Good 7,7
Pros: The wonderful view of the Castle itself and the large rooms and hallways
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Excellent hotel in a lovely Victorian building in a nice part of Glasgow but within easy reach of the city centre. It also seemed a bargain but I stayed at on off peak time, Sunday night, so got a very favourable rate.A really top drawer hotel and I liked the free computer and internet service in a designated room.
Cons: Nothing that I did not like.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The luxurious rooms and bathroom suite
Excellent 8,0

Excellent 8,8
Pros: Big hotel great views
Good 7,0
Pros: Great location. Ideal for SECC and Clyde Auditorium as well as both city centre and west end. Perfect for business people too.
Good 6,7
Pros: Perfect location for the SECC. Staff all friendly and helpful.
Good 7,3
Pros: The hotel was lovely and clean with very helpfull staff and easy acess to the secc for concerts
Cons: I didn't like the fact it had no windows to open, during the night it was very warm I felt I couldn't breath with no fresh air getting in
Good 7,7
Pros: The proximity to the SECC - the two are internally connected, therefore removing the need to go outside. Great in the winter time.
Cons: Didn't realise we had to pay for parking. Only £5, but still a surprise
Good 7,3
Pros: good
Okay 4,4
Pros: 1. Ease to SECC. 2. Breakfast 3. Pleasant reception staff

Good 7,6
Pros: Excellent location and views. Staff attentive and helpful. Parking was free. Good breakfast choice.

Pros: Clean, spacious accomodation.
Cons: Additional charge for car park in a non- City Centre location.

Excellent 8,0
Pros: Helpful but unobtrusive staff
Cons: Buffet style breakfast, would have prefered cooked to order, therefore, hotter food.
Good 7,3
Pros: Enjoyed the overall character of the property with individual rooms and the superb food
Cons: Disappointed that we were not able to check in until late we were not aware of a 4pm policy
Good 6,0
Pros: The biggest asset to the hotel is the staff they are all delightful, in particular Nicole, Gillian and Kirsty looked after us very well. The hotel is a lovely place to stay and I just wish we'd been able to play the golf course, we'll just have to come back.
Cons: The only problem we had was one day our room was not cleaned but as soon as I mentioned this it was sorted mmediatelty. There is a large television in the bar with sports on, the bar itself is very nice but the TV is really out of place there and should perhaps be in the Spike Bar.
Good 7,3
Pros: The comfort and relaxing atmosphere
Good 7,0
Pros: The room was very nice and the breakfast was lovely. As I arrived at 1am and left at 7.30am, there was not much time to enjoy it but it did make me want to return on my next visit.
Cons: Only that at 1am when I walked in the front door - tired and not happy due to delayed flights, I had to carry my own bag up all the stairs while the male attendee sat in his chair and ignored my presence.
Good 7,2
Pros: This Hotel is definitely worth its 5 star credentials and has lots of character, a very nice gym/pool and very helpful staff
Cons: It can feel a little bit reserved at times with very formal procedures during dinner
Good 7,6
Pros: Position and leisure facilities including the Aveda Spa
Cons: Menu included with package was limited for vegetarians although the last night the Chef provided an alternative when asked.
Good 7,6
Pros: the food, the atmosphere, the building and gardens, the spa, there was not one thing I could fault about this hotel, if you get the chance treat yourself to a break here. next time we will be staying two nights. ps the spa is a must.
Cons: $review.cons
Good 7,2
Pros: Beautifully appointed. Excellent service. Beauty rooms most attractive. Beautiful grounds and views.
Cons: My friend who accompanied me during the day for a beauty treatement but was not staying at the hotel was asked to pay £15 to use the pool for half an hour. Preposterous.
Good 6,8
Pros: $review.pros
Cons: upon arrival peculiar sewer like smell in room - they said they had to flush something out - smell dimished but still lingered in the air

Good 6,8
Cons: It was disappointing to learn that I had to pay extra for breakfast since I booked through Kayak instead of booking directly. There was no price difference if I did book directly.
Good 7,4
Pros: right next to Glasgow airport. Very convenient for early morning travel.
Excellent 8,5
Pros: proximity to airport
Cons: restaurant was a bit expensive
Good 6,0
Pros: That it is walkable to the airport.
Cons: Very basic room and bed. Everyplace we stayed in Scotland had free wifi - there is no reason why this isn't available for free at HIG as well. Restaurant was also very expensive. Bring a sandwich. Wake- up call did not occur- a true disappointment and potential disaster.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The location could not have been better four our 12 hour layover.
Good 6,8
Pros: The air conditioning was not working adequately due to unexpected heat wave, apparently. Staff was pleasant and tried their best to find us a room with operable air conditioning
Cons: We were first settled into a handicapped room. Warning signs were that there was a portable fan on the bureau (air conditioning not working in that room) - the next room we moved to had guest bottles of water available, where the handicap room didn’t even have a refrigerator in the room.
Good 7,1
Pros: Location, location, location. Also, very clean with good bedding.
Cons: It is rather old. It appears to be well maintained with no wear seen but room format shows its age, such as the tiny bathroom.
Mediocre 3,1
Pros: Location to airport is the only good thing
Cons: $333 for one night in a 2 star hotel is ridiculous
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Staff was pleasant and helpful. Bed was soft and comfy. It was also nice and quiet. Excellent location.
Okay 5,7
Cons: The Room was freezing cold & I couldnt get temp increased
Excellent 8,0
Pros: easy, quick check in and out
Good 6,0
Pros: Location. We were flying next day at 6.20 am, so it was very convenient.
Cons: Everything was ok.
Good 7,0
Pros: Request for early room availability honoured Price high compared to figures seen in other adverts but not as bad as that quoted by hotel 3 weeks previosly
Good 7,0
Pros: We have stayed several times , as it it so near the airport.
Cons: The kettle in our room was not working this time ,we discovered it too late for ourselves ( due to very early flight), but told reception staff when we left.
Okay 5,2
Pros: $review.pros
Cons: Heated towel radiator did not work, kettle in the room did not work either. Could not alter temperature in room
Okay 4,4
Pros: Near the Airport
Cons: Check in, our details were not readily found after having booked online in the afternoon.
Good 7,6
Pros: close proximity to airport
Cons: I had to leave early to catch a plane
Good 6,0
Pros: $review.pros
Cons: Had to wait until 10pm for my room to be available upon chechking in!!!!!!! Totally unaceptable!!
Excellent 8,0
Pros: On arrival the reception staff were friendly informative and efficient.I found the staff in all areas to be open, friendly and welcoming. I was unhappy with my room on the first night. It was very dark, being a corner room, the curtain on one side of the window was hanging off the rail and one of the light bulbs above the desk/dressing table was missing. I complained and was dealt with promptly and efficiently. I was upgraded to an executive room the following day without any fuss and from that point on my stay was most enjoyable.
Cons: No, the food was good, the service was excellent the room was excellent and the facilities were the same.

Good 6,3
Pros: The breakfast, the lounge donwstairs and the location. Friendly staff.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Very warm and comfortable room in a lovely small but beautifully appointed hotel
Okay 5,7
Pros: The hotel is very conveniently situated close to the University and the West End, with public transportation close by. Rooms are small but tidy, and as I had a room to the back, it as very quiet as well. Breakfast is good - you get a full English breakfast - that alone might be worth the stay, The bar is open late.
Cons: The room was very small - ok for one or two nights but if you need to work in the evening it would be too small.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: the hotel staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bedroom was clean and homely. A very good breakfast was provided, nothing was too much. The hotel had lots of information regarding local venues. This enabled us to have a stress free weekend enjoying a family wedding and shopping in Glasgow.
Good 7,0
Pros: Make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the freshly prepared cooked breakfast
Cons: Room was very, very small and in the basement. However very clean, friendly and and overall good for the price and location,
Good 6,8
Pros: I liked the size of the room, the lovely service at breakfast, bar open until we went to bed, convinient location.
Cons: The hose could be fixed up high, so had to hold it all the time.
Okay 4,8
Pros: The lounge was lovely
Cons: The very small attic bedroom avoid rooms 15 and 16 if you can, the bathroom was very small and noisy with the waste system.
Good 6,0
Pros: staff and breakfast
Cons: $review.cons
Good 7,2
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent full breakfast included in price of stay, free hi-speed internet via own laptop in lounge or via in-lounge PC, charming building, room had a nice bedroom feel rather than generic hotel feeling. 10 min to subway. Overall a great place to stay.
Cons: Room was on 4th floor and there was no lift - a real challenge wih heavy luggage. Fortunately, the fellow at the desk cheerfully volunteered to help with the bags. I would request a room on the 2nd floor for my next stay. Bathroom was tiny and could use a bit of upgrading. Carpets in hallway were a bit shabby. However, none of these things significantly deterred from my overall positive experience.
Okay 5,2
Pros: Location
Cons: no lift

Pros: Our stay was great. De rooms where clean, the beds comfortable and we had WiFi. The breakfast was also good. There is also a parking lot for your car. And the staff is very friendly.
Cons: The beds roll when you go lie in it. Bit irritating
Excellent 8,0
Pros: the oom vey spacious and clean
Cons: one staff member in resteraunt oriental woman, not very feindly at breakfast ,didnt no difference from bacon sandwich to toasted bacon ,
Good 7,0
Pros: Staff were very helpful. Room was well appointed and large. Food was excellent.
Cons: Bathroom and shower small.
Good 7,3
Pros: The staff were particularly friendly and helpful, even when we were late for breakfast they did not make a fuss. To be honest, 9.00am last call for breakfast on a Sunday I thought was a bit on the early side, 10.00am would have been more acceptable. Good value for money is what we wanted. £118 for a double room for two nights (booked on-line).
Good 6,3
Pros: Its location.
Cons: The amount of stairs. There was no lift.Unstuitable for people with walking difficulties.
Okay 5,3
Pros: The hotel room was clean and spacious.
Cons: The breakfast was horrible. Very greasy and bland.

Good 6,0
Pros: Good location with parking
Cons: Last breakfast is far too early - 9am even at weekends!!. Should be 10.30 for holiday bookings.
Okay 4,7
Pros: Staff friendly. Room recently decorated to a good standard. Breakfast good.
Cons: Unfortunately hotel was being decorated causing strong smell of paint. Room access meant climbing very steep stairs. This should be mentioned at time of booking
Good 6,3
Pros: Very clean, nice and warm with adjustable heating in the bedroom. pleasant dining room with good cooked breakfast.
Cons: bathroom had been refurbished to high standard but this was let down by the only heat coming from a wall mounted electric heater - if the floor tiles had underfloor heating it would have been superb. Also the window was frosted with net curtains but no blind or curtains to close for privacy.
Good 7,3
Pros: The Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and well maintained. All in all a really good place to stay in Glasgow.

Good 7,1
Pros: Bathroom was great I especially love the bathtub. The hotel was really cozy.
Cons: It could have been a lot cleaner. After we checked in I noticed someone else's hair in the bathroom. A little noisy. Room was a bit small for the two of us.
Mediocre 3,4
Pros: parking
Cons: Stayed here before without any problems but this time I booked a double bed, only to find two singles pushed together, which kept coming apart when slept on which made the stay extremely uncomfortable. The duvet was too small for the bedsheets and the bedsheets weren't fitted properly, looked like a rush job. To top off, I was on the 4th floor, 436, and all morning the housekeeping staff wouldn't keep the noise down and respect guests peace and quiet. There is an "office" at the end of the corridor on the forth floor where staff congregate. I had to bang my door several times so the staff realised that their noise was exessive. Did I mention the lift was broken too? Also, only had one towel in the room when two guests were staying. Overall, a total shambles.
Excellent 8,6
Pros: Staff were excellent. Friendly and very eager to help.
Cons: Room was quite warm but fans were available upon request
Good 6,7
Pros: The friendliness and efficiency of the staff was excellent. The quality of the evening meals was good and the room was warm, clean and comfortable.
Cons: The hotel offers an "Early Bird" menu but don't actually give out this menu in the restaurant at the specified times. There is also a Table D'hote menu which does not specify a price. I found this misleading as I wrongly asumed this was the "Early Bird" menu. However after some discussion my bill was adjusted to my satisfaction. The food at breakfast was disappointing - plenty choice but let down by overcooked bacon, rubbery scrambled egg and disgusting orange juice.
Good 6,0
Pros: The location for my trip
Good 6,0
Pros: Hotel ideally located for our visit - ideal location next to main road with buses every 10 mins into Glasgow. Nice bar area.
Cons: Dark lane to hotel not lit, could do with lights as a bit scary. Remote control for tv was lost in our room, we eventually found it under the bed ! Housekeeping should be checking things like this.
Good 7,7
Pros: nice modern and clean rooms, good breakfast and excellent parking
Good 6,3
Pros: A friendly, welcoming hotel that was comfortable and, to be honest, a bit of a treat. By the way if this quote is used please use two male figures.
Cons: I didn't like Christmas music over breakfast. I realise that Christmas is looming but the end of November was too soon to have this music over breakfast. Really bad, bad idea.
Good 6,0
Pros: Size of room.
Cons: $review.cons
Good 6,4
Pros: it was a hotel i would recommend
Cons: no

Pros: Centrally located good links to city centre
Cons: Cant think of anything
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Handy location for west end, very friendly staff.
Good 6,3
Pros: Location was great, simple but adequate breakfast. The hall carpet was very good
Cons: The room was a little tired. But the staff were very friendly.
Good 7,3
Pros: We had a very pleasant stay, made comfortable by a very friendly welcome, convenient location for eating out, next to Botanic Gardens, within easy walking distance of Kelvingrove.
Okay 5,0
Pros: Hotel manager is almost single handedly running hotel and is really helpful. Location is great for West End. Surrounding area is nice.
Cons: It is run down and needs serious decorative attention - character is great in a hotel, but this one needs a major overhaul. Breakfast is poor and badly presented. No hairdryer, bathroom small and dark, water system very noisy. poor ventilation.
Okay 5,7
Pros: Good location, very friendly staff, and an old building with character.
Cons: The building has definitely seen better days, and repairs and renovations were shoddily done. It made my fingers itch to get out some sandpaper and a brush!
Okay 5,2
Pros: Staff and welcome were excellent. location is superb location if you want the west end and easy access to underground. bed was very comfortable. great to have free parking included.
Cons: No wifi available which exacerbated the fact the tv which was very old needed replacing as the tube was going.
Okay 4,4
Pros: Own car park was a big plus, pleasant greeting on arrival, superb location in a very nice part of Glasgow.
Cons: Room overlooked a very busy main road. With only single glazed windows it was very noisy at night due to the constant traffic noise.
Mediocre 2,8
Pros: The hotel is a beautiful old house with a number of really nice features: the staircase, light fittings etc. It is in a really good location for getting around and about.
Cons: We booked a twin room and a single room: I think the twin room was fine the issues were mainly with the single room had it's kettle on the floornext to the waste bin, there was no remote for the tv, the toilet seat was broken and loose (when I showed the housekeeper she said yes we know about that! Doh; the toilet had a crack in it; the twin room had free view the single room didn't; non of the furniture in the single room fitted together and looked as if the owners had taken various bits and pieces and put them together; between the bedside drawers, dressing table, the drawaers on the dressing table and the wardrobe not one piece matched another! The housekeeping left a little to be desired -although given that there was only one young woman in the house it probably couldn't be helped and she was very helpful. Finally the continental breakfast hmmm just some of the highlights, sliced bread, processed ham, cheese triangles...
Okay 5,6
Pros: A clean and nicely presented Guest House and in a good location.
Cons: Very noisy, both traffic and grups of people until the early hours.
