charlotte Track.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: An amazing location, beautiful food. Everything was perfect.
7,9 Good
Pros: The property & views were spectacular, the food exceptional, our room was beyond expectations. The owners seemed lovely, + we adore the resident cat !
Cons: It was our honeymoon and unfortunately raining on our second day. We asked for later checkout however this was not available, our water taxi was booked at 3.45pm so quite a wait from 10am to then, would've been quite fine if the weather was okay. Unfortunately we felt really awkward/like an inconvenience after checking out as the only place we could go was the sitting area. We weren't asked if we wanted to dine for lunch, no one really checked on us at all actually. We had a massage 2ish luckily which took up the last little bit of time, but in all honesty I would've expected a little more care from such a fine establishment. We felt like an afterthought. My review would've been much higher if not for this aspect of our stay, we just didn't feel like the service was there.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, well appointed units and great facilities. The staff are fabulous.
Cons: The rain! But couldn’t really be fixed.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views, idyllic location. Friendly staff, particularly the manager who was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. The restaurant was first class, with an excellent reasonably priced wine list.
Cons: The only drawback is you're reliant on using water taxis which increases the cost of your stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location to get away from it all. Friendly staff and the GM, Graeme was proactive and always there when you need him. I have never had so much contact with a GM at any hotel!
Cons: What is there not to like?
7,1 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, nice breakfast.
Cons: Hotel feels bit dated and lacks investment since last refurbishement in the ‘90ies (?). Not enough value-for-money.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location, rooms spotlessly clean with nice personal touches. Lovely helpful staff, good food and wine. Nice walks locally - some quite strenuous, but worth it. Wildlife and boaties coming and going, captivating...
Cons: Nothing really, our room was beginning to look a little tired, but that’s a really minor thing. The place is gorgeous
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was extremely accommodating and their attention to detail superb. All our meals were fantastic. We loved the options the resort offers, you can be as active as you want or relax all day in your apartment and still make most of your stay.

Pros: Excellent receptionist apologies can’t recall name Excellent view from windows Very clean and comfortable. Good shower
Cons: Not a problem for us . There was nothing we didn’t like but some may think too far from town centre The fact we could only stay one night !

Cons: Everything was great!

Pros: The room had a wonderful view. It was clean and well appointed.
Cons: Finding the hotel and parking were very troublesome.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Harbour View Motel - a motel true to its name. You don’t have to stand on a kitchen chair to glimpse a bit of water, the large room windows provide a scenic view of the harbour, Sound and the InterIslander ferry. We had a “Studio”, a one room apartment with a separate bathroom, so “Motel” is a rather inadequate descriptor. It would appear that the Motel has been recently renovated as the paintwork, tiling, kitchen etc., all looked very fresh. The room was relatively spacious, although the kitchen, whilst adequately provisioned, had very limited meal preparation space (a limitation that could easily have been overcome with a bit more thought.) Comfortable bed and lounge suite, both with scenic views of the Sound. The bathroom was relatively spacious with plenty of towels and hot water. Off road parking, plenty of power points for charging all those electronic devices and an easy walk to the local supermarket. Bit hard to fault. Average price, clean, comfortable and reasonably spacious with great views so has to be RECOMMENDED.
Cons: Very limited meal preparation bench top in the kitchen and needs a low level unit in the lounge/bedroom area to provide a surface for the bits and pieces you don’t keep in your suitcase.

Pros: Great location. Friendly staff. Very nice room with cooking facilities

Pros: Very accommodating with late checkin!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, so handy to town, everything lovely and clean, really friendly welcome and they changed things around so we could get a room early.
Cons: Can’t think of anything.
7,1 Good
Pros: The location of the property was good, set at the top of town with just a short walk to the seafront.
Cons: The bathroom is probably about due for a refit. It felt a little dated, and whilst the sanitary wear was clean, the roller blind on the window of the bathroom was mouldy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room was well equipped and spotless. I had to switch to a very late arrival which was not a problem at all. I would highly recommend to friends and family.
Cons: Noisey rude guests leaving at 5am with no respect for other guests. Not at all a fault of the motels but very annoying when you had come off the midnight ferry.

Pros: Proximity to town was great Room was very clean and well maintained Friendly staff

5,0 Okay
Pros: Location was good.
Cons: Reception was terrible and not individual specific. when asked simple questions we had to endure the 'introduction to the facility and all that it has to offer' spell before we could have the answers. We found her unfriendly, unwelcoming and when mentioned this to her she as bordering on rude. It was evident she did not know what the room I booked offered and not offer.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: We specifically chose this accommodation over others as it offered a swimming pool. We arrived in 26 degrees weather on 27 Nov to find the cover had not been taken off the pool. It was the same the following morning. You should not advertise a pool unless you make it available or specify the dates you intend to open it!!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Close to everything (walking distance) friendly staff, awesome view. Loved our stay there

Pros: The property was very well outfitted. The staff was very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The views are awesome, very quiet and the meal was exceptional. Fantastic place to stay
Cons: All was good.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location with lovely view and grassy courtyard.
Cons: It was hot as sliding door needed to be kept closed over night. Also the pillows were cheap, flat and useless ( my pet peeve)... I don’t understand why bedding is always cheap and uncomfortable when that’s basically what you’re paying nearly $200 a night for! No air conditioning and cheap sachets of tea and coffee... it’s the little things that make a big difference!

2,0 Mediocre
Cons: Place needs a full overhaul and a good scrub
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Modern and friendly with all the expected conveniences. Wifi, tea coffee making, cable tv, balcony.
Cons: My sliding door opened onto a shared balcony, so at night the door needs to be locked closed therefore no fresh air and the room was hot and stuffy. The mattress was cheap and uncomfortable and the pillows were so cheap and flat/ lumpy I woke with pressure areas on my ears. Seriously decent pillows are $20-30... after all we are only paying for a bed really- that needs to be quality and comfortable otherwise what is the point! The sheets were prickly/ scratchy and cheap also. Disappointing and nothing has changed since my last visit. The television is poorly placed in the room (by the sliding door) and can only be watched from the single bed . Also check out is 10 am - asking for a late check out they extended until 10.30. Then commenced ringing my room disrupting my business call anyway.
6,0 Good
Pros: Avi on reception was great, he managed and changed our booking and as the lift wasn't working when we arrived, he took our luggage up to the room:) The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable:).
Cons: The lift wasn't working and we were on the 3rd floor which was not good:(. The toilet roll holder in the bathroom was broken and was coming out of the wall. The shampoo bottle on the handbasin had been used and was almost empty:(, apart from that the bathroom and the room were fine and our stay at the hotel was good:)
6,3 Good
Pros: The location was good and close to the downtown.
Cons: This is supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, but the door from the hallway to the outside was broken and wouldn’t close. The cigarette smoke was pulled into our room. When we mentioned this to the front desk, they did not care and just said people were not supposed to be smoking there. No attempts to fix the door, although this was also a security issue too.
4,3 Okay
Pros: Very disappointed in our room Broken basin, just not up to Mecure standard. Know they have better rooms as have stayed before.
Cons: The room.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The location...is was close to everything
Cons: We did not get told or agree to $50.00 being taken from our bank account (we have still not received that money back yet). We were not happy with this and think that we should have been informed, we recommend definitely telling your reception staff to inform customers of this as it put a dampener on our experience at your hotel. However we do understand that money needs to be held for incidentals, but think there should be a clearer understanding.
7,7 Good
Pros: Staff were considerate and thoughtful, giving us a free complementary up upgrade. The film channel was also good. I liked not having to walk through the hotel to leave or arrive - we were able to come and go as we pleased.
Cons: Not applicable
6,0 Good
Pros: How close it is to the shops and other venues that we needed to get to.
Cons: The sound of the metal stair access outside is a bit noisy. The balcony sliding door didn't have a lock.
6,7 Good
Pros: Hotel Restaurant offers magnificent food.
Cons: The lift is only available 5 stairs down which is uncomfortable, and is at the bottom of the passage far from the Reception. A room with a bath is something which I missed.
6,0 Good
Pros: Location and cheap room rate. Room was clean and staff were good.
Cons: The hotel definitely needs the upgrade its getting. Last night I couldnt get back in the main door, luckily the side door was open.I would recommend the hotel after the upgrade.
6,6 Good
Pros: i liked the convenience of location, new decor room 313, minor incident handled professionally by staff. able to leave bag for short time after check-out instead of dragging it around picton shops whilst waiting for the return train.
Cons: having to get on my hands and knees on the floor and plug the kettle in whilst leaving the kettle sitting on the new carpet as the power outlet behind the bar fridge was unaccessable and the cord too short.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Proximity to town and ease to find.
Cons: At no time were we notified of the on-going Construction/Rennovation to the Hotel until we were unpacked in room. Room was cold (not prepared for guests), noisey rubbish truck outside. Upon inspection, noted it was a crane withing 30 metres from the room working on the property - after putting up with it for 20 minutes we enquired from Reception with regard to when it would stop. Told at 7.00 pm restarting at 8.00 am in morning. Raining heavily when arrived were unable to really look at exterior or be aware of the noise levels. Unfortunately no compensation of any sort was suggested and the Jack Hammer starting at 7.45 am the follwing morning was the end. Not good value for money at all!!!!!
5,6 Okay
Pros: I arrived late,so I felt a bit out and there was no bar open so I went to bed 10pm
Cons: No cooked breakfast and the continental was meager and overpriced
6,0 Good
Pros: The round bed
Cons: No information about breakfast in the hotel info. No cooked breakfast available.
