I made a reservation and got dropped off at the hertz location. The guy in the office said they didn’t have any cars. I showed him my reservation and he said it didn’t matter and they didn’t have any cars available and everyone in the office was sick. I’m not sure how that affects the number of cars but it certainly made me feel uncomfortable. I asked what Hertz policy is to help someone dropped off with a reservation and no cars available and he said “nothing, read the fine print.” I went to Avis down the road and had a wonderful experience and even for a free upgrade for less than the hertz quoted rate.Reviewed Oct 7 2022

Pros:The drop-off was a pure nightmare - we arrived in the evening but the office was closed and there was no possibility to drop the key. We tried again at 7am in the morning but the office opened at 8am and we had to wait for outside in the cold. Nobody informed us about this hassle.Cons:When I picked up the car, I informed staff that we might be late this day and the person at the desk said that we can keep the return date FOR NOW. When I returned it indeed later, I did not only pay for 1 more day but also had to pay US$ 12 for delayed return and nobody alerted me about this.Reviewed Feb 24 2019

Taking advantage-much too pricey!Pros:Car was new and clean and had decent gas mileage.Cons:The car was way too expensive. They jacked up the prices because I dropped it off in a different state-however the car was originally from New York! They just jacked up the prices because they could! Terrible experience.Pros:nothing!!! Nothing!! Absolutely terrible.Cons:Reserved a minivan, but got a suv instead with little space for luggage. I had to leave some stuff behind for my trip because there’s was no space. The third row seats are useless, they are only good for toddlers. It was a nightmare!! Tricked into making a reservationCons:There is no age limit listed or age fee loses when purchasing the rental through your app, nor does Hertz make any more of r in follow up emails. So as a 23 year old I easily made a reservation only to be informed 2 days before my pick up that actually the cost would be five times the quoted price and if I wanted to cancel I’d be charged a $50 fee. Seems like hertz and Kayak don’t mins tricking young travelers into renting cars of that means they get to keep the $50 cancellation fee. Lucky I didn’t actually waste my time going to my pickup because I would’ve been very upset and would’ve wasted even more money.Reviewed Oct 5 2017

Pros:Convenience to the train stationCons:This was the second car rental experience for us on this trip. Staff in Stamford appeared to be undergoing training, which was not explained to us, and every question had to be repeated. The car we booked was very small so we upgraded to a larger model at a cost that was more than I had anticipated. I am still awaiting email with final bill, so cannot comment on overall cost yet.Reviewed Sep 15 2017
