Pros: We arrived a little ahead of the stated check in time and were warmly welcomed and told our room was ready. We had booked the attic room with separate private bathroom on the same floor. The room was beautifully furnished and biscuits, tea, coffee, WiFi and sweets were provided. In the bathroom there was everything you could need. Bath salts and bubble bath for the stunning free standing roll top bath, soft towels and other toiletries. There was also a walk in shower. The views from both rooms looked out over the town and surrounding countryside. We enjoyed quiet and comfortable nights sleep. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and provided maps of the town and also spent time explaining other trips we could do either on foot or by car. A cooked Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning and cereal, yoghurt toast and preserves as well as juices were available. The cooked breakfast was delicious. We were disappointed to leave after a 2 night stay. We will definitely return but will spend longer next visit. There is so much to see and do locally and the town has a good choice of shops, bars and restaurants.
Cons: Everything was perfect
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a very comfortable stay. The food was excellent and the hospitality was quite exceptional. The location is in a quiet street close to the town centre with convenient car parking on the premises The room was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with all amenities.
Cons: The radiator in my room at the top of the house didn't get as warm as I would have liked.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in a cute town right within the national park. The hosts were so much fun to talk to over freshly made breakfast! You just fill out the sheet at night and they make it fresh for you every morning. Hot shower, parking space, great in-room tea selection, in-room radiator heat you can set, and great local suggestions from the hosts made this place wonderful. It was a great stay with locals but you have your own whole space, so it was a perfect balance!
Cons: Nothing - great stay
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality, very good breakfast, the bed is comfortable and the location is right near a really nice pub, which is one of the few places to eat open in the evening. Our bathroom was spectacular - a stylish large room with both a bathtub and a standing shower, with various bath products included (bubble bath etc..)... The hosts also helped us with a forgotten jacket - thank you very much again!
Cons: Just two minor things associated with the specific room we chose - a) a quite low ceiling in parts of the room (top floor) and b) the bathroom is in a separate room (a bit uncomfortable if you need to use it during the night)

Cons: Nothing
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This old but well-kept hotel had a lot of rustic charm for me. I read somewhere that it has historic value since it is one of the oldest hotels in Granton. The staff was soooo friendly, I will never forget them. I enjoyed eating in on all but one night and had a nice breakfast each day. I felt right at home which is not usual for a hotel. But it had kind of a family home feel to it. Also, my room was comfortable and well equipped for my needs. Wifi reception was good.
7,0 Good
Pros: Warm and comfy. We asked for another spare duvet as the 2 twin beds locked together are bigger than for a double and this was sourced quickly. Staff are friendly and we got introduced to some new local vodkas!
Cons: Bigger bar or lounge area to get away from other residents. Decent hairdryer would have been good. The room seemed damp when we arrived but this seemed to improve over our stay.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was served quickly and what I asked for was not a problem.

Craiglynne Hotel - Grantown-on-Spey - Building

6,5 Good (832 reviews)
R1 269+
Overview Reviews
The Craiglynne Hotel is set right in the heart of the Highlands in Grantown-on-Spey, only 14 miles from the busy Scottish resort of Aviemore with views over the Cromdale Hills. This great value hotel is full of traditional Scottish charm. The hotel dates back to Victorian times and still maintains the attractive stone faade with towers, and bay windows looking on to the pretty gardens with picnic tables. The interior is comfortable and homely; the public rooms and restaurant feature chandeliers, natural dcor and large lounge areas with roaring log fires. The guestrooms are spacious and comfortable with a tartan twist, some rooms have views of the Cairngorms, all have flat screen TVs, en-suite bathrooms and welcome tea tray.
3,0 Mediocre
Cons: The beds were really uncomfortable and there was no pressure in the shower
7,1 Good
Pros: Staff were lovely, however, seemed overstretched.
Cons: On arrival, we were given a key to a room that had already been occupied, this isn't an issue for us, mistakes can be made however security is a major risk in this case. We had requested a double bed with a bath which they were unable to accommodate, our own fault for being fussy when they were so busy. Dinner service was quick and staff were again lovely (same staff as checking us in and at the bar) the meal itself although nothing particularly wrong with it certainly lacked attention, for example, When we arrived at the hotel we viewed an al' a cart menu that looked lovely, to then be told at our table this isn't available and a simple bar or dinner menu was being offered this wasn't as impressive. I ordered the Lemon tart for dessert, the plate arrived in no time was freezer cold the whole dish had been prepared in advance and placed in the fridge which meant that the pastry was very soft and not enjoyable. On check out, I asked for the bill to be told they don't print them, an odd arrangement however I was too tired to argue. So paid the bill blind, the amount sounded accurate however I have come away with no idea what we have actually paid for. Even an offer to email may have been better? On the whole, it is a pleasant country hotel, however, I do feel there are some key issues within the day to day runnings of this hotel and being in the industry these are very clear.

9,0 Excellent
