I loved the location. The food was very good. Reception staff always very helpful. I will be back.
Good location for fell walking. Didn't need to use the car once. Ample space in the apartment for 2 people. Really good views of surrounding scenery. Kitchen and dining facility was great in the apartment.
Cleanliness of the room could have been better. Decor in communal spaces was tired and worn. Bathroom was a little dated and water pressure was poor making showering a chore. We did not use the hotel complex facilities so unable to comment on the general hotel.
How close it was to local public walkways, the apartment idea is hreatm
We were charged extra (£30) upon arrival *NOT stated upon booking* for having a dog with us, even though this was not prior stated upon booking. We didn't have any water for over 2 hours on our first morning (Sunday) there due to another room having a boiler replacement. Again, noone told us about this, we were unable to brush our teeth or shower until early afternoon. We called the reception area around 10.15am to be told the water would be back on in due course, we waited until 12.30 and still nothing. We had to take our toothbrushes with us out and bought water to brush teeth away from the room. The lack of water meant I also couldn't give my dog water in the morning and had to wait until we were on the go. I queried the extra monies paid that was not stated on booking and the lack of water and all I got was that the water wasn't their fault and nothing they could do about it and the £30 was because of the dog. We were offered free breakfast to keep us happy, but when we went for the breakfast the next morning as we had the dog we had to sit in the bar area (not an issue to us, it was quiet and off carpet so understand the need for this)but this appeared an inconvenience to the member of staff waitressing, she didn't know we were having a breakfast and why, she had to go and authorise it and then was very sharp when I explained why we couldn't sit in the main dining hall. You would think for £300 there would be at least a courtesy call to all rooms explaining the issue with the water, and a note to state there will be an extra charge of £10 per night for the dog - even in an email confirmation OR on booking.com. The decor in the room was also messy, In particularly the bathroom, gaps in the tiles, etc.
Comfy room, great location, and good price
The surroundings outside, that is all @
The only good thing is the setting of the hotel. It is very shabby in all areas and in desperate need of up dating properly instead of covering up and patching up. For the money paid for 1 night we expected a much cleaner, better standard hotel. Staff at breakfast, one in particular. extremely rude and did not react well when we asked if a table could be cleaned so we could sit there. He told us it was for an ex concord pilot !!!! needless to say no pilot appeared. In desperate need of painting and re plastering as well as exposed electrical wires needing to be boxed in. Choice of cold buffet breakfast very poor. We complained to management but no offer of part refund. Do not recommend and would not stay again....very dissappointed to say the least !!
