The crew at the restaurant
The room was very basic, much below a 4 stars hotel!
The staff were all friendly some spoke English the meals were great Spanish style with lots of choices, healthy options and. The rooms were great with new bathroom and lots of hot water for the shower. You need to take your own shampoo and conditioner My mum an I had a wonderful stay very relaxing and comfortable
The thermal baths were clean but the decor was dated and in need of an refurb.
The location was very interesting and the breakfast was good. The old hotel part was very nice and I liked how the community used the facilities.
I booked the spa experience and it was awful. I was booked in with two men which was very uncomfortable. I arrived at my booking time and some guest starting going off at me in Spanish. I don't know why. The attendants repeatedly asked to see my ticket so I ended up just leaving. I wish I'd just used the public spa area. On leaving I couldn't get out of the carpark as the receptionist told me the gate was open and it wasn't. I then couldn't get back into the hotel as I had checked out. This was the only place in Spain where I had language problems.
Breakfast was fine in content and it was provided hot (as applicable). The dining room is "basic" ; (a bit of a "canteen" atmosphere) with tables in close proximity. Unfortunately for us, the room was very busy as the Hotel had a significant "pension" - "O.A.P." habitation, and absolutely without any criticism of the other residents, the Hotel staff were quite busy. Perhaps we encountered "one of those week's" ? However, the Hotel staff carried out their work efficiently and in good humour.
A long walk between the Reception and our room. The Hotel layout is a bit "dis-jointed", and initially a map would be useful. The "Spa" is not a normal relaxation, as everybody has a sequence to [strictly] follow to use each facility, which is somewhat haphazardly organised. Something in the waters leaves a bright yellow stain (to bathing clothing, hair colour and even the bathroom towels) which is not nice.
the balneario was pretty good and included in the price. The breakfast was above average for a Spanish hotel but the croisants were stale on the second day and what was supposed to be scrambled egg (and was on the first day) had been replaced by some strange concoction which we did not even try! Coffee was excellent. Staff were very pleasant and as helpful as they could be. Parking was well priced at €6 a night. Airconditioning in the room was perfect!
The safe was not working and took until the second day to get fixed. The balcony door lock was broken and again took until the next day to get fixed. The WIFI did NOT work in the room, only in the public areas. The swimming pool was nice but far to difficult to reach for those of limited mobility. There was also too much walking generally, room to dining area, room to parking, room to balneario. I am able to walk fine for a few hundred yards but on occasions that was not enough! The evening meal menu was so unappealing we went out to a restaurant each evening. On the whole I do NOT think this hotel justifies a 4 star rating (no room service for one thing). The TV controller had had the menu controls disabled so it was impossible to adjust the language for English language films. Again mentioned to reception but absolutely no action. I think maybe (looking at the evening menu) this hotel is stuck somewhere between the social security standard and that expected of a fully private hotel. There was a concert in the park opposite the hotel each evening, fortunately we had a room on the back of the hotel (with absolutely no view except a brick wall) so did not suffer much fro the noise but potential guests really shoudl be warned by YOU when this kind of problem exists. Although the balneario was OK the first Mineralised warm bath had missing tiles and was actually somewhat dangerous for those of a certain age! Finally, at first when we (as normal) removed the acces card from the slot to disconnect the lights when leaving the room of course the air con also turned off, OK BUT it would not turn on again when we returned to the room without a phone call to reception whose action was far from instant.
