Pros: Breakfast was excellent
Cons: The weather!!!
Pros: Perfect stay - combination of idyllic English pub/restaurant with pristine accommodation. Great that a good continental breakfast is included in the £80. Probably not the ideal location if visiting Oxford over a few days as it is over on the Cotswold side of Oxfordshire.
Cons: Nothing - we have stayed before when visiting family in Witney.
Pros: Excellent staff, very welcoming. Spotlessly clean, good-sized room with nice ensuite. Nice bar and very good breakfast. Very dog friendly. Nice rural location.
Cons: Room decor, though fresh and immaculate, was a little gloomy - variations of grey on all walls and doors etc., with limited light from smallish windows on the ground floor.
Pros: Large, bright, clean room - comfortable beds and bedding. Hospitable and welcoming evening staff. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast. Lovely pub area and restaurant with fireplace. Safe parking. Not noisy!
Cons: We had a great stay and there wasn't anything that we didn't like
Pros: The accommodation was an oasis after a hectic international arrival & car rental drive from Heathrow in the dark & rain. The staff were so friendly & offered advice and wrote notes for the best villages etc in the area. Thoroughly recommend.
Cons: Nothing. Except the traffic around Oxford.
Pros: Big tv and spacious room
Pros: from check in to check out the service was amazing, the staff care for your needs and go the extra mile to make sure the stay is perfect
With a stay at The Highway Inn in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum.
Pros: We loved the location, the hotel, the staff. The room was beautiful, warm and clean.
Cons: The Arial in the room for the TV kept going in and out of reception. But the biggest problem was the shower, it took ages to get hot and then it was a little trickle. I managed to get a shower with the small amount of water that came through but when my husband came to use it in the morning it wasn't coming out at all.
Pros: perfect breakfast, staff were very attentive. puppy was happy and enjoyed the walks in the area
Cons: staff asking if drinks etc could be put on the room, then this incurs a service charge. we do tip.... cash is king
Pros: Efficient very friendly staff
Cons: Lovely food!!
Pros: The room was excellent, so clean. Staff extremely friendly. Food was so tasty. Would highly recommend!
Pros: Staff was extremely friendly and helpful
Pros: The hotel was everything we wanted! Central, clean, beautifully refurbished, and really friendly staff. The bar and restaurant were both great and the food was gorgeous. Absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have asked for any more.
Cons: If you are slightly older be careful where your room is. Steps to first floor are fine but second floor is quite hard with luggage.
Cons: only had one bath towel, no hot water
Pros: Nice location and restaurant lovely staff and dog friendly
Cons: Kept banging my head as the door ways were so small (I’m not tall) noisy shower very poor water pressure in taps and shower
With a stay at Bay Tree Hotel in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We love this hotel, it's so cozy with the log fires in the bar and library. Breakfast was lovely. And our room was comfortable and clean. Only thing I noticed in the bathroom was a very rusty pipe near radiator, but it didn't spoil our stay.
Pros: Liked staff and chef obviously very good
Pros: Style and location. Was given an upgrade which made it special as celebrating my husbands birthday.
Cons: Catering service needs a bit more staff training.
Pros: The hotel was beautiful, in a beautiful setting and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We had booked a trip to the Blenheim Palace Christmas event and unfortunately forgot to print our tickets but the staff were so helpful and printed them for us, which took away our stress.
Pros: A fantastic hotel in a great location ideally situated for exploring the cotswolds, the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable, we ate in the Restaurant, but there is also a great bar food menu.
This charming hotel can be found in Burford. Travellers will enjoy a peaceful and calm stay on the premises, as it counts with a total of 11bedrooms. This accommodation does not accept pets.
Pros: Lovely rooms and location
Cons: Only a roll top bath for a couple who shower it was really impractical
Pros: Beautiful Inn full of history, great meals and staff.
Cons: Room not warm enough at times
Pros: It is a basic hotel with no frills but clean and reasonably priced.
Pros: Location was good as was the breakfast!
Cons: The staff were nice but the service was a bit a bit haphazard.
Pros: Initial impression was overtaken by the realization that the accommodation was not in the pub, but a separate building across the road. Compact, clean and if a high standard.. Food was excellent - with a good selection of wines and local cheeses.. Garden area very welcoming in the late evening.. In short we loved our stay and would highly recommend..
With a stay at The Lamb Inn in Burford, you'll be in the suburbs, within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage.
Pros: Good breakfast and helpful staff. The location is also good. Comfortable bed. One of the electrical outlets in the bedroom included USB charger sockets which is useful. Didn't try the restaurant in the evening so can't comment on that.
Cons: The car park is a bit of a walk, but that's the problem with the whole of Burford - parking is a problem! The staff are happy to help with bags though. Although the bedroom and bathroom were spacious, the sink in the bathroom was tiny.
Pros: Historic stone building, super atmosphere, great lounges bar and restaurant. Fabulous c.15 flagstones. Medieval feel with modern comforts and great artwork. Well maintained and managed, with a lovely welcome and good service throughout our stay. Restaurant especially nice, good for a special occasion, the cuisine almost faultless*. Great staff with a nice surprise for our wedding anniversary. *Scallops in our starter were very heavy on the salt, rest of the dish was fine.
Cons: Not much. Shower could be more powerful. Narrow staircase access to room 8 fine for us but might be a problem for some. Automatic 10% service charge in restaurant, I would probably have tipped the same.
Pros: The public areas are warm and cosy, upmarket country pub/home feel. Relaxed atmosphere. Clean.
Cons: Bathrooms could do with providing somewhere to put your own toiletries. There is nowhere ! And we had the four poster room, the Shepherd, so the standard rooms must be worse off. Unfortunately, we also felt that service had slipped somewhat. We have stayed before so we do have a comparison. Finally, can the kitchen staff make sure the dishwasher has done its job. One morning as many as 6 cereal bowls still had dried on cereal on them and my tea cup had dried dregs at the bottom, yuk.
Pros: Lovely hotel with an excellent location. Good food, friendly professional staff.
Pros: Brilliant location, just off the main street.Nice open fires and free newspapers in the bar.
Cons: One rasher of bacon on a full english breakfast seemed a bit mean.
Located in Witney, The Blue Boar is a 3-minute drive from West Witney Sports and Social Club and 8 minutes from Witney Lakes Golf Course. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
Pros: Lovely snug traditional pub/guesthouse. Breakfast very nice. Nice large room.
Cons: Bath was very flimsy and as it forms part of the shower it felt like you were going to fall through! Although there was a wardrobe to hang clothes, there was nowhere to put clothes such as underwear etc. A small chest of draws really is needed otherwise you're living out of your suitcase.
Pros: Exceptional food , excellent choice. Great location for exploring the area .
Cons: There was a bit of road noise as we were at front of hotel but this was solved when we closed the window .
With a stay at The Bull At Burford in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location excellent
Cons: We have been many times before. Staff were not as attentive. The breakfast was on a hotplate so not hot. This is different from before and always had exceptional service. There seems to be a problem with food at the Bull and no one explained what the problem was
Pros: Staff very friendly Breakfast really good
Cons: Bar lacks atmosphere
Pros: The room, the quiet, the comfortable bed, the excellent breakfast (even though I only ate it once), the accommodating staff (thank you for my early morning latte on the patio).
Cons: Turning off the patio lights around 11 p.m. (midnight?)..... I couldn't have my late night read outside.... a small thing, but important for me. It would have been good to have a facecloth included with the room's linens.
Pros: Check in was smooth and friendly, receptionist very helpful with advice regarding local eating places. The shower in our room did not have any cold water feed and when I phoned reception about this, they immediately gave us another room. Beds very comfortable and the duvets good quality and warm. Excellent supply of toiletries in bathroom.
Cons: Breakfast was disappointing, the hot food was dried up - had clearly been there for some time so we just had toast. We were told at check out that we were the only guests so perhaps cook to order might be best with so few people.
Pros: Our second stay at the Bull with our dog...we all love it!
Pros: Lovely hotel, very comfortable rooms with everything that you could want or need.
Cons: Room outside need better locks on the doors because anybody can walk in from the road, also front door to outside room needs a lock.
With a stay at Inn For All Seasons in Burford, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. This inn has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Historical building
Cons: Close to busy road.
Pros: This is a lovely 500 year old hotel with cosy roaring fires and comfy seating areas. We stayed two nights and the food was always hot and delicious. It's very dog friendly and our dog was even given a bonio for breakfast. The staff are really friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we had everything we required. Our room was adequate in size considering the age of the hotel and it was spotlessly clean with lovely comfy beds. It had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay in the Cotswolds and would definitely recommend.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike - it was a perfect stay.
Pros: I booked this as it was very convenient for my trip to Broadway & Burford - very easy to find and well signposted on the main road with plenty of parking and a petrol station next door. Really nice place, smart decor, plenty of space and the breakfast couldn't be faulted. Staff were friendly and efficient and as a lone traveller I felt right at home.
Cons: I was in the coaching block annex on the ground floor which was really comfy and spacious - it was slightly marred by the person upstairs who was up and down like a yoyo and kept slamming the outside door every time they went out. Perhaps a sign would do the trick?
Pros: We only stayed one night due and we were attending a wedding at the Stone Barn a few miles away but our experience at the Inn was very good. The staff were excellent and were kind enough to let us check in at 1pm so we and on leaving a gent (I should have got his name! Possibly the owner?!) gave us a lift to our car which was at the wedding venue as we couldn't get a taxi anytime soon. The building is beautiful and quirky and the room was large and comfortable. It was a shame we didn't get to spend more time there but what time we did have there and our general experience was spot on.
Cons: Shower could have been better .
Pros: Great evening meal and a fantastic breakfast.
Located in Witney, Old Swan is on a river, within a 10-minute drive of North Leigh Roman Villa and SOTA Gallery. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: THE BATHROOM RADIATOR WAS STAINED WITH URINE AND HAD STARTED TO RUST ROOM COULD HAVE HAD A THOROUGH DUST
Pros: Delicious breakfast
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Lovely room. Great staff. Fantastic live music at dinner. Great breakfast. We loved it!
Cons: Food at dinner slightly disappointing (both had Mac 'n cheese). Portions enormous and needed salad/veg or something.
Pros: Total peace and quiet
Cons: Electric car charging point in the Old Swan car park.
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, very accommodating, especially as we took our dog with us. Food was great, breakfast especially with a wide choice. Location was perfect, nice and quiet and near to local attractions and countryside. Bar and restaurant were relaxing places to drink and eat, with open fires and a good atmosphere.
Cons: Room was a bit small for a 'superior' room but met our needs, especially as we had a door to a small private courtyard which would be nice in the summer. Price was a bit steep for winter but the location probably dictates this as it's not any more expensive than other comparable places in the Cotswolds.
Pros: Beautiful room with the comfiest bed. Food and drinks in the restaurant were very good. Location was great, around a 25 minute drive from Oxford in a charming and sleepy village.
Cons: If I was to be extremely picky it would have been nice to have a vegan option for dessert other than sorbet, but it was great that they had vegan alternatives at breakfast.
Pros: The breakfast was lovely the staff were really friendly and helpful . The room was nice and cosy , clean and had everything there if needed .
Cons: There wasn’t anything what so ever I didn’t like
Pros: The lovely village location and splendid grounds, the roaring fires and tasteful country house feel.
Cons: The restaurant was a little disorganised. Four people took our orders and served us and the co-ordination was lacking and the service was therefore slow. Why not allocate given tables to specific waiting staff?
Pros: The hotel grounds and local area
Cons: The fact they have a two tier system where guests staying at the Old Swan get dining reservation preferences and their own roped off lounge area that the Minster guests cannot use
Pros: Character hotel.
Cons: Standard room very small, we stayed in the barn conversion annexe, room was very small with single glazed window which was very noisy. It felt as if we were staying in a beach hut. There was a noise in the pipes which kept us awake most of the night. Also we had to travel to a nearby pub as the restaurant(which is another pub a minute) away was full, priority to guests with bb and e meal.
Pros: We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first room was extremely hot, we spoke to reception who offered us another room without hesitation. The restaurant is excellent both for breakfast & dinner. After eating there the first night we definitely wanted to on our second night but forgot to book. So after a day out and about came back to hear it was fully booked being Saturday. However the staff were brilliant and said they would manage to squeeze us in and we weren't disappointed, the steak was perfect along with everything else! Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and setting. Will definitely go back.
Pros: I liked the helpful staff in the restaurant who worked extremely hard on the sturday evening of our stay.
Cons: I stayed in room 121 which was awful and i have complained personally to Diane Cornish the sales manager and i have yet to have the courtesy of a reply to my comments.
Pros: Setting and location excellent. Public rooms nice
Cons: Scandinavian type rooms (118) were very very small. Little wardrobe and storage space. Walls were paper thin. We could hear neighbours even when they were whispering and using bathroom! Flight path from nearby RAF base. No double galzing. It was clear the accommodation was geared to single people on conferences/workshops. Massive disappointmant!
Pros: Lovely setting, staff very friendly. Lovely meal.
Cons: There were no biscuits on the hospitality tray.
Pros: Location Staff and service
Pros: The reception and cleaning staff were extremely friendly and welcoming The setting is delightful and the food in the restaurant was very good.
Cons: Our bath room was very cold - no apparent heating and interesting though the high ceilings are, there was a draught. This did not spoil our stay but if the weather had been colder it might have done.
With a stay at The Cotswold Gateway Hotel in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Good size family room and lovely breakfast
Cons: Bathroom very dirty - need to make sure they are deep clean - lots of fluff/hair in corners etc
Pros: Everything good, nice room, pleasant staff. Good continental breakfast included in price, even on New Year’s Day and good selection of cooked breakfasts at extra cost.Ate in Restaurant without booking and had very enjoyable meal.
Cons: Nice location but not that easy to find. Had to use iPad maps which we usually manage without, but no problem using that. Couldn’t find way in after evening out. No lock on main door which was closed. Side entrance at front has to be used in that position, but cannot see the plaque to tell you that as no light on it in the dark. We ended up entering through the kitchen!
Pros: Very convenient as a halfway point and Broadway is beautiful Staff very helpful and friendly
Cons: Mattress was a bit lumpy No side light by one of our beds
Pros: Immediate felt at ease & at home & the friendly and consistent staff made our stay so enjoyable.
Cons: A little dusty and bathrooms could do with a little redecoration.
Pros: Lovely location to enjoy the gorgeous town of Burford. Views down the hill and into the distance are beautiful. Nice staff, dinner and breakfast were ok.
Cons: Shower was poor - trickly.
Pros: Room and hotel were very nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: Drinks and food were expensive
Pros: Staff making us feel well taken care of.
Cons: On a busy street
Pros: The pub was great and while a bit far from town the location was very good.
Pros: We only stayed for one night but it was great to get there and park at the hotel, book in dump our bags in the room and have a couple of drinks in the bar. We had a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit basket in our room, we chose to eat in the bar, we could have eaten in the restaurant, the food was gorgeous and the staff very friendly. it really is a beautiful old hotel a good breakfast in the morning. I probably would not have chosen the four poster room if another had been available, just because of the extra expense but on the other hand we do like a room within the hotel rather than in the courtyard of a hotel
Cons: nothing to fault
Pros: Excellent food and very convenient location
Cons: The fire alarn at 2.45am with no guidance or advice from the staff as to the problem
Pros: Lovely hotel, high standards but a relaxed and warm atmosphere. Really good food, very nice bar with good beer and a log fire (it was November after all), rooms clean, comfortable and well appointed. Popular with the local community too, always a good sign.
Pros: Convenience of location, comfort of the hotel, courteous, friendly and helpful attitude of all the staff, good quality food
Pros: Location and value
Cons: The attitude of certain staff members
Pros: The hotel was in a great position to visit Burford and surrounding area. The food was first class and in fact servings were too generous! Lovely olde worlde hotel
Cons: Would have liked a firmer bed
Pros: Very clean. Accessibility. Easy to park. Walking distance to town centre.
Cons: Lack of tv channels. People expect some Sky channels now. Slight road noise.

Pros: Amazing hotel and staff
Pros: Mostly friendly, approachable and helpful staff. Room decor was current. Views were lovely and the food was delicious.
Cons: Limited snacks in bar and No snacks - food served after 6 in bar (pm)

Pros: The breakfast was great and the staff all very helpful. The hotel had a great personality.
With a stay at Burford Lodge in Burford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Cotswold Wildlife Park and Tolsey Museum. Featured amenities include luggage storage and an elevator.
Pros: Lovely and clean, bed very comfortable had a great night sleep. Breakfast was of good quality and severed hot . Leo was very helpful and polite
Pros: Leo is a great host in a great value location on the edge of Burford. Good bar and restaurant including home made Chinese specialities. Beef dumpling especially good.
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the staff.were very helpful and kind
Cons: I didn't like the cobwebs in the bedroom
Pros: Bedrooms OK - comfortable bed - clean - but dated furniture. Very helpful staff but only one spoke English. Good parking on site. Walking distance from Burford.
Cons: No lounge - only part of the dining room so nowhere to sit for the 4 of us after 6 pm on Sunday night. Only Chinese food in the evening and fairly expensive for what you get.
Pros: The whole experience was great and our host brilliant. The breakfast was plentifull. Will stay at the Burford Lodge again
Cons: The bathroom was very cold and the fan heater in there did not work.
Cons: The room we were given was cold and smelt. Everything was old shabby and broken. But worst of all it was dirty. It had the felling of creepy decay. We wanted to leave but the manager refused to give us a refund. He laughed and said he had our money if we stayed or not. We were eventually moved and the second room was better but not worth the money. The place was so dirty we did not want to eat there.
Pros: The room was comfortable.
Cons: The shower head kept slipping down on the riser rail and spraying all over the place which wasn't great so had to have a bath. The room was comfortable but the furniture was a little shabby. I'm not keen on deep fried hash browns for breakfast and the sausages were very cheap, the scrambled egg was overcooked. I had hoped that they would serve evening meals but when I arrived was told it was the chef's night off so had to go back out again to eat which as the Lodge is a little out of Burford meant I had to get back in the car in search of supper, which wasn't ideal.

With a stay at The Rose Revived by Greene King Inns in Witney, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Frilford Heath Golf Club and Witney Lakes Golf Course. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant each morning and the pub is on a nice part of the river. Such good value for money
Cons: When I booked I thought this stay would be near pubs/ restaurants that we could walk to... however you have to drive if you want to not have dinner / drinks in the hotel (around 15 mins). The pub isn’t really an atmosphere for just drinking... not sure if it was the time of year we went and if in the summer it would be better. Was slightly disappointed with the location.
Pros: Location spot on. Price was just right and the Breakfast was excellent. Staff were efficient and helpful.
Cons: A few bits and pieces in the bathroom and the bedroom needed slight attention. A tip - periodically try sitting on the loo seat and take a critical look around the room from ceiling down the walls to floor taking in wash basin and shower etc. Also do same in bedroom.
Pros: Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Comfortable room with river view. Shower but no bath ( suits us) Breakfast cooked to order was excellent. We had 2 evening meals which were very good value.
Cons: Being picky I think the cereal selection a bit boring. I would have liked some home made myself. However the cooked breakfast and toast was excellent
Pros: Great spot by the river fantastic view Good breakfast Stayed there a few years ago good then but it has now been refurbished and was just what we were looking for.
Cons: Only complaint about breakfast which was good value Tea should be in a teapot not water from a pump action that can not be the right temperature for tea.
Pros: Plentiful hot water, comfortable bed, friendly staff
Cons: Room tired and shabby. Peeling plaster, scuffed walls and rotting window frame.

Pros: The radiator covers was fauling off bathroom had botched up paint radiator cover comming off bed was amazing bathroom very tired
Cons: Bathroom needs painting and radiator Covers sorting out
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The breakfast was good and the staff very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.
Cons: I would have liked a larger hand basin, it was the size intended for a cloakroom and there was no mirror in the bathroom.
Pros: Huge, comfy four poster bed. A large warm room.
Pros: Excellent breakfast. It is not often I have a perfectly cooked omelette in a hotel.

Pros: Breakfast lovely
Pros: Lovely comfortable stay
Cons: Hearing people using toilets in other rooms
Pros: Very quite and cozy
Pros: The bedroom was one of the nicest I've stayed in on my travels.
Cons: Was a great hotel overall. Staff was friendly. Room was very nice. Food was good there. Great location too with easy access to the town centre & also to Oxford itself.
Pros: Lovely clean spacious rooms ..nice touch having tea &coffee making falsities in room ..such a comfortable bed & Tv great views ..
Cons: Coffee machine was out of action in the bar area.. & a few beers had ran out ...Swimming area/ changing room area was a little dirty with hair & people’s muddy shoe prints ..Hot tub was also out of action which was really disappointing especially when we had booked for a birthday weekend & we couldn’t use it..
Pros: Always a nice clean and friendly hotel.
Cons: The prices of drinks in the bar are disproportionate to local pubs & restaurants , ie too high !
Pros: Everything else was very good value for the money
Cons: The showers were painfully bad
Pros: Unfortunately my husbands flight was early and I was not able to have breakfast, hence the disagreement on that question.
