Cons: No one there when we wanted to check in. We had to get someone to translate message on door. Perhaps an English message would Alison be helpful if the hotel is advertised on an English site. . No one answered phone when we called. We had to make our way to the information centre who finally reached hotel host on her cell phone. Lost over an hour of sightseeing time in Xanten. Rooms are funky but a little crowded with all the decoration in the rooms. Price was too high in comparison to comparable places we have stayed on our five week tour.

Pros: The rooms are rather charming with themes and interesting paintings relevant to the theme. The rooms were warm and the beds comfortable. Breakfast provided lots of choice in a pleasant environment. The location is great for the pretty little town of Xanten. There were plenty of bars, shops and restaurants although on a Sunday evening in cold March it was rather quiet. Parking outside the door was excellent.

Cons: The WiFi was not very reliable.

Pros: Totally individual and delightful. We stayed in the room called Flora and paintings on walls, in the bathroom and all the knickknacks were around the theme. A very short walk to this delightful medieval town and loads of restaurants/bars to select nearby. Breakfast was individually prepared and excellent.

Pros: Centrally situated in beautiful small Dutch town. Friendly host, comfortable and tastefully decorated accommodation. Walking distance from main square with restaurants.

Pros: (booked via Bookdifferent.com) This hotel seems a little old-fashioned, but don't be fooled. The beds and the bathroom are fully up to standards. Small things make it worthwhile: window fly screens, indoor bike parking, friendly proprietor.

Cons: I don't like the German way of obscuring the room by means of a roller shutter. But maybe that's just cultural.

Pros: Location is beautiful, lovely grounds. The whole place has a very peaceful feeling, there is a lovely organic vegetable garden at the back and walks in the woods. There are also tables and chairs outside to sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. It is about 3km to Kevelaer, we did not discover any open cafe / restaurants in Wetten. There is a vending machine that has beer, wine and soft drinks. The staff are very friendly and informative about the surrounds.

Cons: Breakfast is quiet basic. There are only 2 bathrooms per floor, and the toilet and shower are together. We did not discover any place to store our bikes inside, so they were outside, not a big problem.

Pros: Friendly staff, clean facilities and very comfy beds. Thank you to the kind lady who checked us in late at night at 11.30pm.

Pros: World house Wetten is trying to contribute to a better world. E.g. not connected to the electricity grid (they generate electricity with gas based engine), and trying to grow food in local garden. Located in an old convent (last sisters departed in 2004), it is a very quiet place with a big garden. People are very nice.

Pros: Best place I could stay during my bike trip. After cycling for 6h I was welcomed with a room upgrade and surprised to know that the hostel is bio and vegetarian. Breakfast on the next day was great and complete and checkout stress free. I don’t know when life will take me to Wetten again but I’d definitely stay there if so!

Cons: On booking.com I selected the cheapest room which was described as a double bed with an extra bed. When I got to the hotel I was told that I had the last room which had a water mattress. It was not the room I had selected. The mattress was far too soft and I did not sleep well.

Pros: Great place to spend the night when you have an early flight from Weeze airport. Traditional German hotel with a bar and restaurant downstairs. The studio is a great space! It was very clean and their was parking on the street or at the back of the hotel.

Pros: Excellent staff! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was very good. Pub was very cozy. Excellent location. Roughly a block from the bahnhof, 2-3 blocks from groceries and market street. Stayed in 3 hotels in the Kleve area, this one was the best.

Pros: Very nice restaurant inside the hotel, tasty food and good Früh (Kölsch) beer. The personnel was just great. We didn't have the chance to have breakfast, but it is for sure very useful that the hotel offers breakfast from 6.30 a.m., since many of the hotel guests are having early flights from the airport Weeze situated nearby (15 min with the car). We had no problem to find a free parking place on the street directly in front of the hotel.

Cons: The rooms look not so nice as in the pictures, the rooms and above all the bathrooms are quite old-fashioned, but clean and spacious enough.

Cons: The hotel was quite hard to find and nobody was there when I arrived. I had to phone to get entry. Room was very basic, would’ve liked some complementary toiletries for a shower. Tv had no channels in English (it is Germany but even a news channel would’ve been nice, considering all German tv is dubbed and I don’t speak German!) breakfast was set out on tables, uncovered, good enough choice but would prefer if I could’ve picked myself as didn’t know how long it had been out. It was difficult to find any staff (hotel was really quiet-didn’t see any other guests!)

Cons: We were very disappointed to arrive after a very long cycle ride to find the shutters down and the door locked.having studied the website over and over,we were lead to believe that a good food menu was available.the hotel is in quite an isolated spot regarding food availability,particularly when a bicycle is the only form of transport.when the door was opened and we were checked in,we were informed that there is no food on Tuesdays.!!!!I can find no mention of this at all on the website.we were directed half a mile down the road to a Chinese restaurant.thank goodness that was open.all the other guests that night were also on bicycles as well. The towels and bedding had seen better days.

Pros: Amazing familial guestrooms! The personel was very friendly and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast had great quality, variety and really fresh orange juice. We would definitely recommend you to taste the dishes at the restaurant. Very tasty and very good prices for the quantity. I wish I have the opportunity to return!

Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and service was excellent. The food was plentiful and delivered quickly, as was the beer. We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay and it was a joy to enjoy the beer garden on midsummers night.

Pros: The property has good view and has swimming pool. It was located in a nice place and was a peaceful and lovely stay with the family. The staff was amazing when we check in, he explained everything in detail.

Cons: The walk to the rooms from the left is a bit confusing as the rooms before the actual hotel rooms are for elderly residents who lives there but was little confused when we went up.

Cons: I booked two rooms. One did not have a lock in the bathroom so we struggled to use it freely. The other rooms bathroom shower head was falling off constantly. Also uncomfortable as it would fall on our heads. Also no wifi in the rooms its very inconvenient.

Cons: It's a very basic hotel - no iron or water kettle in the room. We made the reservation for myself, my husband and our daughter, but the room just had one bed, which was two twin beds pushed together. So someone had to sleep in the crack. Also, the wifi is only available in a small area of the lobby.

Pros: The room was clean with a comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Parking on the street outside was free. Very good breakfast included in the price which wasn't on site but in gausthaus spickermann. We ate there in the eveing in the beer garden and the food was very hearty with big potions and a few veggie options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice view from the room of the village.

Cons: The checking in process involved going to the gausthaus spickermann to get the key. The women who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. No Air conditioning in the room making sleep impossible as it was very hot when we're there. The room was accessed by an outside staircase. No lift. The corridor to the room smelt of cigarette smoke. Not Great value for money.
