When I went to go pick up the car. The Avis person was very stressed and a little off putting and very quickly said they wouldn’t give me a car until after my scheduled appointment time. They had a few suvs and a lot of electric cars on their lot (none of which classes I ordered.) I was very calm and explained that I had an appointment I had to make, so they gave me a different class of car. The car was fine, just not what I ordered. Return experience was fine

Pros:

The car was a beautiful brand new 2020 model. The interior was sparkling clean and the exterior only had a few chipped paint spots. The car drove smoothly and fit my wife and I’s need.

Cons:

The staff at the pickup location was rude. Was not friendly and could’ve made the process of checking in for the car for enjoyable and less stressful.

It would have helped to know that the Enterprise agency where we had rented from on-line was closed at noon on Saturday, especially as we didn't arrive until 1:00 p.m.. We were never able to pick up our rental car.

Pros:

Staff was friendly but unhelpful when I needed to return the rental after an hour when we realized the mattress we were trying to donate would not fit safely into the truck bed. They would not refund the purchase although fuel unchanged and plenty of inventory on lot indicating we were not tying up any vehicles. Very disappointing.

Canceled the reservation the same day I made it because the date was wrong and almost a month later and still no refund when I spoke with the woman on the phone she told me it was canceled and I'd see my refund in 5-7 days and nothing

Pickup experience was a nightmare and I was placed into a dirty car.

Cons:

Speed at checkout. They should have cleaned the car... esp during Covid. They should have placed me into a different car if they didn’t have time to clean the car they put me into. I also could not get ahold of customer service for the life of me. Awful experience.

Pros:

Drop off at SFB was easy. We had to change our drop-off location mid-trip and this was easy to do over the phone using the “rental extension” phone number on our initial receipt.

Cons:

Was traveling with an IL driver’s license that had its expiration date extended 6 months by the state of IL due to Covid-19. No issues with TSA in 3 different airports. No issues anywhere except Hertz in St. Petersburg where the store manager would not allow me to pick up the car. In the state of FL, Hertz does not have good options for dealing with toll roads. You can either pay an exorbitant amount of money up-front (for our rental period something like $70, way more than the amount we would pay in tolls), or you can get charged afterwards for the tolls you use + a $10 administrative fee for each. There are several toll roads where you can only “pay by plate” or transponder and there is no option for paying with cash, so if you don’t know the area and your navigation takes you on one of these roads, Hertz has you over a barrel.
