7,1 Good
Pros: Quieter location
Cons: Poor service encounter at bar on last night!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with a great spa
5,4 Okay
Pros: The view is wonderful and hotel was clean and cozy
Cons: I didn't like the fact that we were charged 100$ for a massage in an awful spa! False advertising as a 5star when they are a three star hotel maximum! Our massages we later found out were given by the gardener and the housekeeper! I'd like to file a complaint as when I said we were unsatisfied, the front desk manager just shrugged her shoulders and offered us nothing.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: They treated us like royalty on our honeymoon (the only place on our trip to South America that really took note).
7,5 Good
Pros: Customer attention and service level was excellent.
Cons: Initial room given was unacceptable and had to request changes.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing and the food was excellent
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was excellent! They were courteous, professional, and very prompt. We were made very welcome immediately and the service remained until they dropped us off at the train station to leave. The location is perfect for visiting Machu Picchu and is conveniently located close enough to the town to sight see but far enough out not to be overly crowded. The food in the restaurant was amazing in taste, quantity, and display. The concierge was very helpful whether it was getting tickets for Machu Picchu or booking the cooking class. Every member of the staff treated my wife and I as if we were the only guests in the hotel. It was that kind of personal service where they even took the time to learn our names prior to talking with us.
Cons: I really can't think of anything bad to say about or stay at the hotel.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Great location Had free things to do at hotel- cooking classes, evening cocktails. Great with kids- did Peruvian cookie class, staff brought puzzles while we were hanging out. Great massage.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic room and view
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing! A huge Breakfast, a 3 course gourmet dinner and evening cocktails were included. The location is perfect. The buses to Machu Picchu are just down the road (about a 15 minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu) and they will drop you off right at the hotel when you come back. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: The spa was great but small. More services (like pedicures) would have been nice.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room is warm and the bed is very soft and comfortable. The breakfast is very nice especially their dessert is so good. Staffs are nice and the bartender is very professional. When I checked in their staffs gave me some nice drinks and desserts very sweet. I highly recommend this hotel!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful decorated luxurious hotel with excellent facilities. Dinner was included and was of gourmet quality. A waiter by the name of Jesus (Hesus) was so kind, helpful and attentive. He arranged for a particular meal to be cooked for my sick husband (outside of the set choices) then personally delivered it to him.
Cons: Unless one is staying more than 1 day it is almost impossible to make use of the facilities therefore it makes the rooms expensive for what you can use. Nonetheless if we came back to MP we would probably stay here again.
Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel - Machu Picchu - Building
2
9,1 Excellent (318 reviews)
R7 663+
Overview Reviews
Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel is in the heart of Machu Picchu, within a 10-minute walk of Cerro Machupicchu and Aguas Calientes Hot Springs. Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff location amenities were excellent. Best place to stay near Machu Picchu.
4,6 Okay
Pros: Beds comfy, location good. Easy to get around.
Cons: Big waste of money. Over-rated, don’t waste your time. Staff hopeless. Check in slow. Room wasn’t ready. All inclusive but food terrible, no alcohol included, mini bar had a bag of nuts, water & Pepsi. The hotel doesn’t have aircon!!!! Can u believe s 5 star place with no A/C? The rooms were hot and humid, there are no blinds in the rooms. The hotel tells you not to drink the tap water so we ordered a bottle of water with our meal, only to be charged for it. Little things like this really annoyed me. The room tv was hidden in a cupboard and the size of s laptop. Very basic accommodation for the price. Stay somewhere else.
7,1 Good
Pros: It is probably the best hotel in Aguas Calientes, a place that’s existence is only due to Machu Picchu and is not worth visiting except for the world famous inka town above. The Inkaterra Hotel surely makes the stay more comfortable than most alternatives. The eco concept is also good, as is the included dinner and breakfast.
Cons: The open air hot pond and the whirlpool were dirty and seemed not be used at all by guests (see picture). For this price, the hotel should also assist with the transfer up to Machu Picchu. The guy at the reception could not even point to the right location of the bus ticket sale on the map. More service on the obvious reason for visiting the hotel would be appreciated. We clearly expected more for this price.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Staff is top-notch, world-class kindness and attention to detail.
Cons: Nothing.
7,1 Good
Pros: The pillows could be better
Cons: the light comes trough the window very early . Only a very light white curtain . Great light in the room for the day but not for rest .
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the service, the room, the food, the tours. the Spa. Everything was perfect. We travel frequently and this hotel is outstanding.
Cons: Having to leave after a 4 night stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and Dinner was included in our deal and they were wonderful!
Cons: Couldn't keep the fire lit in our fireplace. ;(
5,8 Okay
Cons: I paid $800 for a deluxe junior suite which was supposed to have a jacuzzi and separate sitting area. Instead they put me in a regular room with 2 chairs, stained rug and a scratched, dirty bathtub. When I asked to speak with the manager, the first time he was not available and the second time he was in a meeting
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fireplace in room ready to light and enjoy! Super comfy chairs and couch with bird watching views Nature trails and bird watching guides were great. Food was excellent Staff was terrific, friendly, if anything, over explaining the hotel offerings.
Cons: Lots of rough stone steps between entrance and rooms (48) like a four story walk up. But nestled in scenic river gorge, this was a small price to pay.
Belmond Sanctuary Lodge - Machu Picchu - Building
3
8,9 Excellent (363 reviews)
R17 087+
Overview Reviews
Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is the only hotel located adjacent to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu and the best point by which to explore the beautiful surrounding area. The Lodge is located only 50 meters from the main entrance to the archaeological site. Only the select few who stay at the Lodge have access to the ruins both before and after the throngs of tourists arrive and depart from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. The benefit of exploring the ruins when they are relatively empty is not to be underestimated, and a key benefit of staying at the Lodge. The magnificent gardens at the Lodge boast stunning views across Machu Picchu and are a popular location for breakfast, as well as champagne at any time. They also offer the perfect location in which to relax during your stay. The gardens are located at the back of the main building, where you can find a great variety of native plants and flowers, including many orchids. Offering luxury accommodation, simply composed Peruvian cuisine with delightful little touches, Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is the perfect place to relax and unwind in the shadow of the Lost City. Facilities include two restaurants, bar, limited business services, gift shop and Internet terminals for guest use. Complimentary high-speed wireless Internet service is available in guestrooms and public areas. Rates include breakfast, lunch and dinner or breakfast only in the Lodge's restaurant, depending on the rate plan purchased. Concierge, room service and laundry services are available. Accommodations reflect the casual, intimate atmosphere of a home away from home. There are two suites and twenty-nine rooms, twelve of which feature amazing views of the mountains. Amenities available in all rooms and suites include complimentary wireless Internet access, high-definition LCD widescreen TV with movie channels, iPod dock, DVD player and lending library, dual 110v-220v voltage, ceiling fan, mini-bar, personal safe, desk, bottled water and windows that open for fresh air.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, lunch and dinner were included in our deal and all were excellent!
Cons: Everything was wonderful! The staff was very friendly and helpful!
5,8 Okay
Pros: 1 - The food is excellent and the eucalyptus ice-cream is out of this world. 2 - The entire staff is so sweetie and very friendly. 3 - The location could not be better. It is steps away from Machu Picchu. 4 - The wifi works well in the room.
Cons: 1 - It is ridiculously priced for the overall quality and even for the location. 2 - The carpete in the room is disgusting dirty. 3 - The bed is not so comfortable. 4 - The shower is way too tiny making it very difficult to take a shower. 5 - The shower door does not close all the away, letting the water splash all over the bathroom floor. 6 - The bathroom is constantly stinky even after flushing. It feels like there the sewer line is open right side the bathroom.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Everything great place, great staff, great service, amazing location
Cons: Cost way too much even with food and drink included. They should also shuttle every guest up and down to Agua Calientes not just high paying hiram bingham train guests.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Right next to entrance of Machu Picchu. Very helpful and friendly staff who very efficiently and graciously handled every request.
Cons: Restaurant service could not be faulted but quality of food and selection needs improvement for a hotel of this price level.
6,7 Good
Pros: Let's start with the obvious: the location! Staying here means you are at the entrance to the citadel. You don't have to queue for a bus in the early hours of the morning, you don't have to queue for a public toilet, you can come for lunch or drop off a jacket or whatever in the middle of the day... etc. The convenience factor is through the roof! But, you're paying for it. That aside, staff service is great. Special mention must be made of Antonio who took such good care of me when it came to food and drinks and general advice for my visit to the citadel. The pisco sour tasting was fun and the live music at dinner was great (I had an all-inclusive package). .
Cons: The hotel itself is not as luxurious as I thought it would be. Take this establishment and put it anywhere else and it would be completely over-priced. But, I suppose that's the nature of a monopoly...
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location! You are right outside Machu Pichu ruins. So you can be the 1st and last to explore. We arranged 2 tours through Belmond, and our tour guide Bell was amazing. Food at the restaurant was tasty. We also booked their incredible train experience and staff at the train was very attentive and made us feel very special.
Cons: We came to celebrate my 40th birthday and notified the hotel a few times about this special occasion. But during our stay they seemed a little clueless and didn’t pay much attention to details. For a hotel of this level and price point we expected better attention to details. One of the ladies that works in the restaurant is a little awkward with her topics of conversation (her 1st was about a political issue in my birth country, not appropriate during birthday celebration while she tried to sit us at the worst table in the restaurant). Also the hotel’s response communication prior to arrival was very slow.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staying right at the entrance to Machu Picchu. Great breakfast and service.
Cons: Since it is located in a protected area, there is no AC in the rooms and it can get really hot! It is the most expensive hotel in the area but you are paying for the location
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Belmont Sanctuary Lodge is perfectly well located to visit Machu Picchu. There is no better way than staying overnight at the site of the Inca Sanctuary at Machu Picchu. You go to sleep and you wake up in the morning with a magnificent view of those wonderful mountains that represented gods for the Incas. You can fully feel the sacredness of the site and you understand why the Incas built their sanctuary among those imposing peaceful mountains. However you also pay a high price to be able to enjoy all that peace and sacrosanctity. What you get on top are great comfortable rooms, ours had its own "front yard" where you could relax and look at the splendid environment. The minibar is included in the price. The hotel has a big green space which offers the possibility to relax outdoors on extremely comfortable sofas and chair lounges. The service is legendary and outstanding. The employees are aware fo the price you paid. The food at the restaurant is delicious, natural and authentic. The chefs offer a range of plates of Peruvian cuisine from which you can choose from. When you arrive by train at Aguas Calientes someone from the Lodge is waiting for you, he helps you buy the bus tickets and takes care of your luggage. At you arrival you are welcomed when stepping out of the bus and check in is made easy. The hotel arranged a tour of the Sactuary upon our arrival and another tour the second day to hike up on Huayna Picchu. Both tours were a delight and going up to Huayna Picchu was a fantastic work out. Our tour guide Ronaldo was extraordinary, higly educated and knowledgeable. We highly recommend Ronaldo. We also had an introduction to Pisco and a demonstration how to make a Pisco Sour. The lodge offers the possibility of using a refreshing and washing room after having done the check out. This was extremely nice and we appreciated taking a shower, refreshing and changing our clothes after our day's hike.
5,8 Okay
Cons: Hard to communicate with staff..found resturant staff in professional for rate of the hotel
7,5 Good
Pros: The location
Cons: Size of the rooms and limited amenities. I should have done more research regarding the amenities. Given the location I understand why far less is offered however I thought there would at least be a spa and larger lobey.
6,7 Good
Pros: Great location next to Mashu Pishu entrance Friendly attentive staff Good food
Cons: Small rooms Paid extra 300 dollars for a delux room , not much different from a standard room. In fact the standard room had a better view overlooking the garden , ours a galvinised roof top ! Reception short of staff could not cope Very overpriced for the facility and poor value for money !

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great. We arrived at the train station - and this hotel is perfectly situated for train arrival and departures. Also - the hotel is conveniently located with regard to restaurants and shopping in the quaint town of Aguascalientes. We all LOVED the river views from our rooms. It was a relaxing get-away. Also the staff took the initiative to provide a small birthday cake and candle for someone in our group when they noticed that the birthdate on her passport matched our arrival date. What thoughtfulness and initiative! Lastly - we all quite enjoyed the lovely morning breakfast. The Coca Tea and Infused water in the lobby was very welcoming.
Cons: I had no dislikes with this hotel.
7,5 Good
Pros: Proximity to train station
Cons: No windows
9,6 Excellent
Pros: excellent location in front of train station close to bus stop to MachuPicchu beautiful river view!!(room 201) staff was so kind!! welcome "3" chocolate cakes! hot shower, confortable bed, warm room. definitely stay here again!!
Cons: nothing
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Comfort, cleanliness, location, kind and helpful personnel.
Cons: I really liked the hotel; however, the single room had no outside window but a covered window to the hallway, which I believe made the room less sound proof, so I could hear all the sounds from the hallway and woke up earlier than planned.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect
6,7 Good
Pros: The location!
Cons: The shower would drip out
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Met at train station and helped to buy tickets to Machu a Picchu
Cons: Room trackside a little noisy
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with a large window giving superb views of the river and mountain. Maybe the best view in town. Breakfast had a good choice.
Cons: You have to pay for the bottles of water in your room. We had to ask for an adaptor to allow us to plug in anything with two round pins. And in the fridge we found a sandwich left by a previous guest.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and nice view. Very polite staff.
7,1 Good
Pros: The reception staff was great, meeting us at the train even though we didn't request this), helping us get bus tickets for Machu Piccho.
Cons: The hotel is business standard. The dining room was overpriced, strange and not very good -- in the basement.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Close to the station which is good and bed in case you want to sleep in
Cons: The staff didn’t care about you - you just another tourist they can grab the money off. Even simple information about Machu Picchu not available.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location and clean, modern facilities.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: location near the main plaza, staff attentiveness
Cons: wish they had an elevator :-)
6,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was so so but they did make eggs to order. Things were running low, even coffee. Very unique, rustic, beautiful, crazy, fire hazard. Lots of steps going up up up, which was kind of cool. I loved the funky charm
Cons: Breakfast could have been better, and if there was a fire, getting out would have been tough. But it’s part of the adventure!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location is very close to the train station and in the middle of everything. The staff are nice and very helpful. Breakfast is quite good.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very interesting layout of the hotel, something completely different! We had a lovely stay at your hotel and thank you very much for the kind service at the front desk!
6,3 Good
Pros: Central location Good WiFi Helpful staff - sorted out changing from original room to new room
Cons: Rooms very basic and not very clean Original room very noisy and water leaking through electric light fitting - staff moved us to nicer quieter room
1,0 Poor
Cons: - after paying extra for a family room with a spa bath, we could not use it as the water was running brown/yellow. The hotel did not take any responsibility for this when we complained. - room smelled of sewage and covered up by air fresheners - not safe for kids, the balcony has balustrades which my daughter could fit between and there was a long drop below. - dirty bathroom
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so knowledgeable and helpful. Also, brilliant location for getting bus to Machu Picchu.
Cons: the hotel is comfortable but a little basic, but as most people will be staying only one night it is worth the trade-off as the staff can really help you with your bus tickets and journey to MP.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The room and amenities were excellent. Fantastic location and the concierge were a great help in keeping your bags if you plan to stay the night for an early morning departure for Maccu Piccu. The room smelled great, amazing view, and a huge balcony if you get the Master suite.
Cons: Unfortunately more than a few rooms suffers from bed mites. It's a huge problem for this hotel despite everything else being excellent. Would have been a 5-star review but the mite problem brings down to 3-Star
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness
Cons: Rooms Abit small
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: breakfast was good
Cons: Shower flooded room and soaked our bags due to no Teflon on shower head connection, bathroom door almost knocked me out it was so close to the toilet, had to kill several large bugs and was attacked through out the night because all the windows have a 1 inch gap between them and the place is was wall to wall windows. The room we stayed in was not one of the rooms I saw in the pictures.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful.
Cons: The street was noisy but this also gave a lot of atmosphere
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, just nearby the train station and 3 mins to walk to bus stop.
Cons: Some bugs found on the bed, might because the window cannot be closed week. And a little bit noisy due to the train
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great service
Cons: Nothing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location Great staff Early and good breakfast
Cons: Toilettes are quite old
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful and friendly. They did not speak English but they were very helpful and patient with us, as we did not speak Spanish. The room was quiet with the sounds of water from the river. The shower was hot, with great pressure. There was soap, shampoo and towels. The restaurant was good and the drinks were cold.
Cons: I have no complaints. I would stay here again if the opportunity arises.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Enjoyed staying here. Loved the hot shower!! My friend and I were very happy about that. Our host was incredibly sweet and helpful with whatever we needed. Room was very clean. It was convienently located - 4 min from the train station and about 5 min to the Machu Picchu bus stop.
Cons: I guess the downside would be we had the side where the train passes through, so it was loud. However, it didn't really both us and after Machu Picchu, we completely knocked out. The other side is the river and maybe would've been more quiet? The one thing that did really bother us is after we got our laundry done from them (they take it to another place), was that we had some pinkish/reddish marks on some of our clothes. It was minor but didn't realize it until it was too late. We couldn't figure out what it was exactly, and it seems to slowly come off...? Other than that, everything was great.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location. We originally booked 4 rooms as we made bookings at different time but when we arrived there was no problem to change it in to 3 rooms and cancel one. No extra cost either :)
Cons: The train tack literally outside my room but my friends having rooms on the other side were ok.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hot water, lovely view, reasonably priced meals available in their restaurant attached to the hotel. Good breakfast.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and location is amazing
Cons: Someone could find closeness to the railroad a little bit annoying but it actually is convenient
4,0 Okay
Pros: Location...location...location
Cons: Noisy room the train was passing by and I got the feelingthat it would crosss the room!! I didn't sleep at all. There was a strange smell in all the property, the bathroom was old and the room was small.
7,4 Good
Pros: At first glance we thought Adelas was in perfect location! 5 minute walk from PeruRail station and the Machu Picchu bus stop. The room was comfortable for the price. Clean sheets and towels.
Cons: Our room was faced the railroad tracks so as we tried to rest early for our Machu Picchu trek we would hear a loud train speed by and honk an extremely loud horn. The last train passed around 11:30pm... We were in bed at 9pm and could not sleep. It would be nice if the hotel offered ear plugs to help guests sleep.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beds were comfy. Room was clean. There were enough outlets for 2 people. Close walk to everything.
Cons: That the train would run right next to it. It didn’t bother me personally, but if you’re sensitive to loud noises, the train might bother you.

Pros: The hotel is very nice, rooms are large and clean, beds are very comfortable for an excellent sleep. There is a free bottle of water in the room, both fan and heater. The bathroom is clean and big, nice shower. Staff extremely nice and available. As they are located at the top of the town (which means quite a steep road to reach it) they offer service to take your luggage up and down from and to the railway station.

Cons: The sound from the street is way too loud. Only come if being loud yourself.

7,9 Good
Pros: Staff is very kind and friendly. At our arrival, they gave us a twin room; however, since we are a couple, we asked to change into a double room. Cons: Wish it was a little more reasonable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly, kind and helpful. Best shower of my life just because of the amazing water preassure. This was definetely needed after a long hike up and down Machu Picchu. Also, at the time of reserving I asked if at all possible to have a room facing the river. The receptionist was kind enough to make this happen and lets just say falling asleep to a running river was a dream. Great
Cons: Nothing bad to say about it!
9,2 Excellent

Pros: Coffee was poor quality. Fried eggs were cold. Juice (which wasn’t really juice):was watered down. We had to go elsewhere for a decent breakfast.
Cons: Breakfast! Checkout was difficult as well as the staff didn’t know how to process a Visa payment. Had to ask for help from the younger staff ( housekeeping)!

Pros: It was a much better location than other hotels in Aguas Calientes. We actually had a reservation at a different hotel that was right next to the train station (which also meant a lot of noise and fumes from the trains). So, we sought out for another location the day of and found this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good, too. They also let us hang out in the lobby waiting for our train after check out. Fantastic experience overall.

Pros: Staff was awesome, cleanliness
Cons: No dislikes
5,0 Okay
Cons: The hotel’s location is not ideal for young children or elderly people as you need to walk several blocks on a hill (rememeber you’ll be exhausted after visiting Machu Picchu). In addition, there were several mosquitoes and spiders in the room, the cover had a funky smell and the room was not well insulated as we could hear the music from the restaurants/clubs outside until 3-4am in the morning.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: What a phenomenal upper level wrap around view of Aguas Caliente's mountains from the beautifully designed dinning hall ! Absolutely Breathtaking! Makes the Wiracocha Inn stay worth every bargain-laden penny spent worth it's weight in gold! Even if you couldn't get a booking for this wonderfully bargain-filled hotel, do try and book a dining spot at their roof-top restaurant. . .you will be blown away !
Cons: Nothing

Pros: -Excellent service, met me at train station and walked me to hotel promptly on arrival. Also Rosa (the owner) cooked me breakfast both days super early (4am and 5:30am) for no extra charge (including fresh made eggs and papaya juice!) -Extremely clean, private room with NO noise issues -Wifi worked perfectly -Is located uphill in Aguas Calientes, which while making the walk back slightly more challenging means a) less noise when you turn in early and b) being right next to a nice peaceful square by the river where I happened to step out and watch the red moon lunar eclipse -No extra charges beyond what I was originally quoted
Cons: Honestly nothing. The place is under construction but no noise whatsoever at night and Rosa and the other staff were amazingly helpful and courteous
