Considering the current covid guidelines and extra pressure for businesses to comply, our stay at the Clayton was faultless. We have stayed at this hotel several times and always look forward to going back. Staff in all areas extremely efficient and friendly.
Good location in town, a walk to the nearest shopping streets and restaurants.
Some places were not clean, the remote hadn’t been wiped down in quite some time. Had to use my own disinfectant wipes to clean. Windows also hadn’t been cleaned, you could see where someone had put their face against it multiple times. Everything else was fine but given the time we are in and lockdown barely lifted, you would think that hygiene standards would be higher for people’s safety.
Very comfortable and relaxing
The room was nice and the view over Cork was fabulous. The bed was huge and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although you couldn't drink at the bar you could order drinks from the room using an online app and pick them up from the reception. The hotel is in a great location for exploring Cork, we didn't eat/drink there but the restaurant/bar looked nice and inviting.
The room and the hallways were extremely hot, much too warm for the weather outside. The tiles in the bathroom and the mini fridge could do with a deep clean. Only 1 key and 1 towel provided for a double room. The divider between the balconies was ripped. Although it's not the hotels fault there were a lot of rough sleepers outside the hotel at night which would make it an undesirable place to walk late at night. Parking costs an extra 12e per night in the underground carpark.
