Good Location and clean room
Very small room for 4 persons. Breakfast well below european standarts (no expresso coffee, very low variety of foods, no fruit salads...). All in all very expensive price for this.
We were there for two nights. The breakfast was decent, but the chairs and the food handles were all sticky. The coffee was cold, but when I asked for a fresh pot they made it. This was supposed to be a "family restaurant," but there was no real restaurant. The construction begins at 7 AM and lasts all day. The noise is not fun if you want to sleep in. We had children so we're up early, but unless you want to get up at 7:00 - find somewhere else.
THE ROOM SITUATION WAS AWFUL: I was PROMISED -- in writing, by phone, and in person-- that we would have connecting rooms. Our group consisted of two grandparents, a parent and two children ages 6 & 8. At first I booked a family room because it had bunk beds connecting to another room. I called the hotel to ensure that the room connected had two double beds, but the bunk bed rooms only connected to rooms with queen size beds and I was told no room for a cot in either room. The manager said I had to change my reservation - they wouldn't do it. But if I changed the reservation through booking.com (MORE COST OF COURSE), I was assured IN WRITING and BY PHONE that we would have connecting rooms. When we arrived at the hotel, I spoke with Puja, who was one of the hotel personnel who had promised me connecting rooms by phone. She remembered me and told me she was just starting to work on my reservation. It was too early to check in, so we stored our luggage and Puja ASSURED me our connecting rooms would be ready when we returned. But they weren't. Puja was nowhere to be found and neither was the manager. Only Dorja, who could do absolutely nothing for us. She had two rooms on opposite ends of the same floor. And that is why I am furious with the Paul Hotel NYC. MORE: There was no real restaurant as in the pictures, and certainly not a family restaurant - and the rooftop bar could seat about 12 people total. I had invited friends to visit to meet our grandkids. I had planned to have wine and cheese in our connecting rooms while the grandkids went to sleep in the other room. Instead - my son had to go up with the grandkids at 8 PM and miss our evening. Alternatively - if our connecting room had been too small to have friends in, we had planned to have wine and cheese in the lobby. BUT THE LOBBY DOESN'T EXIST. Only beautiful pictures exist - on the website. MORE: The bathrooms are dangerous.
On the roof of the hotel they have a lovely night bar, but it works until 11 pm, which was not pleasant for downtown New York
Rooms and facilities were clean and modern
There were no vending machines for snacks and construction across the street started around 4:30 AM- hotel provided earplugs I’m guessing for this reason!
Got late check out only for 12:30; asked for around 14:00 but that was not possible without paying. Original room was very humid and everything felt 'sticky', so changed to a smaller room but had to pay the same rate as for the original one.. stuff managed to open the windows and I turned off the AC so new room felt dry and was ok.. The rooms could benefit from some 'refreshing' as they are not really modern and stylish. During my stay there were construction works in buildings in front and at the back of the hotel, so it was rather noisy early in the morning.
