Pros: The hospitality
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy place, great location, awesome brekkie and a fabulous host. Terry you are a star ⭐️
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I stayed here on my first night in Scotland and it was (as the Host Terry would say) fantastic! It's close to the city center and has a private, large parking lot. The House also has a nice room with tables and a bar which everyone can use. The hosts like to have a chat with their guests and give you tips for your holiday (to Terry: i did the electric brae!). The Single Bedroom was quite small but that was ok for 1 night. The bathroom looked very new. The breakfast consist of a little buffet with cereals and everything else is cooked fresh depending on your joice (the guests fill out a form the day before).
Cons: The only thing that I could mention would be the large aspalted parking lot. I don't think that so many carparks are needed and even if so it would be possible to design that a bit more attractive.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a fabulous location in easy reach of the beautiful Solway coast and terrific local restaurants. Terry and Lynn are both lovely and helped me find a great place to take my partner for a birthday dinner. Breakfast was amazing and huge, you will not go hungry, the haggis was a particular favourite. So nice to have a bar too so that after a long day you can just relax with a drink. Fantastic for bikers with special parking and the offer of a drying room. Lucky for us the weather was amazing! Terry also printed out a run route with suggested stops along the way, you cannot beat the knowledge of a local biker. The room was very comfortable and so clean with so many little touches that if you had forgotten anything they were thought of. Our weekend was perfect.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable rooms very well equipped. Very clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Our hosts Terry & Lynn were very helpful at suggesting and booking a place for dinner. Terry makes a fine host behind their small bar and an excellent waiter at breakfast. Breakfast included cereal, juice and full Scottish!

Cons: Breakfast.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous setting Rooms and décor good
Cons: Conference hotel, therefore busy and lively. Food was only adequate the restaurant was too small.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting inside and out. Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Food in the restaurant for dinner especially was amazing, would highly recommend. Rooms were clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.
Cons: Only negative thing I can add and it’s really only applicable to me and my partner is that the hotel contacted me after booking to confirm they would reserve a double rather than a twin room (this was the deal online double or twin for the night) and also said they would do what they could to make the stay more special as it was to celebrate our engagement. Nothing was done which was a little disappointing as I thought there would maybe be a mention of if at reception or maybe a bottle or Prosecco in the room. Also as potential wedding customers I feel this was a missed opportunity for the hotel as there was no offer of brochures etc.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Lovely staff, super glam rooms, great food. Hope to visit again soon

Cons: nil
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We have stay at this hotel before and had a good stay. It has been a few years since we have stayed at the hotel and felt that it had been energised. A young manager, named Ben, was very attentive , relaxed but very efficient, making our visit excellent.
Cons: Weather

Pros: Beautiful place, quiet and peaceful with excellent scenery
Cons: Dirty windows spoil beautiful view. A little rough around the edges
5,4 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Very dour hotel.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Set in beautiful grounds. Breakfast was fine.
Cons: Stayed in a pebble dashed annex next to a derelict building 100 metres from main hotel building. As the only guests not in the wedding party made us feel like an inconvenience. Felt pressured to make quick decision for a dinner reservation so when we decided to go into town to eat, there was a reluctance to open the bar for us on our return. On checking out was given an invoice for more than the agreed price so I was kept waiting while receptionist worked out how to reduce our bill.
6,3 Good
Pros: Evening meal was excellent.
Cons: Breakfast not good - although supposedly cooked fresh looked as it had been kept warm. Sash window would not close in bedroom
6,3 Good
Pros: Shabby Edwardian country house converted to hotel. Prettily set in its own quiet park with the fast-flowing river close to the front of the house. Room well made up.
Cons: My room was carelessly converted and poorly thought-out, with cheap DIY type fittings. It was a 'single' room, with a double bed, which took up too much space. There was no room for the chair in front of the desk, which covered the wall-light switch. A bit bonkers. The bathroom was on the wrong side, half obscuring the window. A wasted opportunity, really. After waiting thirty-five minutes at breakfast, I intercepted the waitress to ask for tea, and placed my order for eggs. Most of the buffet was empty by then.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location and surrounding grounds. The room was comfortable and spacious too. Enjoyed the 2 meals we had in the Restaurant. Felt safe and secure. Generally light and airy. Good car parking right outside with CCTV. My Husband really enjoyed the breakfasts especially. Vegetarians catered for too; good selection of food on the menu both for breakfast and evening meals.
Cons: Surprised it didn’t, have a safe in the room... pillows were a little hard; but we did get them changed...the one thing that did surprise me though, was they had no hand soap in the bathroom at all. Upon arrival the first thing I did was go to the loo. Had to use the little tube of shower gel instead.

Cons: For our needs, there was nothing not to like about it but in bad weather, the self-service breakfast being in the sister hotel next-door may be a problem to some. The weather was good while we were there, so it was not a problem.

Pros: A lovely big room in an old style grand hotel. Great food and friendly helpful staff. Right next to the station.
Cons: A bit of a walk to the main attractions.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good location as central and car park
Cons: Bathroom was dirty. Breakfast was greasy and not very nice.
7,5 Good
Pros: Always stay here when we visit Dumfries...so that says it all
4,6 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was always lovely and our bed was very comfortable. It was also nice and quiet at night.
Cons: On arrival, we only had one hand towel and one bath towel. Then we discovered our TV was not working so that had to be fixed. The cord for the iron had a bare wire so they brought us a new one but did not take the unsafe one away. The vanity light above the dressing table mirror didn't work. But worst of all was the cleanliness of our room. The armchairs were very badly stained, the toilet bowl was badly stained, the shower screen was broken and filthy, (my husband actually reversed the bottom of the shower screen to stop it flooding the floor while showering), the skirting was filthy, the overflow for the wash hand basin had not been cleaned. We had dinner in the "Bistro" which is in the basement. A cold, soulless place due to the lighting and flagstone flooring.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We are at the hotel and it was delicious
9,2 Excellent

Pros: Location. Breakfast
Cons: Rickety, small bed. Grim basement restaurant
5,8 Okay
Pros: Location easy walk to town centre
Cons: We booked a double room but ended up with a twin disabled room. Lights needed changing. Was told that the water would go off at 8 am until 12pm due to major repairs Surely it would have been better to go off after breakfast when guests were leaving and coming back on when new residents were arriving
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hotel. Room was fabulous, big king size bed. Room was kitted out to a high standard. Will book again.
Cons: Only thing I could gripe on was couldn't get the shower hot enough to my liking. But it wasnt a major issue.

Pros: I cannot fault the friendliness or eagerness to help of all the staff at the Townhouse. The breakfasts were a perfect set-up for our days activities, all in all fantastic value for money. Will happily look into staying there again the next time we visit Dumfries.
Cons: Maybe a little extension of the breakfast menu to incorporate kids, for example croissants or yoghurts being made available. Also the car park area was in need of a bit of a spruce up as it let the rest of the fantastic experience down a little.
