Pros: Exceptional host: warm, welcoming, relaxed, friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable stay and a fantastic local pub too (The Castle) where we spent New Years Eve with live music (they were great too). You can't go wrong if you stay here!
Cons: The only tiny thing I could say is that the bathroom was compact and the shelf under the mirror made it difficult to clean my teeth because you bang your head on it when you bend down to the sink, but that is literally it!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: From check-in to checkout Tracey and John could not have been better hosts. The room was exceptionally clean and well appointed, with 'proper' hot shower! Breakfast was a very welcome start to the day, (tarragon mushrooms superb according to my wife and I recommend the full English) . Thanks to the hosts for a very enjoyable stay.
Cons: I can't think of anything that could have made our stay more pleasant. The house parrot even spoke to me!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Andy couldn’t do enough for us, his home is immaculate and his cooking superb. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for having us.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcome on arrival. Glad to have a very quiet room at the back and generally have a quiet restful overnight stay. Breakfast menu looked really good and there was a real variety of things on offer. Unfortunately I don't have much of an appetite at breakfast but it all seemed very nicely presented and very good value in the inclusive overnight price. Also had an interesting food and drinks menu for other times of day which I didn't sample but sounded good.
Cons: Bathroom was spotless and excellent shower and good towels but as a very small inconvenience I found the tiny handbasin a little bit difficult to use and ended up splashing water on the floor. Not really a complaint, rather a comment.

Overview Reviews

7,9 Good
Pros: The Dorchester was very welcoming - it was clean, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was nice and had a good selection to choose from. And thank you for the soya milk!
Cons: How the curtains hung meant that there was a large gap between the wall and curtain which meant that the first morning light broke through. We solved this by lifting the curtain up and propped on the window ledge. It would help if the prices for room snacks were more visible - perhaps mount on the wall?
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Reasonable breakfast Excellent trust bar with excellent stock and even better prices Excellent public transport right at front door not only for town but many surrounding area
5,8 Okay
Pros: Host's superb, breakfast excellent but sadly the cleaning of the room let the hole week down, bed was like concrete, not once was our room cleaned and we had to buy some cleaning products and do the bathroom ourselves, sadly it ruined our week. Filthy to be honest, sad but very true.....
Cons: Our room wasn't cleaned, it was absolutely filthy in places, yes some people would say your at the end of the season... But is that an excuse for staying in filthy room's, No... If you can't be asked then get someone who can as this spoiled our break, basic cleaning....
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else
Cons: Your website said it was 800yds from the beach . It isn't.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: A long established Victorian bed and breakfast. The current owners, James and Lewis had only just taken over the business as a going concern in April 2019 with our visit just at the start of the "off season" in mid October. We were warned that redecorating of the public rooms had over run and it was clear from the bare walls that work was still very much in progress. The guest house was a little spartan, but there was an honesty bar, selection of DVDs and public lounge. In the bedroom was a small refrigerator stocked with complimentary bottled water with a selection of chargeable beers and soft drinks. Tea/Coffee making facilities. Small flat screen TV with DVD player. Excellent WiFi. Enjoyable full English breakfast. The package deal price was very reasonable and certainly good value for money.
Cons: The bedroom was compact with a standard size double bed. The ensuite bathroom was "bijou" with an oddly placed shelf very close to the basin. Shower worked OK, but hot water took a while to run. Bathroom fittings were bargain basement. The premises was certainly looking very "tired", but no doubt the ongoing redecorating will address this issue.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional Accomodation! Incredibly welcoming, one of the best B&B's we have stayed in! Breakfast was also amazing, very wide range of choice and brilliant service! We couldn't recommend it enough!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: On arrival we were met by James and Lewis with a warm welcome, we were shown around and the whole place is very well presented, the in-house bar is a lovely touch and very comfortable, James and Lewis were always at hand to answer any questions and the attention to detail was spot on, Breakfast was plenty-full and tasty. I would return again even though its a little walk from the main town but substituting that with piece and comfort most certainly wins me over.

Pros: We had a nice welcome and our room was ready even though we were a couple of hours early. We had a very attractive room overlooking the garden, with comfortable chairs, fridge and very modern bathroom. The breakfast was good and the staff were very attentive. We only booked one night but I wish we had gone for more because we could have made more use of the terrace, garden and swimming pool especially since it was lovely weather.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Set in a beautiful hillside location overlooking Ilfracombe. We stayed in the Garden Room, complete with attached balcony and views over the town and the hotels extensive gardens, including outdoor pool! The room is of exceptional size and the host, Nicky, could not do enough for us. She met us on arrival and ensured we had all the information we needed for a short, relaxing break. It was my wife's birthday and a lovely bottle of wine was waiting for us in the room. A lovely touch. The breakfast room was delightful and the breakfasts were cooked to order (at a time of your choosing) with a great choice of cereal, toast, juices and yoghurts also on offer. The hotel itself dates back to 1792 and there is parking available on site. Nicky went the extra mile again by ensuring our space was closest to our room as I have mobility issues. The Garden Room, incidentally, is on the ground floor. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We had to cut short our visit by a day but we will definitely revisit this beautiful part of England. Thanks Nicky. You are an asset to both the hotel and the town.
Cons: The weather. Not even Nicky can control that. At least not yet;
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Breakfast was excellent lovely food and well presented! Really enjoyed it! Views from our room of the harbour and surrounding country side were astounding a real pleasure! Sharon and Daryl were most welcoming and pleasant and spoke to each one of the guests each morning. A really enjoyable weekend and a beautiful place to stay.
Cons: The only thing I did not like even though it did not change my opinion of the place was the bed! It was not the most comfortable of beds I have ever slept in as it was quite lumpy and gave me a bad back each morning. My fault that I did not mention it but was so pleased with everything else felt it was unfair to complain about the bed

Pros: We stayed Laston house at the end of the season, and were the only guests. However this didn’t matter at all as the hosts were so welcoming and friendly and the service was excellent. Breakfast was delicious and the bedroom v pleasant with a comfy bed and lots of hot water for a bath at the end of a great days walking. Would definitely recommend Laston House for a central and v friendly location to stay in Ilfracombe.

Pros: Gregg was a great host, because the B&B was fairly quiet he upgraded my room at no extra cost and gave lots of recommendations for places to visit during my stay (the storm in a teacup cafe was lovely!). The room and communal areas were clean and beautifully decorated. Great location, only 5 minutes walk to the harbour, really comfy bed and I enjoyed the delicious breakfast every morning. Highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Ilfracombe!
Cons: Would've been good to find out about the honesty bar at the beginning of my stay as I would definitely have used it!
