9,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff, food and establishment were great!
7,0 Good
Pros: The location was amazing! Everything seemed very new, the room was clean and the stuff very nice and helpful. They took care A LOT about every guest and wanted to help as much as possible - they drove us to the city, which was very nice.
Cons: They room service was not good in level to the price you are paying there. It’s very simple, nearly no bathroom amenities, no welcome gifts ( fruits) etc..Also it’s written there is no room service under 5 days- then they did it every day - but one it seemed like they forgot to make the bed.. Also toilet paper was empty without them noticing. The breakfast is good and sufficient but quite simple. Too simple for the price you are paying. Generally we expected more “luxury-resort-feeling” and less “good-quality-of-hostel-feeling” but the location and the beach covered up a lot!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is so nice and friendly, very good place for relaxing time!!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was simple and good. Room was clean with all the basic amenities. Car and bike rental are available at the vicinity. We were welcomed as part of the family and we can't thank you enough to all of the staffs esp Josh., the manager.
Cons: Nothing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: This is a very friendly hotel with an international feel. The manager is American who goes out of his way to look after his guests. The hotel is next to a little beach which is safe for swimming. To explore the island you really need to hire a car as the buses are infrequent. There are cars and bikes available to rent at the hotel.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Fantastic American manager and his wonderfully kind and friendly Japanese & European staff who make you feel like part of the family. We had a superb week here in a 2/3 bed villa. They kindly collected us from the airport & we hired a car from them as the hotel is a little remote. Easy to drive round the island though & super snorkelling 5 minutes away. Small pool which the kids loved & right on a little beach. Fantastic atmosphere created by the staff at the hotel meant that we chatted with other guests & the kids made friends. Delicious breakfasts & good restaurant for dinner. There were plenty of other dinner options a short drive away too.
Cons: Nothing
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality team were great. Thanks to Josh, Nariko, Tony and Natsumi for making our stay comfortable and making us feel looked after. For food, there are restaurants nearby, and in the main town. That said we are twice at the resort - once on the Sunday communal bbq (do ask the team to turn off the lights at night - you can see the milky way!) - and then a second time for the Yakiniku traditional Japanese BBQ. Both were very tasty, on the yakiniku especially the meat is great (Ishigaki beef is so good!) And the price is very competitive. The location is on the quiet north side of the island. I would definitely recommend renting a car, which the hotel team can arrange for you for a much more competitive price than the airport / "big name" rental companies. With a car you can visit all parts of the island easily, there are a number of nearby coves and quiet beaches where you can frequently be the only people on the beach!! The view of the sea is fantastic from the terrace and the poolside. Our room also faced directly out to the beach and sea, a great view to wake up to each morning. Be aware as this resort on the beach side and in a secluded location, there will be some bugs and local fauna about the venue. We found them fine, the team clean up the site so anything you see at night will have disappeared by the time you wake for breakfast the next day. The beds were comfy and the air con powerful. The shower and bathrooms were a little basic but they did their job. We would love to return to Ishigaki one day, and I think we would come back to Sunset Cove for the hospitality and peaceful location.
Cons: None.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Great accommodation with a fantastic host and staff (big thank you to Josh, Natsumi and Tony)! We loved the familiar atmosphere that Josh creates and definitely want to come back. The location is fantastic, at a tranquil little stretch of sand but still easily accessible by car. The main building features great style with a lot of wood. The food is very tasty as well - highly recommend to have dinner there at least once during your stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfasts, great staff, location spectacular & great ocean views.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The manager was really good, helpful and went out of his way to make sure everything was right for us.
Cons: No comment

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, air flow, balcony is very good even it is small in size
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Great stuff, comfortable room with small balconies. We liked the fresh breakfast and the tea and coffee bar that was available all day for free. They also had shirts to lent and a point system if you skip the room service. Great hotel! I would come back here.
Cons: The beds are quiet small and bit too hard for my comfort. Also you need to let your car key at the reception which I found a bit confusing and weird.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, free bicycle renting (bike not so good, but it is free!), water and tea available on the ground floor. Good price-quality ratio. Well located. Appreciate you can choose options for room cleaning.
Cons: Breakfast was just ok. Not so many options.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very nice and the rooms very clean
Cons: A bit far from the port , no closet in the room
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staffs were so kind and friendly, the room is always clean and I really liked aloha shirts they borrowed us for free!
7,5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great. Laundry facilities very good. View of sea.
Cons: Double bed was tiny even for Japan standards. Not really suitable for two western size people. Room all up not very comfortable.

Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location very handy for bus and ferry transfers and commuting. Staff highly polite and friendly able to communicate in English. Free herbal teas and free Hawaiian shirts to go out during the day (they must be returned). Great local breakfast (unusual as we hoped and expected)
Cons: Only one small detail. The bed was not big enough but both me and my wife are quite tall not just for japanese standard

Pros: Staffs are very nice and prepared the map showing the cafe and restaurants nearby. So chill at roof top, you can see so many stars at night. Basic bedroom suitable for budget traveler. Good location. 3 mins walk to Shiraho beach. And just 5 mins drive to airport. Quite and lovely neighborhood with a little pig and sheep in front of the house.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: I knew the staff would be great, but they truly exceeded expectations. They were incredibly kind and it was clear they wanted to make our experience on the island a memorable one. Very grateful for all their help during our stay.
7,0 Good
Pros: The staff were brilliant and extremely helpful. They help you plan your time in Ishigaki & make reservations for you. They also pair you with other fellow lone travellers to enjoy trips together. From the roof terrace tou can see the beautiful stars at night and the amazing sunrise over the sea at 6am. Beach 3 min walk, local shop and a few restaurants which I highly recommend. The locals were very friendly and helpful. Bus pass 2000¥ from bus driver for 5 days. Excellent value.
Cons: The bedroom was extra small so difficult to get dressed in there. The wifi was poor in bedroom and outside terraces. Buy a 2000¥ 5 day bus pass to get you into town. The last return bus is at 9pm, so if you want to stay out in the city at night, it will be difficult. However, I loved the rural nature of this property and was glad to be away from the city.
7,5 Good
Pros: Shiraho guest house is a very nice place to stay because it is in a quite district, near to all beaches by car, plus there are two fantastic men (hiro and yoya) who run the guesthouse that will explain to you each day what is the better beach and place to see/discover. Thanks for all. I hope to have the possibility to come back soon.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best and friendliest guesthouse that I stayed in during my travels in Okinawa! They will really make sure that you know where to go on the island, and help you so you can get there. 8,8 Excellent
Pros: The pension was very nice and The owner of the pension was very kind and useful. She was always available for suggestion and tips, she reserved for us restaurant and also the best sushi in town, then when I told her I am not a big fan of Japanese breakfast with soup or tofu, she prepared for me always bread and hams with yogurt which was very appreciated.
Cons: We liked everything, nothing to complain about.Location was very nice, in front of a resort with very nice beach. Only advice is to rent a car, If not you're far from everything but the resort so you cannot enjoy the island. We had a car, so everything was OK.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfy
Cons: There should have been ash trays on the deck at the back of the room
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good, both western and japanese. You can rent a bike and ask for advice, the owner is really friendly and helpful!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Tomoko was an excellent host who answered all our questions. We often walked to the nearby Fusaki Resort to go to the beach and pick up snacks at their indoor store. Ishigaki is a stunning place!
Cons: Not necessary a bad thing, depending on what you are looking for, but the location is a bit far removed from town and the bus runs only 5-6 times a day.
Intercontinental - Ana Ishigaki Resort - Ishigaki - Building

8,7 Excellent (2 237 reviews)

There are many leisure facilities to fulfill your vacation, and you can enjoy walking, year-round garden pools, treatment spas, indoor pools and short golf. It is also famous as a resort known as the first starry sky reserve in Japan. You can also visit other islands within about 30 minutes by ferry, which is a convenient base for traveling around the island.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and clean
Cons: Rental towels for the pool
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, complimentary valet parking, sea view balcony, clean and spacious room, pretty gardens!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, easy to walk around the resort
Cons: Wifi slow
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We were in the coral wing with the view of the sea. We usually went to the beach in the morning, lunch in the buffet restaurant, dessert in the lounge, And then swimming pool in the afternoon, sometimes a snack in the little shop. The hotel could provide all we needed for a lazy holiday.
Cons: The little stones on the beach are annoying when barefoot. The queue for breakfast could be long, we were not used to the idea of having to queue for breakfast. But then it is probably just for the peak season.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location. Bath products. View from bedroom
6,3 Good
Pros: I enjoyed the breakfast choices however their coffee was just ok. I liked the warm indoor pool. And their suite which however could not be offered to me until my check out and was reimbursed with points. To me it would have made a big difference if we were allowed to keep the suite for the entire duration of our stay especially since we are Ambassador members and we pay extra for these things but this is always the case with Intercontinental: they cannot offer an upgrade or will not offer for the entire duration of stay. Other than that...unless you have a suite, the rooms are boring and old fashioned. Everything is bland and impersonal. It is, as usual, too expensive for the standard but this is how it often is in Japan.
Cons: I didn’t like the beach where you cannot just walk or swim like on a normal beach...everything is fenced around like a pool for animals...it is discouraging already when you look outside the window and see the small “fenced” swimming area. Kids were everywhere...this is less relaxing...the hotel is a family hotel.
7,0 Good
Pros: The hotel was spacious and comfortable. The hotel restaurant food was delicious. There is a free public bath or onsen, segregated by gender, allowing people to unwind in the hot pool
Cons: Although i have seen reviews that the hotel was not value for money, i chose to stay there as it was my first time in ishigaki and I wanted convenience (near the beach, and one of the stops on the public bus line). But I wouldn’t come back to stay if I came to ishigaki another time. Given that it is located at Maezato beach, It would have been better if they allowed free parasols or seats for hotel guest as a hotel perk.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: quiet, peaceful,
Cons: long way to the visit any sightseeing
6,3 Good
Pros: Nice pool
Cons: I found the cockroach in the room
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The facility , the location, close to beach, nice restaurants
Cons: A bit pricey

3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Location

10,0 Excellent
Pros: must try the breakfast it’s quite value for money, plus it’s delicious. Staff don’t speak English but she let me check in ahead of time which is quite nice. Location is very good, near the ferry and center. Got the last room of the hostel which with the view of the harbor, lucky!
Cons: None
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly even though she spoke limited English and I speak very little Japanese. Breakfast was extra but well worth it for what you get and the very little cost. The room was nothing fancy but was clean, comfortable and plenty spacious considering typically Japanese hotel room sizes. The location was very convenient being close to the bus station, the ferry terminal, a harbor, local markets, and lots of restaurants.
Cons: There is no elevator which was not a problem for me but could be an issue for some, especially if you pack heavy and need to get your luggage up the spiral staircase. No electric kettle in the room for making tea/coffee but there was a filtered hot water tap downstairs in the common room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, small but really nice. Rolf Beutel
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located to shops, restaurants, bus and ferry terminal. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean, basic and good value for money. Nice breakfast. Will stay again if coming back to Ishigaki

The breakfast is absolutely fantastic for 100 yen and the owner is extremely kind and accommodating. Fantastic stay and highly recommend to anyone visiting Ishigaki!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Narita-san was so sweet and helpful. You can't beat the location or the cleanliness of this place. It was very minimalist but that is not to say all your comforts weren't provided for. Every consideration was met. I would definitely love to stay here again.
Cons: Loved everything!

Pros: Location is great - right next to the port and bus terminal. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel provided free smartphone for our use. Breakfast was ok.
Cons: English level of staff
10,0 Excellent
Pros: - Excellent location within 5-10 minutes walk to shopping, convenient stores and some of the best restaurants at Ishigaki. Also very close to the only dive shop MC21 here. - Super helpful staff who relentlessly assisted me as the organiser of a dive trip for 12 non-Japanese staying at Cucule. - Availability of a special room for washing and drying dive equipment. - Nice gesture of giving small gifts on a daily basis to guests for being environmentally friendly when full cleaning of room is not required - Clean rooms.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Such a central location just next to the bus terminal and ferry and just around the corner you have convinience store Family Mart which is open 24/7 and has ATM which accepts foreign cards. Delicious breakfast each day with free coffee, tea available in the lobby during whole day. Great terrace facing sea, good for evening relax. Staff is always willing to help, but sometimes English conversation is little tricky :)
Cons: Bathroom little run down, but spotless clean!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in the middle of the ‘city’. Lovely varied breakfast, free bike hire and super friendly staff. We stayed for 5 nights and used it as a base to explore the island and surrounding islands and given it’s close location to the port and bus terminal it’s perfect.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: WiFi sometimes weak. Personally for me the pillow to flat and the matras to hard.
7,0 Good
Pros: I like the groove and the super helpful staff of this property, they always try to find a way so that we could enjoy the island to fulliest. It was very nice sitting outside in the evening or whatchin the sunrise from the rooftop.
Cons: We had to take the private room with bath, since no other rooms were available. I think the price is too expensive for what you get and you hear the neighbours as if they were in your room
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice and very helpful staff (however they speak only decent English.) Good location, close to ferry and bus terminal Good breakfast + free tee and coffee throughout the day Restaurant next to the reception with reasonable prices and delicious foods for lunch and dinner Rooftop terrace for relaxing Free umbrella at the entrance in case of rainy weather The room included also a free mobile phone for calling home or even searching infos on the internet.

Pros: Staff very helpful. Big and spacios rooms. Good breakfast. Also, lunch and dinner are very good and not expensive compared to the restaurants on the island.
Cons: Unfortunately only one staff member speaks English so it is very hard to get anything done. The location is very bad as it is far away from the city or the beach and the only option is to pay 1500/2000 yen for taxi.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was really nice and attentive. The swimming pool, just renovated, was excellent and so close to the beach it almost feels you're at the sea. The village-like setting of the hotel provides a very nice and cozy atmosphere and our cottage-room was quite generously sized.
Cons: A few facilities are in a poor state, especially the breakfast area. It is dated, messy and chairs are really stained. This is a huge contrast with other brand new facilities. I think a very simple refurbishment (changing chairs and tables and concealing the "working areas" of the buffet as well as painting and adding some decoration) would give a different impression.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: My daughters loved the access to the pool, splash pad and beach. The staff was very attentive. The room was spacious compared to other Japanese hotel rooms. As an American who is accustomed to pillowtop mattresses, we weren't comfortable with the mattresses provided but it doesn't take away from our experience at all. We utilized the travel personnel on site and they were so convenient to set things up and cancel on our behalf. We had a fantastic time and would happily return to Fusaki.
Cons: 1. Mattress quality, but that's always the case with Japanese style bedding. 2. Price of food on site was expensive but that's to be expected at resorts.
4,5 Okay
Pros: The kids waterpark
Cons: Room wasn't very clean - bottles left out in front garden, facility far too busy. Most restaurants full. Breakfast served in what looked like a gym hall.
8,3 Excellent
Cons: Carpark too far away The room is too small given the price is not cheap
10,0 Excellent
Pros: clean and high value rooms. pool was open until 8pm. the childreen could enjoy swiming by night. breakfast as buffet was a good quality with mix of japanees and western content.
Cons: nothing to claim
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice Pool area.
Cons: Outdoor pool closes at 1. November!
9,5 Excellent
Cons: Not a dislike but rather a suggestion. Closing the pools/water park/beach due cold season might be a little excessive considering the climate in Ishigaki... For European or North American guests Ishigaki winter temperatures easily surpass summer back home.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Just along the Beach We could se amazing coluored fish. And just taking a very short boat Tour even more. Ok rooms
Cons: Swimming pools Nice but made to kids friendly all of Them. Would be Nice with one pool for swimming. Staff are not english talking in reception.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The beach
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Superb location on the western shore of the island, perfect for sunsets, with an ideal shingle beach and beautiful turquoise waters. The pool area is beautifully laid out and is spacious, ideal for both couples and families.
Cons: The resort restaurants and bars are in places slightly pricey for what they are. Also, the staff are required to enforce some seemingly unnecessary rules - canoeing restricted to a very limited area of the beach for no obvious reason (and irrespective of ability) no t-shirts in the pool (not good for westerners looking to protect against the sun!). Relaxing these rules would make the experience more enjoyable. Also, the staff generally speak limited English - which makes it hard for a non-Japanese speaker to understand these rules (or indeed the offerings of the resort generally) - even more written English information would help.

7,5 Good
Pros: near the beach
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was wonderful - starting from the check-in. Was greeted at the front entrance and someone took my luggage. I was asked to sit down until it was my turn to be checked in. Upon check-in, the reception explained all the hotel amenities, restaurants and shuttle service. After check-in, she took me and my luggage to my room. The size of the room (i was in a superior twin ocean view room) was big even by North American standards. One of the reviews i had read said this room was very small, even by Tokyo standards. In this room, there was enough space to keep my luggage open and available to me at all times. There was also a nice seating area by the balcony to enjoy the view, which was nice. Buffet breakfast was very popular and busy. I went at 6am one morning, and it was already quite full. Western and Japanese breakfast available. Good variety and the dishes change daily. There's nothing around the hotel, so if you want to venture off the hotel property, you'll need to take the shuttle into town, which runs every hour or so. I attempted to go for a walk around peak sun (1pm) on the boardwalk, and there was no one around (b/c it was just so hot!!).

Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helped us with a lot of things!
Cons: None.
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Very relaxing seaside resort, good facilities, the public bath is relaxing. Breakfast is good too!
Cons: The swimming pool is a bit small
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and the location
Cons: Nothing really!
6,8 Good
Pros: Right on the beach, pool and spa facilities. Meat restaurant is excellent; great food and ambience.
Cons: Service was nothing special; entirely oriented around Japanese guests. No wifi in public areas. Breakfast finished very early, about 9.00am, which is early for a resort and when you are on holiday. Main restaurant is nothing special. Very expensive and so poor value for money.
7,0 Good
Pros: Sea view was fantastic and the staff were very helpful
Cons: Breakfast was poor, rooms were very dated and we had to move rooms due to noise from communal areas
7,0 Good
Pros: seaview and very furit breakfast
Cons: it is a bit far away downtown and no convenience store nearby the hotel.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is really amazing! As a non-japanese, there were lots of selection and i was able to try local food. They change their breakfast menu every now and then which is good. They have 4 restaurants to choose from. The room is very nice especially the bathroom. There is japanese concert every night, so its a real Japanese experience. There is also complimentary shuttle from and back to airport.
Cons: The bed and pillows are so hard.

Pros: The new building is really nice (but too expensive for what it is) Nice swimming pool
Cons: The breakfast is awful. restaurant is not good. Prices are too high.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Pool. Breakfast. Staff. Cleanliness. Location. View. Small, charming boutique style hotel, as compared to massive, huge, boring and expensive, 5-star hotels.
Cons: Restaurant food way over priced.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
5,5 Okay
Pros: The prices here were very high for the room and hotel amenities that were available - that said, the pool and outdoor space was lovely, especially for sunset views.
Cons: This property was very expensive for the basic nature of the room and amenities.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff, good Onsen, good view from our room, beautiful pool
Cons: Asked for 90 US$ to keep room for 2 hours longer, worst coffee in Japan, no bar, terrace run down (splinters everywhere), noisy AC and smell from restaurant in our room.
6,8 Good
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Their response to our booking error was very tardy as a result we had to pay 3 times more money at the last minute. They were very stingy and inflexible with a little late checkout, water in the room. When we came to our room the evening GE gore our departure the cleaning of the room was cursory giving us an indication that we are on our way out.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are spacious. Breakfast is good, very tasty and good variety.
Cons: There are not too many restaurants nearby, so if the hotel restaurants can offer hot food/snack menu in the hours between lunch & dinner would be great. Swimming pool is a bit shallow and hope can improve on it.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is well located on the coast, about a 1000yen taxi ride from the ferry terminal. But there is a concrete wall separating the hotel from the sea, so , although there is access via steps, the beach is virtually non-existent. Staff are very gracious and helpful.
Cons: Room was small, but comfortable. The pool is very shallow. Sea adjoining is quite dirty, perhaps due to a nearby sewerage plant
7,0 Good
Pros: Around 30-min from airport and 5-min to city centre, which was very good location. Hotel is clean and big onsen-style bath was nice to relax after enjoying Ishigaki nature.....
Cons: Staffs were friendly but seemingly not received enough training as their instruction was not accurate. We had to pay extra for optional tour, which was disappointing as hotel facities were nice.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great and the staff were extremely accommodating. They went above and beyond what one would expect.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very pretty beachfront. Water sports club right on the beach. Swimming pool. Proximity to the manta diving sites. Food is quite good as well
Cons: Swimming pool closes at 6pm (too early).
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The service was outstanding, beach and facilities (spa, bbq restaurant, pool) were first class. Rooms are huge. We would gladly stay again.
Cons: At first it was a bit striking how dated the decor felt, but truthfully we got used to it quite quickly. We were also given a smoking room (may be worth specifying), but the staff went out of their way to find us something that was less "fragrant".
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Room is spacious and nice sea view balcony
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location approximately 20min drive from the main town Hotel located on a lovely beach with unspoiled views that is great for swimming and water sports Good & lunch breakfast selection, we haven't tried the dinner Hotel has a charm of old resorts from 1970s or so - don't expect the latest design but hotel the rooms in the main wing are refurbished and very comfy and overall hotel has nice facilities Very relaxing environment Staff speak limited English but they are very helpful We had an issue with the first room and they used ipad and a interpreter to help translate from English to Japanese and then promptly solved the issue Book superior or deluxe rooms, the standard one are smoking ones.
Cons: Originally we booked a standard room in the old wind. In the description it was not written that it's smoking rooms. Since we're not smokers we were very bothered with the strong smell of cigarette. But staff help us to change the room. The location is a bit remote with not many restaurants around. But we had a car so it was not a problem for us
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facility with beautiful beach and fantatic chalet. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet vacation by the beach
Cons: It’s fairly far away from the town. Best to have a car to drive around
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Private beach
Cons: No more choice for dinner
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We had a very good experience. Location is perfect - close to Kabira bay. Great breakfast with a lot o choose. Furthermore the staff is extremely helpful! we first stayed at a villa, but my girlfriend couldn’t sleep anymore after we found a spider in our room (which the staff removed; and obviously some bugs are inevitable at such a location), so we could move to a deluxe room. And actually we liked this room even better due to the sea view.
Cons: Villa’s are slightly outdated (deluxe rooms are not) and facilities at the beach could be better by e.g. opening a bar or offering cushions for the beach beds. You will need a car to get around the island.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view from our bedroom. We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast and supper. It was very useful to go to a snorkeling and manta ray expedition directly from a boat at the hotel.
Cons: It is better to wear water shoes at the beach to go in the sea. For nicer sand, you walk a short distance on the beach and you go to Sukuji beach just aside.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: breakfast, intensive staff, comfort bedding, good view
Cons: far away from city
8,8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a little tired but it is an excellent location for a quiet beach holiday, and the views from our room were magnificent. Staff are gracious and very helpful. There are no local shops or restaurants, however.
Cons: No general change rooms for the pool. Inflexible 3 pm check- in. Limited meal choices in the restaurant.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Churayado Cocochan Ishigaki in Ishigaki, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Ishigaki Port and Torin-ji Temple. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: I booked the Churayado Cocochan because I participated the Ishigaki Marathon. From the hotel, it is able to access the city center and seaport by foot (~10 mins) where you can find varies kinds of restaurants and convenient stores. The hotel provides basic needs for the guests. I like it it's quite environmentally friendly and doesn't provide towels and charge for electricity use for A/C and washing machine. (I think the other guests in the reviews didn't understand their purpose to do so..) The hosts are also very nice enough and didn't charge me more even if I checked out late since I had to do the check-out after the marathon.
Cons: Maybe it's better to write explicitly in the introduction on booking.com that 1. bring own towels, 2. have an extra charge for the A/C and washing machine.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The bath tub is to comfy that made me felt asleep a little bit there.
Cons: Bedding could be better.
6,0 Good
Pros: apartment was available as a last minute decision, it has a lot of space - kitchen and three small rooms, quiet neighborhood, free parking, 10-minute walk to restaurants in the town center
Cons: All rooms are small, with college-type beds, with unpleasant bed sheets, you need to pay extra for air-conditioning, and for the towels, it's perfect for a family with children or for a group of 6 (young) people traveling on a budget but it was a bit too sparse for us
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very friendly and helpful. Their standard poodle is wonderful.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: the owner is helpful
6,3 Good
Pros: It's well situated near the Art Hotel, so it's easy to find and also to arrive by bus. Most buses stop at Art Hotel. The hotel is pretty basic, but it works.
Cons: You have to pay for the AC by a coin machine....never saw that before, and it's not nice at all.
7,5 Good
Pros: Very clean and space spacious rooms. The hosts are good and polite.
Cons: There is no conditioning in the living room, very hot if you want to have gathering here. I agreed with the reason for the paid air conditioning system in the rooms but there should be an air conditioner in the living room too for customers to choose whether they want to have air conditioning at customers own cost or not. We felt very hot and never stay in the living room. The bed sheets were very rough and not comfortable to sleep. You have to bring your towels and toothbrushes.
7,5 Good
Pros: The bed is comfortable
Cons: The air conditioner can only be used when 100yens is inserted for three hours. Its quiet inconvenient when using it.

7,5 Good
Pros: Very nice location at the beach and close to a main road which is not too busy - therefore still quiet at night. Rooms are relatively large. The personnel is very friendly and helpful. English communication is possible.
Cons: All rooms are in ground floor with patio very close to the tropical surrounding - even with closed insect net, spiders are potential visitors in the rooms.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: I like the breakfast which is very delicious.
Cons: The room has no see view.
7,5 Good
Pros: The “villa”/room was quiet big with both 2x chair and 1 table + an outside ranch. Very nicely and helpful staff who prepares japenese style breakfast in the morning :)) and are willing to help and guide you. Have a Beach 2min walk, but not a useful Beach as the other ones on the Island.
Cons: This is more like a “motel” instead a hotel + it’s placed on the northeast coast of Ishigaki without any restaurants and cafees nearby. Please rent a car. There is a lot bugs, which is fine, but also lizzard crawling on the walls in the room, so if you dont like lizzard; STAY AWAY!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast and such friendly staff. Helped us so much with traveling around the area, as we didnt hire a car and we didnt realise how isolated this property was.
2,5 Mediocre
Cons: Last year I do have a good memories in this villa, but this summer when I back here again, the room is full of strongly pee and poo smell, and the owner did not check and change my room and make us felt sick........ Also ,the breakfast tasted is not good in this year...
8,0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff in Nata were really nice, Kendor San and Uncle were awesome and helpful, I felt hospitality during my stay.
4,5 Okay
Pros: Friendly, polite and helpful staff, they'll do their very best to may your stay pleasant. The receptionist helped me modify my booking and I'm still thankful for that. Excellent shower, one the best we used. The breakfast: tasty and perfectly cooked! Parking spot right in front of the room.
Cons: This is actually a motel, not a place for a vacation. Ideally located at a junction right next to the main road this is rather a convenient stay for busy people or people not willing to go for the big leisure place or the beach guest house, not really for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The beds and sheets were clean but all surfaces were covered with dust. Toilet and shower were clean. Tiny ants around the window but those did not come any closer inside the room while a small lizard on the other hand woke us in the middle of the night, enjoying a stroll through the room (tropical climate... we saw a lizard at a very nice place too). View upon a yard looking rather abandoned.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The fact that it was well out of the port and city area and quite remote appealed to us . Very quiet area and friendly staff/ owners. A great place to unwind and reset after busy Tokyo! You will need a car to to bring some additional snacks and food as there is not much around the accomodation. We loved Gary the cat.
Cons: If you don’t like creepy crawlies don’t stay here. There are quite a few around particularly at night - so don’t leave your washing/ beach towels out at night otherwise they may end up in your room like what happened to us . Staff were helpful trying to catch / remove said creatures so all good!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and friendly people! Food was delicious. Great place to enjoy nature and relax.

6,3 Good
Cons: Wifi not work
7,5 Good
Pros: They changed the towels and toothbrush everyday.
Cons: I have requested 2 extra pillows to be prepare in advance but was not entertain, I need to email and ask again. It would be highly appreciate if they can check the special request ahead of time so they can exceed the guests expectation. I also mentioned that we are celebrating my husband birthday but I guess they don't care at all.
6,8 Good
Pros: 24 hour reception, big room with balcony, clean and washing machine only for us - even though you have to ask for the hanging racks for drying clothes Bus stop direcly in front of building is a big plus! (direct line to airport) Taking care of luggage after checkout is always nice :)
Cons: No dishes, no spoons, no plates, no nothing without payment. Empty kitchen unless you pay for it. No free coffee unless you pay 500yen (compared to other coffees that kinda expensive) WIFI was not working. Got a personal router only after complaining twice. (with google translate) Staff not able to speak basic English (with 1 exception) 3 electronic devices (Water heater, microwave & fridge) sharing 2 available plugs... so you gotta switch between Cleaning upon request (info page said daily but you have to ask for) No toilets on floors or reception area You can get a lot - but you have to ask for (they have lot of stuff in their staff-room)
8,8 Excellent
Cons: way to parking so narrow... have to be extra carefulness
6,3 Good
Pros: Spacious room. Location though not in the city centre, can easily be connected by bus. Malls, shops in the vicinity. Free car parks.
Cons: As I said, the room is spacious but the toilet is disproportionately small ! It was soooo crammed being inside. Further the shape of the toilet seat doesn't fit the wc pan - And it's pretty awful ! The purported free kitchen is, well, you have to hire the cooking wares at a charge of Yen 500 per day and Yen 100 in the ensuing days. Most disheartened is the erratic wifi connectivity in the room. It's perfect around the reception area but it is 90% of time is disconnected in room. Had talked to the reception of the problem but they just shrugged it all off ! The ceiling light is soooo dim. The lumen produced is in par with an AA battery light. Had asked for help from the reception but again received no help at all. No bedside cupboard provided means you have to put stuffs on the floor next to the beds ! All internal wall is of fair-faced concrete - looks crude and dull !
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and good location. The girl who helped us checking in is lovely and sincere.
Cons: WiFi! Quite awful I have to say especially during night.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious with lots of amenities. The hotel is right in front of a bus stop and a supermarket. There are several restaurants and car rental places within 100m.
Cons: The bathroom was leaky. I knew you had to rent the kitchen supplies, but didn't realise that would include the plates and cutlery.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff went above and beyond, especially with the language barrier. Free bicycles to ride for the day Bus stop right in front of the place Self contained, kettle, stove even! Supermarket so close by.
Cons: Nothing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: In the main road between airport and Ishigaki port. Opposite to shopping mall with Aeon and other supermarkets in walking distance. There is a bus stop outside of hotel. Free parking. Spacious room for 3.
Cons: Small bathroom.

5,8 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff service.
Cons: Ants found on the bed and on the table, a very weak ventilation in the bath room.
5,5 Okay
Pros: Staff were very nice. Facilities were good.
Cons: The room was very dusty and certainly not worth the price.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is good and with many food for choice, and other facility are also nice !!
Cons: main carpark always full, 2nd carpark need walk 8-10 mins for back to hotel
9,3 Excellent
Pros: You can relax in Swimming pool in the hot afternoon. Breakfast is also very good. The size of room is big in Japan standard. The location is also good while it is not far from ferry terminal.
Cons: The price is quiet high while this is the summer time
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We are happy with your buffet. Location is good, if you have a rent car.
Cons: If there is change machine in the laundry room, I would be happy. I wasn’t able to use spin-dryer for bathing suit, because it was broken.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice modern room, seems recently renovated. Large size compared to typical hotels in Japan. Free shuttle bus to and from the airport. Great scheme on giving guests a voucher to spend in the property if they choose to not to have cleaning service (also good for the environment).
Cons: The location is not ideal unless you drive. The walk to the port is 15-20 minutes and gets quite dark in the night. Retail / restaurant options near the hotel is limited.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated, clean and good location. Facilities are enough. Food is good too.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The quadruple room was great for a family with 2 young children and was relatively spacious. The pool was good. There is a fantastic dumpling restaurant along the road from the hotel. Can walk to 'downtown' Ishigaki in about 15 minutes. Would recommend hiring a car whilst on the island.
7,0 Good
Pros: The hotel location.
Cons: No clear smoking area, should be more comfortable, as me I smoke cigars some time. You need a place to seat confortable, and be able to order a drink. Advised by the receptionist : breakfast is from 6:00-10:00. We arrived at the breakfast at 9:32....it was a problem. They did not allow us to enter the restaurant (with 2 kids). If you say brkfst until 10:00....all around the world, you are allow to enter the restaurant the latest at 9:59..... Here, at 9:30, the staff already remove all the food from the buffet. Inacceptable! Or you advise the guest that brkfst is from 6:00-9:30, then.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel close to the port if you plan to visit another islands by ferry. Nice clean pool with towel service and pool bar. Hotel also operates airport shuttle bus, which is great regarding the fact the airport is quite far. No beach as the hotel is in the town, but has garden and two ponds with koi carps (very hungry!). If you travel with little kids, be sure to visit an amazing playground by the athletic stadium approx. 15 mins far (by foot) - it is really georgeous and without people!
Cons: Hotel offers double rooms with sofa and requests no extra money for baby crib. Then we were told the sofa is for extra money. But finally we made an agreement and hotel agreed not to charge us. Rooms are quite small. Breakfast room is quite overcrowded early in the morning, very poor ice coffee (on the other hand their kimchi was delicious). I need to say I have no idea why the hotel 's name is ART as there was no art at all :-) - except that ART SHOP without art goods.

Cons: The Japanese style room are located in the 2/F while the restaurant are located at 3/F. There will be loud noise of moving tables / chairs on everyday starting from the breakfast time which wake you up in the morning. Therefore, unless you want to wakeup very early in the morning, I don't recommend you to book the Japanese style room.

Pros: Location is ok. Staff is very friendly. Refund for the nights we didn't stay.
Cons: No bicycles available. Hotel is very old-fashioned. Room was dusty and not clean. Window handle was broken so could not be opened. The bed was very bad, you could feel the spirals everywhere when laying in the bed. We booked for 5 nights but left after 1 night (because of no sleep in the bad bed).
