10,0 Excellent
Pros: Booked an early morning flight out of LIR and the Hilton Garden Inn exceeded our expectations. The staff, room, restaurant, and shuttle service were all great.
Cons: Nada.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds. Very convenient access to airport with courtesy shuttle.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Extremely convenient with a great quick shuttle from airport and to the rental car companies. The rooms were very clean and up to date in every way. Arriving later in the day made this a great first stop so we were ready to go in the morning. We would definitely book this place again for a first or last place to stay when flying out of Liberia.
Cons: Be prepared for the hotel to overcharge you in the beginning by about $75. They want you to spend that "credit" in their restaurant or snack/gift shop before you leave, then whatever you don't spend they credit that back to you.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: It was close to the airport which made it easy to relax after a long travel day. We loved the pool! The Casado was the best option in the restaurant. In the near by business mall was a good bakery for a cheap breakfast.
Cons: The food was expensive.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great poolside food with friendly service!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: great service from front desk and gift shop personnel. Our waiter was a bit preocupied with a larger party but was very nice and displayed excellent customer service.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Eggs to perfection, nice restaurant, friendly staff, great rooms.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was in Costa Rica. Last night there. Saw parrots which we had not yet. Nice close to airport. Restaurant outside seating by pool, very nice.
Cons: I was taken back when I got home and realized they had charged my card for $---- Paid for the room in March, so don't know what the charge was for so reported it as fraud. Not sure who is to blame.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Its was a very upmarket hotel for us, the pool and dining area were very good. The place was spotless and free shuttle to the airport was managed very well by excellent staff.
Cons: Considering the hotel is nearly new the noise from the air conditioning units in the room was truly appalling. At first I thought planes were still landing at the airport nearby, but when they did they were quieter than the air con!!
9,5 Excellent
Cons: The sheets were not soft
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel for our first night in Costa Rica after a long flight from UK. As we arrived late, we decided to stay near Liberia airport before collecting our car the next day and heading off for new adventures. Great hotel, amazing breakfast and a lovely pool. Hotel staff were very helpful and warm and helped to call car rental company to meet me at hotel rather than airport. Would recommend.
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Quick check in for a late flight arrival and prompt access to the room
Cons: No
Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin - Liberia - Building

8,6 Excellent (1 558 reviews)
R1 964+
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin in Curubande, you'll be in a national park and 5 minutes by car from Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lots of tours and things to do during the day.
Cons: After 10pm, everything closes and there is nothing to do but stay in your room.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast and the location is amazing. So much to see and do!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location right at the edge of the Rincon de la Vieja national park. The drive from Liberia is really easy - good road all the way. Our rooms (some of the newest at the hotel) were huge and well appointed. Best thing about the hotel was the adventure day - horse riding was ok (bit impersonal, and it didn't seem like the guides cared much about the horses), but the tubing was fantastic and the canopy tour was pretty good too. When you stay at the hotel you get free access to the Rio Negro hot springs and 4 different waterfalls on the hotel property: we swam in one of the falls and the guard gave us tips on where it was safe to jump. In the restaurant the à la carte menu is great; the all-you-can-eat buffet is mostly good.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This place is incredibly well-run. It’s a private property but within the park. The infrastructure is immaculate, and the employees well-trained, safety conscious, both nice and professional. I came to Rincón de la Vieja 30 years ago when there was no infrastructure to speak of; this place has been developed to a very high standard of conservation.
Cons: Restaurant is pretty pricey.
7,1 Good
Pros: We liked the location and the environnement ot the hotel.
Cons: People at the reception were not very friendly.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Norlan, front desk staff, was very kind and attentive amazing and quite facility. very relaxing. clean
Cons: Dinner buffeet ($22) was tasteless. breakfast and lunch were good. too far from liberia, closest place to get grocery or food.
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Such a beautiful setting. Took advantage of the waterfalls and all thefree activities. Wish there was coffee available all day. And s cheaper alternative to the nearby soda.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Personnel is very friendly. Location in the park.
Cons: The restaurant is very bad. Breakfast buffet, dinner or even de cocktails (very little alcohol) are way below standard. The rooms are not the best either. We woke up with all red bite marks...and not from mosquitoes!!!
7,5 Good
Pros: Location for all activities that represent the most prevalent recreational activities of Costa Rica
10,0 Excellent
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: I love this place, this is my second time here and I really want comeback.
6,3 Good
Pros: It is located at a beautiful place next to the park. The waterfalls and hot springs are amazing.
Cons: We stayed here for just 2 days for our honeymoon. We booked a more expensive room to fully enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. Unfortunately when we woke up the first morning we found a lot of water in our room on the floor. Like a flood! When we tried to use the shower there was also no water. So we went to the reception to tell about the problem. The girl reacted direcly like ‘ahh that must been the showetank that flooded in your room, we are going to send someone to see if we can fix it othetwise we give you another room, can you come back in the afternoon?’ Good reaction, so we stayed away for the whole day. When we came back there was someone else at the recepetion who had no idea anout the problem. He said to us ‘ohh well then your room must be fixed, here you have the key and you can have a look’. What we found weird... how would we know if it is fixed? Well... we opened the door of the room and we direcly saw that there was again a lot of water on the floor! So we headed back to the reception to tell about this, e guy reacted that he didnt know and after a lot of discussion he gave us a key for another room. Okay can happen, but we already found the service not great for a room we paid so much money for! I asked what they can do for us as we couldnt use our toom for the whole day and had to move all our stuff at 7pm... the guy at the reception told us he will speak with his manager, and would call us in 5min. So we waited in our room for his call. After 55min we called ourselves as he didnt call yet... he started a discusion about that the showrr was working and that we could showrr in other room. And that his manager will be there the next morning. in the meantime my husband saw that they send someone to our previous room to check and vlean the water on the floor. Insane! So the next morning we went back to the reception and asked for the manager.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing , staff was friendly and helpful, tour guide was very knowledgeable and respectful (nick name the tiger) food was excellent
Cons: Beds could be a bit more comfortable ,too firm
Canon de La Vieja Lodge - Liberia - Building

8,6 Excellent (552 reviews)

Overview Reviews
Cabin type rooms, surrounded by exuberant tropical forest, providing an exclusive refugewhere guests can relax amid the tranquility and sounds of nature.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Many activities right at the lodge. Nice pool. Clean, cute cabins rooms.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully landscaped facility which was maintained daily!! The employees were very hospitable. Great location with lots of amenities.
6,7 Good
Pros: The room was great and breakfast was good. They checked us in early which we appreciated. It’s also very close to the national park and we saw monkeys at the pool.
Cons: The common facilities were dirty such as the pool and the hot tubs. The mosquitoes were terrible as well. We travelled all through CR and this was the most mosquitoes we had ever come across.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Facilities and location amazing
7,5 Good
Pros: Location was beautiful overlooking the canyon. Front desk staff was excellent
Cons: No fridge in room. Service staff was not overly friendly or helpful. Only 15 lounge chairs around the pool for a 50 room resort, not near enough. Day use excursion guests had access to the hotel pool which made it very crowded with children between 3-6 pm. Not very enjoyable to hotel guests. And day use guests took all/most of lounge chairs.
4,6 Okay
Pros: The cabins were clean.
Cons: The service was average at best. The grounds were not well maintained.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Large wood cabins in a wide spread property with lots of facilities overlooking the river and canyon. The large pool with the swim-up bar is surely a favourite with tourists but I particularly liked the hot springs and mud baths by the river (free access to guests). I loved being able to swim in the river and then rest in the hot springs overlooking the canyon. Unfortunately, when we were there the area was quite dry and some of the vegetation seemed to have been through some fires but, otherwise, this is a lovely area near Rincon de la Vieja and overall a great value hotel. We were a bit thrown off by the fact that in order to get to Rincon de la Vieja's park from the lodge's road we had to pass a private road and had to pay 750 colones each (not per car as is usually done). This is not the lodge's fault, of course, but just warning other guests.
6,7 Good
Pros: Pool, food
Cons: Pictures on the website provided a different view
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This place is absolutely fantastic. We enjoyed three wonderful days there in a room with 2 double beds and an extra bed for a child in the low season (May). The lodge is in the middle of the jungle and we spotted everyday howler monkeys (just follow their shuts), frogs, and iguanas. The swimming pool was the best we had in Costa Rica. It has two small waterfalls, an elevated Jacuzzi and a second Jacuzzi hidden inside a cave. In addition, there is a relaxing swim-up bar and the whole swimming pool is surrounded by a tropical garden and lounge chairs. The lodge also lets you use their thermal springs making it a great addition. The Springs consist of 4 beautiful pools in a natural environment at different temperatures overlooking the river. And it is also possible to swim in the river (which the kids did). We also enjoyed the full combo pack on one of the days, that included canopy, rappelling, wall climbing, rafting, horse-back riding, and lunch. The cost of $75/person is a great value for money for this pack. A great breakfast was serve in the restaurant every morning also included in the price. We had two meals at the restaurants in the Lodge and this were excellent. Another night we went to a soda in Curubande where we had a good meal for cheaper. At last, the check in process and the explanation of activities and places to visit in the nearby beautiful Rincon de la Vieja National Park was great, thanks to Melissa at the reception who went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. Thanks Melissa at the reception, the staff at the restaurant, the bartender at the wet bar, and the guides at the adventure activities for providing great service!
Cons: I would have liked to have a place in the lodge with tables designated to have a picnic and some place to hang wet clothes. However, these are very minor issues compared to the great vacation we had in the Lodge.
7,5 Good
Pros: Close to the river, hot springs and breakfast
Cons: No fridge, everything was ok but not that special

Pros: The place is stunning, the better place to be
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: The location
Cons: The service was horrible they stopped serving st the bars at 6pm the burger was horrible. The pool was dirty. The staff wouldn’t help me get a drink at the main bar right after 6 pm. There were all kinds of bugs in our junior suite including a huge scorpion. No WiFi (only in the main building)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Everything was awesome
10,0 Excellent
Pros: absolutely beautiful it was very relaxing and comfortable
Cons: They definitely need to upgrade on those hot springs wasn’t digging them too much. And more lighting for night time
10,0 Excellent
Pros: so quiet and secluded
Cons: nothing
4,6 Okay
Pros: The hotel is amongst beautiful scenery with animals and bird within the grounds. The hotel springs were nice and the mud ‘bath’ was a fun experience. We had a lovely big jacuzzi bath with a lovely view over the valley.
Cons: We booked the property to celebrate our engagement and so booked a junior suite (the most expensive room at the hotel). Upon our arrival we were greeted with lots of wasps and other insects in the room (both dead in the window edges and alive). My fiancé spent an hour getting them out. However a few hours later there were more bugs and we noticed the doors didn’t close properly leaving a gap for them to come in. Paying 200 per night you expect it to be clean (dead bugs on the window edges, candles, lights etc) and not to be sharing the house with bugs buzzing around. As you drive up to the hotel it looks abandoned as the road bricks by the entrance are all broken. Be prepared the drive to the hotel is very bumpy. The decor of the hotel is very outdated. We booked this hotel because it showed it was close to the national park Rincon de la Vieja. However beware it is over an hour drive to the park entrance!! Additionally, upon our arrival and check in at the hotel we were given no information about the shuttle service around the grounds. We were at the top of the hill and had to walk up and down from our room to the hot springs and breakfast etc. Only when we asked about the buses driving around we were quite rudely told they can organise drop off and pick ups for us. Also, my fiancé and I are vegan and we contacted the hotel prior to booking asking if they had vegan options at the hotel. They told us they did. When we booked a table for dinner our first night we asked about ordering a vegan meal and we were quite abruptly told they didn’t have much and went on to offer us chicken, cheese and fish meals. Save to say we didn’t feel comfortable returning the next night. In regards to the staff, some were wonderful and kind (the chef by the pool house was lovely!). However the majority spent most of their time on the phones when on duty. It looks very unprofessional for a 4 star hotel. Unfortunately for us, a very disappointing stay.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The place is basically a huge, well kept Park with lots of wildlife, so the tucans, armadillos, coatis and capybaras.... are right at your doorstep. You can even start hiking to a waterslide outside the property or book their canopy tour which ends more or less at the reception. The pool area is nice and the hot spa and the mud pool are fun too. It would have be nice to have some chairs to sit at the porch.
Cons: Access to food is a bit far, at least you have to keep that in mind if you dont want to rely on the only restaurant, which is a bit on the expensive side.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: vrry good but would have enjoyed another type of selection.
Cons: another choice such as toast and cheese seletion
6,3 Good
Pros: the breakfast was great. lots of options. If would be helpful if the Omelet lady didn't run out of ingrediants though and someone checked in with her so she did have to leave her station with a line. The bathroom is off the charts. The grounds are so beautiful and well maintained. I loved the service everywhere except the front desk seemed a little put off when I would ask things. As well as disorganized. Sometimes things happened as asked and often things were lost in the shuffle. My kids rode horses everyday and LOVED It! It really added to the experience.
Cons: When we arrived the mini fridge wasn't working. I loved the view but there was no furniture on the deck. I had to ask for both usually a few times. There was some furniture which was clearly not maintained for the price we paid. We stayed for 5 nights and found the food a bit expensive, yet there were no other options for us. I would appreciate hamburgers or something casual in the evening so it didn't add up so much. I found not having wifi extremely challenging. I needed to work for a few hours a day and normally it wasn't an issue... but I had to either send the kids away on horseback and work in reception or go down after I put the kids to sleep and work later. We don't do a lot of TV....but I do like to stream a movie (I couldn't use the TV as I don't speak enough spanish)and that was unfortunate. The lack of Wifi was definately the most frustrating.

7,5 Good
Pros: Nice grounds. Good proximity to the airport.
Cons: Rooms need updating.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are big, good AC, very nice pool. They are cleaning all the time. The hotel is close to the center, but also at a very good spot on the road leading to the coast.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit boring, almost not choice besides the typical local fare: eggs and gallo pinto.
1,0 Poor
Pros: Not a dam thing!
Cons: The staff, the place is falling apart, casino closed, hot down, facilities are filthy, breakfast was edible, the receptionist was nasty rude.
6,3 Good
Pros: Remodeled rooms are nice Good a/c Pretty pools Nice restaurant and breakfast Staff is friendly Staff speak english
Cons: Loud thumping music that started st 10 and continued until 4am. Could not get a good night of sleep since I would fall asleep and then be woken up over and over. lower price available on Expedia.com
7,5 Good
Pros: Housekeeping, maintenance and restaurant staff are super kind, professional and work really hard. Umbrellas are available at the front desk to use to walk to the restaurant. Wood fired pizza, small little shack, on the property. Can order a pizza to go and take it back to the room or there are a few tables to eat outaide. Great a/c, hot water, water pressure and comfortable rooms. The beds are firm but I like that better than ones with no support. Breakfast is simple but good. The restaurant is open air, plenty of seating and wifi and tv. 24 hour securiry for guests and cars. Plenty of safe parking in the back, away from street which faces the bar which seems to be open all night and does not feel safe on that side.
Cons: The woman at reception argued with me saying I had not turned in my key when I had to change rooms because of blasting music the entire night. I had given it to a young girl who was seated behind reception. I found out she didn't even work there. i had to ask for a manager and finally tell her to look at the security camera footage to prove I had turned in the key! No clients paying for a room should be treated like this..especially when I had to take time to change rooms because of something they know is a problem but just expect people to be happy they can't get sleep because of the noise. The room I had moved to had less noise from the bar but at 3:30 am I was woken up again by loud music and the window vibrating from the bass. Some wifi problems at night. Would lose connection every hour or so.
4,2 Okay
Pros: Bed was firm and restaurant staff was very nice.
Cons: BLACK MOLD. Had to be relocated to another room.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Great pool. Decent breakfast. They have a small park which my kids loved. They also have a soccer field, a tennis court, and an outdoor volleyball court.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay here. It has beautiful grounds and it was fun to just sit and enjoy the pool. The location was also perfect as it was central to everything in the center of town, so we could eat food and go to Walmart to get some last minute supplies. It was also a quick drive from the airport, so arriving late at night, we were able to get to our hotel quickly.
Cons: The breakfast was okay. Nothing too special or ordinary. Pretty basic. Also, the gym was pretty dated, which wasn't a huge problem, but if someone really wants to workout, that would be nice to know!
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good towels, breakfast buffet and pillows. Large pool. Pretty courtyard by the pool with ample lounge chairs. Air conditioned was nice. Affordable price.
Cons: The bed was super firm with no real blanket just a super thin coverlet, the Wi-Fi was inconsistent, there was mold in the bathroom.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Exceeded expectations. Very comfortable beds and pillows, updated quiet Room, very nice pool and gardens. Super location 5 minute walk to many restaurants and shopping and grocery.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Room was clean and comfortable. Location was good.
Cons: The key card didn’t work and we had to ask staff twice to sort it. Lots of luggage trolleys but you carry your bags to your room yourself. Coffee machine in the room didn’t have a pot. WiFi did not work in the room. Gym and tennis courts were dirty.

7,7 Good (200 reviews)
8,5 Excellent
Pros: At the top of my list is the hotel staff. Warm smiles and generous service. Friendship. They responded quickly to meet my needs and expanded beyond what I asked for and made suggestions that enriched my experience. Suggestions for excursions came unprompted and they made arrangements for travel with taxi drivers they knew and had confidence in. I also greatly enjoyed the open air restaurant's cuisine. I wish I had some Aguacate de la Reina in from me right now. The whole experience left me with a permanent smile.
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing and om being dead honest. If I had to pick anything is pick the food.
Cons: Rooms are a dump !! I cannot express this any stronger, I paid 70 and I got ripped. Blankets were non existent, no a/c, no service, front desk guy was rude. Laughing and joking on a personal phone call while I was trying go check in. Not to mention the music that goes till 10pm, than fireworks. Screaming and music again at 5 am. No thanks !!
3,7 Mediocre
Pros: Restaurant was okay, close to bus station, central location
Cons: Very noisy, rooms do not have carpet, no hot water in any rooms, hot at night, airport shuttle is a rip off at $25 when you can walk across the park and catch the public bus for $2
6,2 Good
Pros: Excellent staff and great safe feel.
Cons: Hot as hell, loud external city at night, no hot water in shower.
5,1 Okay
Pros: The internal patio and The restaurant
Cons: The room didn't have ventilation and it smell really bad. They tried to make The smell better with candles but it was really strong. They gave us a free breakfast after we complained
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Very good value for money. Good location, clean, helpful and friendly staff

With a stay at Hotel Santa Ana Liberia Airport in Liberia, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Liberia Parque Central and Church of La Ermita La Agonia. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
7,9 Good
Cons: The hotel is on a very busy road and even with the white noise of the air conditioning it was quite noisy.
6,7 Good
Pros: On the good side - very nice staff, and 5 minutes from the Liberia Airport with a cheap shuttle. Room cost was a lot cheaper than other hotels near the airport. Did have wifi and AC
Cons: Minimal to no amenities - including no hot water! One bath towel per person - no hand towels or washcloths, no bedside lamp or clock. Very noisy - some noise from the floor below, plus constant highway noise - did not get to sleep much.
3,8 Mediocre
Cons: $60 was too expensive for this hotel. The lighting was a bare lightbulb. The room was tiny. Dirt marks on the wall. Overall. it was depressing. I would not stay here again. The shuttle to the airport was outrageously expensive.
4,6 Okay
Pros: I guess if I had to like something the airport was close.
Cons: I'd considered not rating it because that would be admitting I stayed there. The urine smell in the bathroom was causing me to dry heave.
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice cheap friendly hotel, good for airport transfer.
Cons: No restaurant open when we arrived at 7pm
10,0 Excellent
Pros: For the very modest cost this was a bargain. It is ideally located between airport and town (Liberia) so it's very convenient, and I felt very relaxed here. Breakfast was good, and management was alert to my needs.
Cons: I can't think of anything negative.
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: At least I could buy a drink from the cooler for dinner. Night driver to the airport was a sweet kid.
Cons: WiFi didn’t work. Restaurant was closed. I was overcharged.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It was owned by locals and definitely did not look like many of the "international" hotel chains that cost considerably more. The breakfast was great--Costa Rican style cooked fresh for us at a reasonable cost.
Cons: limited A/C; but normal for places like this in C.R.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: What I liked the most was the friendliness of the staff in reception
5,4 Okay
Pros: Right by the bus to Liberia or airport, Most staff members were helpful
Cons: No hot water, large gaps between door and door frame.
3,3 Mediocre
Cons: No restaurant facilities open as stated. Place was dirty with bugs in the room. Unusable showers. Beds were uncomfortable - felt the springs- with lumpy pillows
