The front desk service was exceptional upon check in
The bed was lovely, really comfortable with a good amount of pillows. The location is great, easy to find and the door staff were fantastic.
When we arrived they tried to charge me an extra $140! I disputed this and was told I needed to pay it then to claim it back through booking.com. I disputed this also and was then told they would honour the original price. Included in the price was $20 a day food & drink voucher, we didn’t receive this because of the issue with the payment and was told to ‘call it quits’ and that it ‘makes it even’ when we didn’t receive it. The blinds were down in the room when we arrived, but with us arriving at night we didn’t think to try and open them. In the morning I could see why they were shut - because they were broke! We couldn’t open either of the 2 blinds in the room, and when we managed to hook one up to get a bit of daylight, we were greeted with an horrendous view, on the top of roof with rubbish all over it. The toilet was dirty, the shampoo had been used as it was all over the cap & there were stains all over the towels. I meet 1 present member of staff in the 4 days we stays there. I won’t be returning & will not be recommending this to anyone visiting NY.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and very attentive throughout my stay. I appreciate that they never complicated any request but also always made themselves available. The bed was comfortable and the housekeeping did a wonderful job of tidying and organizing the room and my belongings when i was away. The toiletries also smelled nice and worked well which isn’t usually a requirement but is nice to have!
I think it’s just due for renovation. My “jacuzzi” in my bathtub didn’t work and my bathroom ceiling leaked when the upstairs guests were using their shower/tub (according to the engineer) but it wasn’t a big deal to me. Half of the lighting on my mirror also didn’t work. If I had to nitpick, then there were imperfections in the room BUT they didn’t take away from my experience at all. No real complaint just an acknowledgement.
Good hotel on the east side, bery comfortable bed, room is not that big, hotel very clean but looks old!
Breakfast extremely expensive at 35 USD :(, fortunately diners and Starbucks within few mn walk.
Location was great. Short walk to GCT and the UN was right across the street. Staff was nice. Room was average size for NYC. Historic hotel look and feel with modern upgrade.
Breakfast buffet was insanely expensive for what was offered. I’ve had comparable or better breakfast buffets at lesser hotels. Cost over $60 for two people. Bathroom in our room was worn out and there were hairs Stuck to the ceiling.
