    The staff was very hospitable, and the view from the bath house was amazing.

    Possibly a more comfortable sleeping arrangement, but it was nice sleeping in an authentic Japanese style hotel.

    Lakeside charm; Fuji views

    We stayed here after a two-day trek up Mt Fuji. Cool historic hotel reminded us of the lodges at Yellowstone. We wandered around parts of the property admiring old photos and decor. Up a fairly narrow staircase we found an alcove with large windows and a single rocking chair facing a grand view of Mt Fuji. The onsen also boasted some tremendous views and was a wholly relaxing experience.
