The meals where mouthwatering and plenty of it! The choices covered a wide range of choices, giving the hardiest of souls at least one choice! Cheerful staff, who did all they could to please their clientele! Handy over the road car park, especially as I am a registered disabled pensioner!! Well situated in the center of Llangollen, (except for the clock!!) Ideal for local amenities and tourist attractions.
Town Hall clock went off every hour during the night, too the point where my wife woke up to counting the chimes and cursed when it was still early morning!!
Location, staff. Very nice breakfast
All good! Need more parking but that is a very big problem in Llangollen and not just for the Royal
Location was good
Massively outdated and our room was not worth the money at all.
The Hotel was/is enchanting with a glorious view of the River Dee from the public rooms yet right in the centre of Llangollen, itself a delight to explore. Hotel car park only 50 metres distance is large enough. Llangollen seems a great little market town with all the facilities, plus a few more . There is even a supermarket (Aldi) within walking distance of the High Street if you need to shop, otherwise the Town is somewhere we all like to find more often than we do!
To be honest, nothing of mark! The proposed refurbishing of the Royal Hotel seems un-necessary in my opinion and risks losing its current charm.
Staff and location
Food, shower was a nightmare, very old fashioned, very overpriced.
The Royal Hotel is situated on the banks of the River Dee, in the heart of the picturesque town of Llangollen and is one of the landmarks that has come to define this stunning Welsh town. The hotel's 33 bedrooms are equipped with a TV, hairdryers, tea/coffee and en suite bathrooms. Most rooms have free WiFi. Centrally located, the hotel is ideal for touring the town and there is plenty to do and see. The steam railway attraction is just a 2-minute walk across the impressive 14-th century bridge from the hotel. Within equal distance, is the Llangollen Canal, where you can take a horse-drawn boat trip or motorised ride across the aqueduct. Famous former guests at the Royal Hotel include the young Queen Victoria and her mother, the Duchess of Kent.
