That for such an historical hotel it had NO old musty smell! THAT alone was a plus for me.
Our room was complementary upgraded which was a nice surprise. The hotel was unable to give me the govt discount since I booked through bookings.com. Thank you Mallory!
The bathroom lights were not working properly always kind of flickering.
Beautiful and elegant, staff treated us with thoughtful courtesy from the message early in the day of checking in (welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to ask about parking before we arrived) to check out - whole experience was perfect.
Very friendly, professional and welcoming staff.
Any staff we had interaction with were exceptional. It is a beautiful historic building with great charm in the lobby area. It's a great location and a special piece of Edmonton history. I would stay there again. The bartender in the Bar area was great - personable, friendly, fast and efficient.
We upgraded our room to the Gold Floor for the cost of $80. It was suggested the upgraded room would be superior to the basic room we originally booked - and included breakast - and appetizers the evening we checked in. The upgraded room was fine - but nothing special. There was no place to sit in the room! No arm chairs - so the only place to read or do anything was sitting on the bed. It was awkward. I don't think our room had been used for awhile because there was dust on the TV console table you could write your name in. Other than that, the room appeared clean. The appetizers and breakfast, included with the upgrade, had obviously been sitting for awhile - they weren't hot (some were cold) so that was a bit disappointing. Having said that and even taking into consideration some of the disappointment we experienced - I WOULD stay there again but would be more specific in my requests - for example, does our room have a chair to sit in?!! I might be a bit more assertive next time - and ask if there were hot items that could replenish the appetizers and breakfast! It's a beautiful building and the staff were wonderful.
