Chengdu Haotian Guotai Hotel - Chengdu - Building

9,9 Excellent (855 reviews)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The wellness centre was lovely - you even get coupons for foot bath sessions. The room was exquisite. The restaurant was great. Above all the staff were absolutely lovely in spite of most of them not speaking English at the restaurant and the spa. There was an absolutely lovely gentleman at the concierge who spoke very good English though. He even kindly helped me to send some postcards. I stayed there for my last night in China and I'm glad it ended on such a great note. Great place to relax and pamper yourself. It is only 15mins from the airport and the free shuttle is very reliable. It might not be convenient to stay there for city centre activities but if you want to drive out to the panda base and the Leshan Buddha with private guides then it would still make for a good choice. Otherwise there's only a luxury mall that is in the vicinity. And they also accepted VISA payment.
Cons: Hardly anything. It was really great value for money. But if like me you're in a habit of taking your used slippers with you then refrain from doing so because they will ask for it back.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything was perfect except for a bit of communication issues as most staff doesn’t speak English and it takes very long time when they use the translator app. But overall very good service and staff were very helpful. I will definitely recommend.
Cons: Free wifi but internet doesn’t work on your phone if you didn’t buy the phone in china. Incompatibility issues, would be nice if the hotel let the customers know about it in the first hand. They provide you with tea and coffee but no sugar or milk. You need to go to first floor and buy them from the shop.

7,1 Good
Pros: Room was comfortable with a lounge and small table for relaxing and watching TV.
Cons: Too far out of the central area. Had to get taxis to go anywhere.
2,5 Mediocre
Cons: In good faith, I approached this property to alter my check in dates. Despite follow up emails, the Hotel ignored my request. The provided phone lines were out of order or not answered. Even a polite email saying that no changes were permitted would have been professional. Very unprofessional

Pros: Love the view and its location. It is in the heart of Chengdu. Best location if you travel to city for business. Hotel is attached to 2 biggest shopping mall in the city. Highly recommendation.
Cons: the hotel lobby is on the 3rd level, which can be a bit confusing. Considering most of them you will need to exit the compound to the ground level, but you often find yourself trans-passing a restaurant... which is not a pleasant experience.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, very good facilities, staff were all very helpful and friendly
Cons: Quite noisy in the corridor when people walk passed my room. Not many non-Szechuan style restaurants choices nearby - not user-friendly for solo travellers. It was next to a shopping mall but the mall didn’t have decent restaurants unlike everywhere else, only 2, one buffet place and one hotpot place. Not sure if I would return due to the above reasons. No fault from the hotel itself, it’s a beautiful place and very comfortable to stay.
7,0 Good
Pros: Best gym i have seen in a hotel. Every kind of cardio, weight machine and free weights you could need. Huge pool. Rooms are huge and clean. Hotel itself is very new and nice
Cons: Little English by the staff. They have to come to your room if you want to order room service in English (point to the menu). Internet is horrible, but normal for china.

Pros: The frontline staff Alvin Huang (香港) was very friendly and helpful

4,0 Okay
Pros: -Breakfast is good. -Bed is comfortable . -The bellboys are good looking and friendly. -Chinese restaurant, the food is very delicious!
Cons: Several details ruined our entire stay. No service mind in general. - I booked a Deluxe king room for 3 nights here on booking and the check-in staff suggested us to pay extra to upgrade to a Gold suit which we did, but the problem is they didn't inform us we need to pay for our 12years old son's breakfast fee. We could just book two Deluxe king rooms instead. -No executive lounge use rights from our extra pay upgrade, but book directly from booking you will get. The price is about the same. -We ordered a chief's recommended kimchi soup from the Japanese restaurant, the recipe of the menu has written very clearly that there's squid in the soup, but no squild at all, not even a taste of squid!!!!! How they solve the problem after we asked....no one told us why and they did nothing about our doubts. In the breakfast restaurant, the baker was just standing there and talking with one guest for 15 minutes and he did ignored another guest made one of the food pliers dropped on the floor. And they never replace it. So the next guest can continue to use it. Welcome to the Fairmont Chengdu! -Jan.2nd morning around 6:50 when I took my plate to take food, right in front of me, behind the food table. One of the chef expectorated really loud. And another two chefs came they started to chat, one of them was swearing loud: F**k your mum's pus*y! in Sichuan dialect"***ni ma mai P". Is that my fault to understand their dialect ? Those shouldn't be the services you get in a 5 stars hotel, especially an international brand like Faidmont!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was so great! Definitely i'll choose Fairmont Hotel next time :)

Pros: Breakfast and cleanliness and staffs

Cons: Reception staff were impatient. Room was poor quality, carpet and curtain were filthy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I was upgraded to a suite - the staff changed sheets every day - did not use breakfast service, Nice views of the city - comfortable stay.
Cons: The hotel is a ten minute walk to metro which is fine. But around the property for a quarter of mile are few restaurants or shops- this is In contrast to so many other chengdu hotels which are located around the city. Still, a pleasant stay.
7,1 Good
Pros: Clean and spatious rooms. The hotel is located in a not too busy area of Chengdu and close to the subway.
Cons: All other guests seemed to be Chinese families (national holiday period). This means noisy people during the night in the corridors and other rooms. The staff was helpful but English could be better.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Huge comfortable bed, excellent shower, nice view of river and city center. Easy to walk around town or rent a bike. Convenience store 30m away. Easy check-in/out. Accepts international credit cards. Pool and gym are good.
Cons: Table in room was unstable and closet doors did not stay closed, so inside light stayed on. Must have a cap if you swim in the pool.
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel was what you would expect of a luxurious hotel. 24 hours service, daily room cleaning, good food. Also the river view really stood out to be great.
Cons: I missed the little pile of printed out city maps you can usually find in hotels a little bit. Maybe I just didn't see it though. Also it takes a while(about an hour) to get to the attractions of chengdu)
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location is superb and the subway is within walking distance

Pros: Of all my travels and hotel stays worldwide, this was my best of the best experience. If there is any better word to describe other than wonderful, amazing, this hotel earns it. Great staff, great green gardens and fresh air. Both hubby and I do not speak Mandarin, the staff we met took great effort to communicate with us and helped us in every way. We were always greeted with smiles. Special shout out to Neal Gan and Alex Wang. Guys, you're the best! Thank you and Crowne Plaza Panda Garden very much.
Cons: The hotel is just 10 mins away from the Giant Panda base but that means it is about 15km from the city and one hour from the airport by car. However, the distance from the hustle and bustle means fresh air and great green gardens around the hotel. Breakfast could do with varieties.

Pros: The hotel is in a fantastic location. The rooms are huge and views are amazing. The beds are huge and so comfortable. The whole hotel is so clean. The breakfast was out of this world, so much to choose from. Highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: The pool, just a bit of a let down when everything else was so fantastic.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Not a new hotel, but in an unbeatable location. Half an hour taxi ride to Chengdu Airport, smack in the middle of shopping centres, 20 minute drive to Panda Breeding centre, 10 drive to 'Kuan-Zai' alley. Linked to 'Yanlord shopping centre' which has a massage chain, lots of restaurants (the rice bowl place at the top floor has a great beef rice bowl) and a coffee joint. Also opposite the road to Cosmo Shopping Centre which is home to famous hot pots like HaidiLao, Tan Yu Fish etc.
Cons: Pillows have no support. We both got bad neckaches. Thankfully the massage parlour at Cosmo got rid of these for us.

Pros: Good location with great facilities . Room is very spacious, and enjoyed the hospitality of the staff.
Cons: Nothing.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Good location, adequate breakfast
Cons: Can’t change the temperature in the room, one setting for all guests during winter.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great. We were treated so well from the time we arrived to the time we checked out and the staff there were very friendly indeed. From the spacious reception areas to the spacious rooms, the stay was so welcoming and everything we needed were provided for us in the room. The housekeeping was excellent and prompt despite the lack of English proficiency of the staff. We found the lounge being the most attractive service provided by the hotel, with a variety of food and a comfortable place for us to meet up and have a nice chat over a cup of hot tea. The view of the river is as claimed and since it was so near the river, an evening walk along it was very pleasant indeed. The location of the hotel was also good, not too far from the city centre (500m) and not too close where you will be constantly be reminded of the heavy city traffic. Food in the hotel was superb, but if you are into local cuisine, there are so many around this hotel within walking distances. So are the shops, from convenient stores to shopping centres, everything you need is within walking distance. Breakfast was superb with enough variety from both Western and local selections. Love the fresh fruits and juices.
Cons: The hotel although very grand, in general it appears to be dated especially the rooms. Not too much of problem though everything seems to work. I guess in winter the air-conditioning does not need to work but there must be a way to improve the air circulation. The TV selection was OK with sufficient English speaking channels, but the reception was not great as they lack HD quality transmission. The support services was alright, the gym and SPA was convenient, but while we were there the swimming pool was under maintenance, and whilst it is mentioned somewhere that there is a games room, we definitely could not find it. Does not help with the language breakdown. The porter service was fast going up to our room; but when we asked for pick up from room to lobby for check out, it took too long, ending up we had to drag our bags ourselves, which was a real pain.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful in every way as expected from a five stars hotel.
Cons: There was no advance information that the swimming pool was under renovation. This deterred me to use the facility that I had paid for! The Public transportation was located slightly further than expected.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was beyond expectations. Value for money.
Cons: Everything was Good

Pros: Nice older hotel. We had the club room with access to the lounge. What a treat. Not only free drinks, but snacks and the big surprise - free dinner from a short, but very high quality ala cart menu. The steak was fantastic. Spend the couple extra dollars for the club room. Totally worth it. We stayed at the Shangri La in Guilin and The Sheraton in Shanghai on this trip. The Dorsett was by far the best hotel. The people working at the club lounge were extremely helpful and nice. Good shower and comfy bed.
