Pros: The hospitality from the owners was beyond our expectations. Teppei and his family made us feel very welcomed the minute we arrived. They were extremely friendly and more than happy to help us. The accommodation is a gorgeous, cosy cottage with a beautiful, unobstructed view of Mt Fuji. The breakfast is delicious, freshly made with something different daily.
Cons: The bed is a bit hard and bathroom is tight but that is expected in Japan.

Pros: It was very nice stay, just across street from Fuji San and lake only two minutes walk. Nice view from the hotel, Literally, you can see Fuji San from the living room. The bed was very comfy. Also, I had the onsen all by myself which is good, kinda private. I wish I could stay longer. Family mart also close by.

Pros: Personal Onsen. Rooftop view. Helpful room staff. Delicious dinner
Cons: We needed help getting a taxi to pick us up from a shrine 20 minutes away. The same concierge team that had helped us get a taxi there in the first place, denied us help and we struggled to find transportation back for an hour, almost missing our paid-for breakfast. They said they didn’t know what we looked like and wouldn’t be able to send a taxi to us. We were disappointed in this service as it left a bad taste on the day we were checking out. Other than that, the rest of the staff was helpful, respectful and great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The private onsen experience was the best. This is our first time trying out this resort but we will definitely come back again the next time. Maybe we might bring along our little one to experience too!
Cons: Nothing much really!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food is impressive ! Dinner & breakfast are so nice ! Staff are attentive !
9,4 Excellent
Pros: A very beautiful resort onsen. We had an onsen suite which meant we had our own private onsen. It was wonderful to use as the nights were chilly. Loved it! The staff was excellent and spoke great English, which was quite helpful since our Japanese is very basic! We would stay here again!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The bathroom was direct to the Onsen which was very convenient. The bedroom is big enough for 2 persons. Breakfast was phenomenon.
Cons: The smell of gas while the heat was turning on both indoor and outdoor.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Visiting Japan, we were looking for opportunities to experience its onsen culture, kaisei cuisine, traditional culture and visit to the nature. This was a dreams-come-true stay at Fuji Onsenji Yumedono and visit to the Kawaguchiko for Mt. Fuji. The dinner and breakfast were just exquisite and spiritually and physically fulfilling. The hotel is within walking distance to the Kawaguchiko bridge where photography lovers would find the perfect spot for Mt Fuji (and gyuku (opposite) Fuji). It was easy to access other sightseeing spots by foot or by bus as well. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and extremely polite and professional-- taught us how to wear the ukata, found extra cape for our 6-year-old daughter and helped with pick-up, luggage, etc. The on-suite private onsen was just a bless & bliss! No embarrassment at communal bath and no time limits. We used it before and after dinner and breakfast and felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. We will definitely come back again in the future.
Cons: Nothing.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view when I take a bath. Food is nice and I was surprised especially breakfast ,there were many things to eat! Staffs were very kind to our child.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: They have a beautiful private onsen for each room. The staffs were so so polite. The dinner and breakfast was amazing. The entire experience is perfect. You can experienced Japanese culture here.
Cons: The only things to be improved maybe just the guidance from the staff, eg. I don’t know how to wear their Yukata (a kind of Japanese onsen suit) and there’s no hint in the room; while having dinner / breakfast, I’m not quite sure how to start. And also, if we can see Mount Fuji while in the onsen, that probably will add marks to the entire experience. But they still worth 5 stars for sure.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful onsen, the staff were lovely and the location was great!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: hot springs and meals. both breakfast and dinner were better than in Palace Hotel Tokyo!
Cons: well, it is traditional Japanese inn, so you sleep on the floor ;)

10,0 Excellent
Pros: 1. Location: nothing beats waking up to the view of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi just outside the hotel! 2. Facilities: 2 free onsens are really good, with the view of Mt Fuji! Feels recharged! 3. Kaiseki dinner + breakfast: i’ve never had such traditional and elaborated meals before. I couldn’t have appreciated it more! 4. Service: Staffs are ALL so friendly, approachable, helpful and easy going. Free shuttle bus from Kawaguchi station, and they even sent us back to the station even after the shuttle bus operating hours. 5. Transport: Red line brings you to the hotel, at both Stops 11 & 12.
Cons: There is nothing to dislike about this place. It was way above our expectations!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff who will go the extra mile to make you feel welcomed. Shuttle service was great, driver was attentive and happy to help. Rooms are clean.
Cons: Would prefer a card key instead of a physical key that was quite bulky. If your room is not in the same tower as that of the reception, it can be a bit of a hassle to access the common corridor that links both towers (for breakfast and visiting the reception desk).

Pros: We love the place! Located just in front of the lake and have an awesome view of Mt Fuji from our window! The onsen is great! Just make sure to inform the staff for your time of use. This is way cheaper than other hotels with onsen on that area. The owner is very kind and considerate and know how to speak a bit of english and very accommodating. Will definitely go back for visit :D

Cons: Doors closing at 9pm, could not have dinner due to last minute booking.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location, it was very quiet but only a short walk to Oishi Park, and also maple corridor. Owners are soo friendly and helpful. Food was excellent value for money, as was beer. View of Mt Fuji from bedroom was an added bonus, as was the private slots for each room for the onsen. It is quite a large one and with views of Mt Fuji. Bathroom was very clean, albeit a little dated. There were bikes for hire but we didn’t use the. Owner provides a shuttle bus to and from the station which was very handy.
Cons: Beds were a little hard. Rooms a little dated.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect view of Fujisan out our window. Delicious food. Clean and comfortable rooms. Onsite onsen with private time available. Shuttle from station and Oishi Park available. Bike hire available.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were awesome and I really felt like it was a family own hotel. I left my back pack in the room when we checked out and we received a call before we were to far. The view was awesome and for sure we will return in the summer. The kids had a great time.
Cons: TV channels didn't have any English shows. Would of been nice to have some type of basic channels at least.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Service is good, food is good. Room is comfortable, loved the private onsen.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful, the fish dinner superb (from a very limited menu) and the view from our bedroom window early morning. The onsen was great too as guests were allocated private time.
Cons: Noisy as the walls were thin enough to hear people talking in the corridor and adjacent rooms. Not too bad as most guests were considerate and also slept early to get up for sunrise.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Host was super friendly. Check in was super easy. Host was willing to drop you off or pick you up at the bus stop or at the train station (they had certain times for drop offs and pick up). The onsen was amazing, if you stay here this is a MUST do. You get 45 mins in there all by yourself or with your partner or room mates. Breakfast and dinner were traditional meals and delicious (fish for breakfast).
Cons: Location was a bit out of the way.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Private onsen (Evening), Food taste very good.
Cons: Location a little far (about 15-20 min by walk from bus station no.20)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so accommodating and helpful! They went out of their way to drive us to the pagoda when the car to the station was too full. The food was excellent, and the view of Mount Fuji was the absolute best part! We had the perfect view from our room and saw a beautiful sunrise. We rented the onsen both nights we were there and it was clean and relaxing. The whole experience was a dream! Highly recommend!
Cons: It is a little out of the way from the main part of town. The owners generously drive you back from town around 5 or 6 pm, but if you don’t have a car and want to stay out later a taxi is quite expensive.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The view was amazing. Meals were yummy and beautifully presented. Private onsen was easy to reserve and was wonderful. It was a little dated but everything was clean and in working condition. Room was warm and very comfortable during our stay in winter.
Cons: The location is slightly out of the main town areas so there are limited convenience stores and restaurants around the area. Busses doesn’t run very often either, so it’s best to explore around the nearby area during your stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is the bright side but also the down side. Definitely a great option if you drive there yourself, you will enjoy a spendid view of Mt.Fuji without doubt! If you take a bus , you will have to plan ahead as the blue line bus has a lot less service than the green and red line buses. The Breakfast and the dinner are the best, we also enjoyed very much of the private Ossen!! Love it!

Cons: Expensive. No near by places to eat other than the hotel restaurant.

Pros: Onsen, walking trail to Kawaguchiko
Cons: A bit far from city centre so if you miss the last hotel shuttle at the train station you’ll have to hail a taxi back.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff are all so incredibly nice and welcoming. I traveled alone and I felt taken care of. The view of the lake from the garden view is absolutely breathtaking - highly recommend the 4th floor garden room! The hot springs were nice and the view of Fuji from the hotel in insanely beautiful. Just walking to the 7 Eleven is amazing and I hired a bike to try to go closer to Fuji. The breakfast was healthy and lots of options. The rooms are so clean and there was lots of space!

Pros: The staffs are super nice, the dinner is superb (warning: I really love Japanese food), the room is clean also the tub in the room. Everything is so nice. I will book this ryokan again if I go to the town.
Cons: The public onsen with lake view is nice but the bath tub is too small, guess only 2-3 people at the time. However, the pool inside the room is large enough
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good view, friendly staff
Cons: Too warm, difficult to adjust the temperature
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Had a wonderful experience staying almost similar to how the Japanese live. The room, unlike Tokyo hotels, is really spacious. There's even a small coffee table inside, with Japanese green tea provided to keep guests warm. The view from the room is very nice, overlooking the lake. Location is really good as it's near the cable car, with a lot of amenities around. To the left of the hotel there's a nice small cafe serving really great coffees. Most memorable from the hotel is the Japanese breakfast experience. Each guest is provided with an individual set meal consisting of a mix of cold and warm Japanese food. The menu was different everyday, which is a very nice touch. Overall a very nice, memorable experience.
Cons: The hotel looks older in real life, almost like from the 80's as compared to pictures. However, the room including the bath room is really clean, almost looks like new (as in old but new) so it's not really a big issue. The only place where we found dirts was below the raised platform, which understandably is probably cleaned up less regularly than the other parts of the room.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It overlooks the lake and it’s beautiful. Food is easy to find around the hotel and the red line bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
Cons: Limited restaurants within the hotel. It’s much easier if you eat outside.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: My stay over exceeded my expectations! We had such a lovely time here and the host was SO NICE. He greeted us as we arrived late at night and gave us a little tour of the building. He gave us good recommendations of places to eat and things to do, lent us bikes to ride around the lake and even went out of his way to give us a lift to the bus station after we checked out. When the heater in our room ran out of gas he personally came in to change it for us. I cannot be more thankful for the wonderful service and stay. The onsen was simple but clean and super relaxing. There weren’t many guests during our time there so the privacy was really nice. The hotel is close to Lake Yamanaka where there are lots of restaurants and things to do. The view is amazing too.
Cons: Everything was amazing.
6,3 Good
Pros: I loved the in room open air bath and how it was on continuously throughout our stay. The check in was very easy and the staff was super friendly and helpful.
Cons: The hotel is quite old. We had leaks on out first night which started at 9pm in one area of the room then spread throughout the entire room that evening. We had buckets In our room and was expected to wait until it stopped as there were no other rooms for us. The leak went on spread onto areas by 12pm and no end in sight and finally called front desk and got us another room to sleep in. (Way passed bed time for my 2 kids). The staff did compensate us with a voucher worth 4000 yen the next day to buy stuff from their gift shop. Another thing I didn’t like was the fact that the bed are made and taken away everyday at a certain time. For our family who like to nap after a long day out found we had to lie around on the floor until beds are made.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The private onsen (rotenburo) in the bathroom that opened up to the balcony was amazing. The loveliest thing about this Ryokan was the staff - so warm and accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed! The food is also excellent (provided you are an adventurous eater / like Japanese food). Also appreciated the free shuttle from Kawaguchiko station. Once you get to the station, go to the information counter and show them your booking and ask them to call Kasuitei Ooya - they'll come pick you up within 10 mins! Also they dropped us off daily at the station as well.
Cons: The rooms are a tad old for the price paid. The wallpaper was peeling in the main room where we slept and it was just a bit tired.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The public bath with the lake view was awesome :) also the meals were incredible! Great staffs as all other places in Japan! Definitely recommended!
Cons: The facilities are a little runout since it’s a traditional accommodation. The fans of the toilet in a room should be on at all times. Otherwise, it might smell.

Pros: A very comfortable, spacious, clean and lovingly cared for accommodation, with a view that brings tears of great joy, Fuji was everywhere! I know we were very lucky, but I can say that even if Fuji is feeling shy or has gone away on holiday when you visit this hotel, the lake and surrounding mountains are also very beautiful. The walks are terrific and the bike riding around or canoeing on the lake looked to be wonderful fun. Don't forget to visit the temple and shrine located in the delightful little village by Lake Shoji. The staff at the hotel are both friendly and attentive. If you choose to eat your meals at this hotel, you will not be disappointed! Both the dinners and breakfasts were delicious and gourmet. Some of the pictured dinner is yet to be cooked. This is because we had the fun and pleasure of cooking it ourselves at our table.
Cons: What's not to like?

Pros: The only great thing about the hotel was the Mt fuji view when you wake up. There's also public Onsen and massage chair which is free to use.
Cons: The room is dated and bathroom is small.

Pros: Very friendly staff with service mind. The hot spring in the garden is decorated nice and attractive with original Japanese feeling. The hot water gives really good smell after soaking. The hall way looks clean and luxury. The very smooth bed gave me nice sleep.
Cons: Not a good view point. But if you come for the hot spring, here is the best !!!

Pros: The ryokan experience was a delight. The open air onsen, highly recommended.
Cons: Our stay was overnight only and it was poor weather, we didn't get to see Mt Fuji in its splendour. The weather cleared up the day after we left... Nothing we could do, can't control the weather. Next time...

Pros: Great staff, very friendly, full of hospitality, always offer and take care with smiles. Don't miss balcony on roof top for Fujisan view.
Cons: Facilities and property in general, is quite aged but replace by great onsen with fuji view and good hospitality of staff.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely loved this place. Staff went above and beyond what we expected, which is nice to see. The room which we stayed in was amazing and a small slice of a traditional Japanese rooms with tatami flooring. Also having our own private open air bath was great as I have tattoos and find that at times it is hard for myself to use onsen’s. (The hotel is tattoo friendly for their public Onsen). Along with this the onsen baths change so that you can have a view of Mount Fuji with is amazing on a clear day, and they also have a viewing platform which you can use as well.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The whole hotel is exceptional. Both the public onsen and the private bathtub got a great view to either the Lake or the Mountain! The food is fantastic, the breakfast buffet overwhelming. The tatami room was rounding up the japanese experience. Fantastic place for relaxation.
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel has two phenomenal public baths, one of which faces mt Fuji. Breakfast and dinner were both great. The restaurant faces the lake and has a great view.
Cons: The hotel needs a renovation, as many parts are run down and clearly outdated. The staff could have been a bit more forthcoming when we called them asking for the pick up service from the main station. The location is a bit far from the town.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location being just next to the lake and a beautiful park on one side and a great panoramic view of the magnificent Mt Fuji on the other. It’s like having two wonderful deals for the price of one! Excellent meals with the perfect ambience! Top service from the dedicated staff! Truly a memorable place to stay!
Cons: None.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location can see Mt Fuji from the room. Love the traditional Japanese Onsen hotel atmosphere, warm greeting with a cup of tea when we walked in the hotel, and the details to make us feel so relaxing. The dinner and breakfast are amazing yummy, variety dishes including Japan local ingredients, good experience. The sight seeing bus green route has a stop outside the hotel, no need to use the shuttle bus or pay for the unbelievable expensive storage at the train station.
Cons: The hotel is a little bit old and tired. Renovation can bring it to another level.
7,0 Good
Pros: Be ready to pay for the view and not For the food in particular. The view and onsen are incredible, everything else is average.
Cons: Quite old, food could have been better.
9,0 Excellent

Pros: The view from my window was absolutely wonderful... the lake and Mt Fuji ! The buffet dinner was amazing too I was served crab every night as well ....that was very special. The staff in the dining room were VERY helpful hardworking and kind .... infact all the staff in this hotel were incredibly helpful.
Cons: I wanted to use the hotels free shuttle bus again back to the station but they said I'm no longer a guest after 11am So I had to book a Taxi & pay over Y1700 for a 3 minute journey. They were still very helpful in arranging my taxi though! Thank you
9,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the room without the lake view, and it was good. Definitely recommend getting the buffet breakfast and dinner. The room was small but comfy and clean.
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Nice potato salad for breakfast . That’s it.
Cons: Too small. Can’t even open a luggage and being able to walk properly. Toilet feels like an old cruise cabin toilet size. Water pressure was small yet strong and hurtful to skin. Carpets felt like didn’t shampoo for 10 years. Bed was hard like rock, impossible to to sleep sideways without your bones hurting. Staff didn’t understand English and didn’t make any effort to communicate. Totally regretted staying here. I paid 4x the price of nightly rate at another hotel the next night to feel better. Gosh. Sorry I hardly write bad reviews. I had to and this is the first time I do so despite being a frequent traveler.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location as we could see Fujisan from the window of our room. And its price was the lowest among the nearby hotel for the same view. The room was fully equipped, even pajamas were provided. Breakfast was various. The bus stop was just opposite to the hotel lobby.
