Pros: The breakfasts were great - the full English was delicious and on the second day I had scrambled egg with smoked salmon, a real treat. Alan and Alison were very friendly and welcoming and we appreciated Alan's tip on where to eat on our second evening.
Cons: What would have made our stay even more comfortable would have been to have somewhere to sit together indoors given the weather and time of year. I appreciate that the owners use the downstairs rooms for their own purposes which meant there was no guest lounge, but having an additional comfy chair in the bedroom would have been a nice touch. And a small thing - some biscuits to go with the tea and coffee.

Pros: Everything from the location to the cosy room large bed and gorgeous bathroom.Even the drive over the Corny fell in the rain wind and low cloud and daunting roads. The view from the room was lovely even with the low cloud over the hills in the back ground. A short drive to muncaster castle with lovely gardens and a owl and hawk sanctuary .

Pros: Everything was excellent including the food. The grounds were very pleasant and the location in beautiful surroundings. Our room was very comfortable with an excellent bathroom which was a nice surprise. All the staff were friendly and efficient..

5,0 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly, with exception to the breakfast staff. Value for money appeared good. The bed was large, comfortable and bedding was clean and soft. Beautiful setting, spoiled by the negatives internally.
Cons: The bathroom was of poor quality, and my WC had an incinerator behind that continued to go off through the night, regardless of it being used. VERY noisy too! Stained shower and bath, tiling was loose, yes loose!

Pros: Everything was very clean and tidy. Our room was spacious and the king-size bed was very comfortable. The general ambiance was warm and friendly and the staff were attentive and pleasant. The dining room is light and airy. All meals we had were excellent both in quality and quantity. 7,1 Good
Pros: Location fabulous. Food & staff brilliant
Cons: Booked single room. Window in room single glazed and could feel cold wind coming through it. It was particularly cold day on arrival so room was really cold. Only small radiator which was not adequate. I know it’s an old inn and windows in keeping with age of property but made for an uncomfortable night. I would of complained at reception but only there for 1 night and didn’t want to make a fuss

Pros: Large room, lovely views
Cons: Room cold , asked for extra heating and said they didn’t have a extra heater, offered a blanket, but it was the room that was cold
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great food - -check out the specials board. Really nice beers and whiskies too!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Just about everything. Food, drinks, views, staff, and the heated bathroom floor! Beautiful local walks in this most remote area of the Lakes.
Cons: Cost wise it was a little more than I'm used to paying for a room, but that said, the price was comparable with everywhere else in the area, and the price was right for the hotel, and my room was wonderful! The food and drinks were priced as they should be. One other thing, would have liked breakfast a little later on Sunday.
5,8 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and the location is great. The bar area is nice and cosy.
Cons: Booked 3 double rooms here because the advert says it is pet friendly, only later did we discover that this only applies to the bar area not the rooms, therefore the dog owners had to stay elsewhere. The owners of the hotel new the situation, but at no point did they offer a refund or discount on the unused room. The rooms are tired and in need of decorating and out of the 3 rooms we paid for only one was a decent size..

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Really nice place
5,0 Okay
Cons: We couldn’t get into the property on our arrival as there were no staff and the key box they suggested when we phoned them was empty, we had to be let in by another guest, we stayed for 3 nights and didn’t see a single member of staff the whole time. The establishment was advertised as a hotel but it felt a lot more like a hostel. We would not recommend and will not be returning.
