Not greatUnfortunate timing: I picked up the car when the rental agencies were located in terminal but they moved off terminal the next day so that I had to drop off at a new location off terminal with a very bumpy train ride to the terminal. It wasn’t enterprise’s fault but the Tampa airport expansion now requires you to take this train from the rentals to a confusing interim location and then take another train to get to the gates, with insufficient signage.The man who showed me to my car was very nice but I have to say that it felt like a scam when he first asked me did I want to upgrade (and pay the difference) from the economy car I had reserved (I did not) and then upgraded me anyway because there were no economy size left — so had I said yes I would have paId unnecessarily instead of getting the upgrade at no extra charge per standard practice when no cars in your reserved class are available. He then tried a hard sell on getting me to purchase insurance, to the point of scare tactics no other rental agency has ever used on me (“you’ll pay the rental rate every day after you return the car until your insurance company settles the claim”), which left me feeling extremely paranoid the entire trip, when I have used my own insurance for rentals every time in my 20+ years of renting cars (and never before felt so paranoid about some other driver dinging my rental).

Car just as described. Good price for the rental. Located right at the airport so no shuttle, and pickup was very quick.Pickup sacrificed speed for detail (would have purchased a toll package if I was told it was available) and dropoff was disorganized (was a busy time for returns, to be fair).

Never renting from Alamo againthe car was prettyI reserved a car online 4 months ago. Two weeks ago, I checked into Alamo at the airport to get my car. The sales person tried to HARD-SELL me on an upgrade, despite my saying over & over & over I did NOT need a nicer SUV (she wanted me to upgrade to a BMW SUV) . She came at 3 different times and when I firmly said no 3x and she finally gave up, (all with my kids next to me exhausted from a long day of travel, I'll have you) she came at me again and this time for the insurance. I have excellent car insurance for which I pay a pretty penny that I know covers all rental issues AND I have AMEX who has great coverage as a benefit of the card do I knew I did not need the insurance. She then asked me who my car insurance company was, claiming they need to know bc that is how they make claims, but NEVER asked for my policy number. She claimed that SHE KNEW my insurance did NOT cover what I thought that did and that AmEX would not cover anything. I consistently said, "Ok. But I DO NOT want the insurance. I rent cars ALL the time and know what I am doing." When I refused the extra coverage for the 4th time, she said, "FINE," loudly and angrily. When I went to walk away she vibed me, and said with an angry tone, "Your STANDARD SUV will be waiting for you....." Her tone was so nasty that my my son asked why she was treating me that way and said, "Did she really just vibe you for not renting a BMW?" The car we picked up was supposed to be washed but instead looked washed soaped up & left to dry before rinsing. It had dried soap ALL over it. It was the last car of the kind we rented that would work for us, so we had to use it. However, for renting a car for over a week and spending close to $1000, the whole experience sucked. It is the first time I rented from Alamo and will never rent from them again,

On the 3rd car we finally left the airport- the first one the keys didn’t work and they made us walk through the other renters leaving the airport, the second one said oil change required and their was holes in the seats. Finally after speaking with a manager we got a functional car but ended up being charged again. Horrible experience. Do NOT use Hertz !

The man who helped us at the desk was incredibly rude. Extra charges were put on my card but are no where on the receipt to explain why I was charged extra money. I will never be using Hertz again because this was ridiculous. Please save yourself some headache and go to anything car rental place

I reserved the car online for 1am pick up. When I went to pick it up the rental counter was closed until 6am. So I slept on a bench for those hours. Why give the option of picking up at 1am if no one is going to be there?!

The rep at the counter, Allen, was very helpful and made extra effort to get a map for me to get back to the baggage claim area once I got the truck. He gave me a sticky note with numbers on it to give to the other rep in the booth to pickup the car. Once I got down there, she was quickly able to provide the keys and let me know where the car was. I asked her if she had any paperwork for me as I had not signed anything with Allen. She asked if he told me the computer was down, but he had not said anything about that. I felt very uncomfortable about leaving in the car without any paperwork and I had to get back to the airport to pick up my 92 yr old father in law. The car was very clean and he looked in the glove compartment and saw an insurance document. I called my husband who had made the reservations for the car in January and prepaid for the rental. Allen said there was a security deposit of $400.00 which he put on my credit card and added a basic insurance coverage on but it didn’t sound like I had a choice to not get that since I have my own full coverage from home. He said I would get $200 -$250.00 credited back once the car was returned. All of this was quick but did cause me some concern after hearing that someone claiming to be Hertz car rental was found to be renting stollen cars and I was just praying the whole time I had the car not to get pulled over and gave the car impounded and be without a car.!!! The computer system was still down when I returned the car but the rep was very helpful and she was able to verify timely return and the car was in good condition. My suggestion would be to consider having a paper backup set of documents available for car rental clients when the system is down. Your call system down not allow your clients to contact a person with concerns like this and the only communication option was to send an email, which my husband did the day I picked up the car but he hasn’t heard a response as yet. The vehicle and rental process was good overall. The only issue I had was with the pickup procedure. When I got to the desk to pickup the vehicle I had already arranged, I had to wait behind two indecisive customers and my family ended up having to wait 30 mins. It was no fault of sixt, but if there were a quicker pickup process or one line dedicated to already rented vehicles and one line for new rentals it would have expedited the process. The line backed up and over 10 people with prior rentals had to wait as well. Overall a good experience but could use better follow through. The drop off was very quick and easy. I just wish the pickup was the same.

Worst ever. No personnel at airport desk. Prepay customers ahead of me had been waiting 1.5 hrs with no sign of someone— a person took care of one client then disappeared. Had to book a car with a competitor on the spot and paid twice as much due to last minute booking. Thrifty never again.

the service at pick up and drop off was very quickly. The car was really comfortable. I loved how easy the process of rented. I definitely recommend rent a car in TPA. I just recommend to ask for a not smoking car. The car I rented is supposedly non-smoking but obviously someone had smoked in the car.

A two hour plus wait in line to pick up the car. Desk agents took 15 to 20 minutes with each customer. Everyone had to wait for a car to be processed from Return. Despite a reservation I had to wait. Was told the Mexicans were taking their time washing them! Outrageous. The car I received had been hosed off but the interior windows were cloudy with a smoky film. Driving in the dark was impaired by this. Upon return I had to go to the counter again. The car in the pickup spot I was assigned was not the vehicle the rental agreement was for. Happily the second wait was very short. But unwelcome at 4 AM. Between the waiting and the bigoted comment I was very unhappy. Budget will need to earn my business in the future. That is shameful.

Pickup and cleaniness were great. The car kept giving me a "Maintenence Required" warning over and over for the entire rental. I told the person when I dropped it off. Also, the rental return signage at the New Orleans airport were aweful and I missed my flight. While this is not a reflection on the car rental itself gettting an accurate drop off address at the time of rental would be wonderful. I searched the internet prior to my rental and got the best address I could but it did not help and for the first time in my life I missed a flight (I always leave plenty of time for unforseen events but the amount of time lost far exceeded my expectations).

An emergency came up and I was a bit late returning my rental. I called customer service before hand and let her know. She said no problem I wouldn't be charged and to let the person know when I dropped it off. When I dropped the car off the lady again said no problem and I wouldn't be charged for an additional day. I got my receipt shortly after and I was indeed charged for an additional day and an extra day with the sun pass. Terrible

Car amazing. New. Clean. Great value. But....the poor gentleman one of only two people checking in over TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE IN LINE FOR OVER 2.5 HOURS...I felt bad for him. Budget - you need to staff your counters, this was like nothing I have ever seen. Do better. Your employee did his very best.

When I made a reservation for 6am I did not expect to not be in a car at 7:45. The counter which combined Avis and Budget was understaffed. The 2 agents were polite and helpful, however it was insanely slow to get to the counter. Once there, I headed downstairs to find the car they assigned was not what I reserved, a full size car, but a Honda CR-V with a bald front tire that was PAST the wear indicator. It was dirty, smelled, and honestly looked more like a personal car than a rental. After waiting in another line downstairs I was switched to a Toyota Camry, which too was dirty. This is consistent with the online reviews. I use Enterprise typically, but they were sold out. This experience only reinforced why I use them and will continue to use them over companies like Budget.

After waiting in the line for 42 minutes to get my car, the one they assigned me was gone and had to take the time to get another one. The vehicle they gave me was dirty, had very worn tires (have pics), hydroplaned. The vehicle has over 55K miles and was a piece of junk. Very poor service and this vehicle was unsafe to drive due to w loose front end steering. Budget should be ashamed for how junky this vehicle was. It was the WORST car rental that I have had in all my years renting cars (and I'm 59 years old). VERY DISSATISFIED!

The lines were way too long. It took us as long to get the car as it did to check in and go through TSA. I had two people in wheelchairs at the time and we waaited an hour to get our car. There needs to be a better way. The people at the desk were very knowlegeable and quick. They were courteous and handled the crowd well. That was great. There was no one outside to help us find the car, but we figured it out.

We were not able to pickup the car because the Dollar/Thrifty line to the counter was so long that it would have taken many hours to get waited on. There were hundreds of people waiting in line with only 3 or 4 agents checking people in. We had been traveling for 27 hours and we arrived at the airport at 6 pm. A wait of 3 hours or more was unacceptable. As a consequence we had to rent a car from another rental company at twice the price. In addition we are having difficulty in getting reimbursed for the rental deposit. I will never use Dollar or Thrifty again.

Waiting time to pick up the car almost 2 hrs at TPA. Plus if you have voucher type of reservation such as mine from Hotwire, you cannot change the drop off location for the unexpected reasons. I had to pick up cars 2 times in a week, and I had always incredibly long waiting time even was longer than my flight time.

Dollar saved me when I didn’t think I had any other option. Budget had cancelled my rental last minute, only after my flight home had been cancelled, and so I was stranded in Tampa with my two boys. The line to get to the counter was very long, but when it was my turn, it was extremely fast and efficient. The drop off at Milwaukee airport was fast and easy also! I will definitely use Dollar for my rental needs in the future!

I had to wait in a line for 2 and a half hours to get my vehicle. Talking to the people in line this is common for Dollar and Thrifty. I filled the gas tank up at a gas station less than a quarter mile from drop off yet Dollar still charged me $24 for fuel. Never going with Dollar or Thrifty again. It’s worth the extra money to go with a company that gives a crap about you.

It took a LONG time to even get through the line to rent the car. Only one worker. Then when we went to get the car one of the drivers that brought up the cars was a huge jerk. Car was pretty clean except there was a lot of chips between the passenger seat and console.

My Representative was pleasant.Only reason I ended up at ACE is because they were the only one that had a car for the time period I needed a car. They the reps are super hard sell on all the up charges when just the base rental fee was high to begin with. Not sure I would call a Nissan Versa a mid-sized car, but that was the 'similar' sized car that I had to take. Would be the last choice again.

I feel like the customer service person kept adding on extra and by the time I was done my bill was over $500 and when I booked it was around $250. She tried to add insurance until I caught that. Then told me there were tolls everywhere so then added on for tolls. I didn’t hit one toll booth. I just get money money back for tolls because it’s a scams. You would b able to tell if I hit a toll. I will not use this service only because the customer service was sneaky. I don’t like that and the toll booth is a scam.

Upon arrival in TPA we found the Advantage desk was closed and nearby car rental agencies said that Advantage had been closed for more than two months although we had received no notification. We called the phone number listed on our reservation only to be directed to a call center that could neither help us obtain a rental car with another agency nor assist us in any way. Advantage appears to be a scam and Kayak should not make any reservations with them.

My reservation number was NPRL8BADE5 The experience was actually less than POOR. It was awful. I had my reservation for a four day minivan rental from Tampa and back to Tampa . Saturday, Feb 19 - Wednesday, Feb 23 , 8am . I went to the Advantage booth to pick up my minivan at 8am on Feb 19 ........ AND THERE WAS NO ONE WORKING AT THE ADVANTAGE BOOTH. Basically, it was closed. Another worker from ACE rent a car came over and said........."Advantage has been closed for a while now." WHAT ???? I called the Advantage toll free number. The receptionist said she was going to call the local Tampa number and I waited on HOLD. After a few minutes, she came back and said ........"nobody answered, can you try the 800 number back in 10 minutes?" I said........"I'm here. There's no one here." And, I then took another half hour and proceeded to go past every rental agency in the airport and (being a school holiday week)......they were all "sold out." I had booked my rental van on July 6, 2021. That would be over 7 months ahead of time. So, my question is ..........should I NOT use Advantage Car Rental again ? Or, should I NOT use Kayak again ? Advantage never showed up at 7 a.m. at the desk in Tampa. Ace Rental took my reservation at 7. They got into Advantage's computer. The car's transmission started having problems half way through the drive from Tampa Airport to my destination in Ft. Myer's. I called Ace, they called back and asked if I wanted a tow truck to tow me back. I said no as the car somehow readjusted itself when I turned it off and restarted it. Then I continued on the highway, and the transmission started having trouble again. I could only go 40 in a 70 mph zone. It was dangerous. Advantage said I did not show up for my rental. I said yes, but Ace took it over. I was told that was not possible. It was. The check engine light turned on. I sat for 30 minutes on a road off of the highway. I was told people would call me. They did not. I drive 30 mph to get to my sister's house with noises under the car. I finally made it to my sister's house. Later that evening, a tow truck dropped off a different car and took that one. The man could barely drive the car up onto the truck. He has to back it up and gun it. What should have taken me 2 hrs and 10 minutes took 5.5 hours. I understand that cars have mechanical issues. But it was the lack of communication and failure to take responsibility by the staff that was the most troublesome. The first car had a front end shake at 44 mph and I had to drive it back over the bridge. Very unsafe and scary!!!! Advantage should have sent someone to pick this car up from me. This could have become a serious liability. I was not offered anything for the inconvenience and safety. Very dissatisfied!

Staff during the check-in process was great. The lady at the counter was very friendly.Getting the care was different. Unfortunately, Advantage didn't have any staff there and one of the other companies was handling their vehicles. The poor guy was flying solo while handling his company and Advantage. To top it off the first car had an issue with the seat and they had to get another car cleaned and to me, which added about 20-minutes. Also, if you can update the information on the site to show that the pickup location is in TPA's Rental Car Center. It shows an off-site location and I was momentarily lost until someone pointed me in the right direction.

CONSUMER BEWARE! They didn't have the car I reserved a month in advance. They said we could upgrade to a different car for an additional $50. We did. The first car they gave us had a broken trunk and the inside bell kept going off that the trunk was open. They kept saying nothing is wrong. I had to show them where the trunk was bent and out of line that it wouldn't close right. We didn't even leave the lot and requested a different car. What they gave us was deplorable. Stained seats, unwashed, dents, dings and scratches all over it and had 55K miles on it. It looked like a trade-in vehicle that most dealers would send to the auction. Just driving it was embarrassing. It was so bad that I contacted the Florida Consumer Affairs Department for unfair business practice and possible fraud. My wife wasn't born in America and the attendant at the window asked, "Where are you from?" She replied, "New Jersey." Then the attendant was not satisfied and said, "No... originally." In her culture that is an insult to question someone's origins. Needless to say, she was livid. Overall, it was the worst experience I've ever had as a traveler.

The car rental paperwork and pickup was pretty quick and easy. The rental agreement was emailed, versus paper copy, which was a plus. The vehicle we rented had been around awhile, but performed well. The return process was very fast, with a friendly attendant. All in all, a good experience.

Confirmation email from Kayac inidicated wrong info about how to reach the Fox counter at Tampa airport: saying to take the off-airport shuttle (that is difficult to find) while Fox counter is inside the terminal. At pick-up in Tampa, Fox employee tried to scare me to push me to buy CDW and LDW insurances while I was paying with my Amex Platinium card that well covers this already. I finally succeeded to avoid it.

The car desperately needed new tires. I felt like I was driving a bumper car. With rain, the tires would spin, did not feel safe driving even driving under speed limit due to bald tires. Junky car. Stains all in interior. Car had a bunch of dents on exterior. 51,000 on this rental car, usually when you have a rental car and paying premium for the rental car, they are usually in less mileage of a car with feeling safe when driving.

The windows, especially the windshield, were very filthy both on the inside and the outside!! We could barely see out of it when driving at night. We went and bought Windex and wipes to try to get them cleaner. They were still very greasy looking and smeared and would not come clean. That is dangerous!

Pick up was merged with Budget/Avis. Took about 1.5 hrs to get through the line. Desk person had thick accent, and talked fast through a mask. There was a misunderstanding, I was charged Loss of Use insurance, and we had to redo the paperwork. Vehicle was delivered with quarter tank of fuel, the interior stank, and I believe a wheel bearing was beginning to fail.

Payless didn't have any SUVs left for us so they had to borrow one from Avis/Budget. The previous renter had obviously smoked in the car, and perhaps it had been cleaned but still absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. They didn't have any other SUVs to give us (and they had to borrow this one of course) so we took it, but we had to drive with the windows down the entire trip as the stench was horrendous. Of course, it wasn't Payless's car, but when we turned it in and I informed the Payless attendant about the horrible smell he just blew it off basically and didn't even apologize.

Once we actually got to a staff member (after waiting in line for over an hour because the Payless, Avis, and Budget counters were all combined), he was very polite and helpful. The car was new and it was very nice. Drop off was an ease.A warning at least would have been nice about the lack of staffing or the possible extended wait times. The fact that I set a pick up time and expected to go to the counter to get my car, but waited in line for over an hour instead was frustrating to say the least. I have appreciated an offered substantial upgrade or refund for the inconvenience.

The staff member in Tampa was terrific. We wanted to rent a Jeep Cherokee, and he went out of his way to ensure we got one. Thanks!The car was overall very clean, but there was a bit of sand in the back seat of the vehicle. I suppose that's to be expected since it was Florida and beach season. At any rate, it didn't bother us in the slightest and the experience was great.

The site is very close to the airport, so very easy to access. We got bumped up from a compact to a mid-size vehicle, which was fine (though we were hoping to tool around in a Mini or a Fiat, I'm pretty sure they advertise those vehicles as the "class," then switch you out to a tiny Toyota or something else). There were only two issues: (1) if you opt out of liability insurance, you need to provide proof of your policy. We called our agent, who's a friend, who promptly emailed us. If you don't have this ready-to-hand, you're stuck. (2) The toll situation was a bit maddening. It's $11/day for the Sun Pass or $25/ea for tolls. However, we could've just paid by cash & spent $3 rather than $44. It's one of those nickel-&-diming issues that could be handled better at the time of rental by someone who knows the area & can advise you on what makes the most sense...

Off site car rental company, had I known that I would not have rented. Two hours after I landed I finally had a car. My return flight was at 7:20 am, the rental company didn’t open until 6:00 am, wasn’t going to risk missing my flight so dropped car off early and had someone take me to the airport. Sorry, but I won’t rent from here again..

Booked Nissan Rogue received Toyota Rav 4 instead. Customer Service was okay but not friendly about rental term policies, especially pushing me about insurance coverage for my rental. Rented many vehicles in past. Never asked to prove IF I have current auto insurance coverage. Shuttle van pickup time at airport for 6:15 to 7PM time slot was late. Driver was not friendly.

Do not use this company. For all I know this is a shell company that steals credit card info. I needed to modify the reservation . I first tried via their website but it wasn’t letting me modify the reservation. Then I emailed—no response. I called-couldn’t reach a human. I messaged via WhatsApp. Still no response. Advise avoiding this company entirely.

I liked the car. I could not have hated the process to get the car more. Additional CDC-mandated cleaning requirements along with so much stimulus money means no one is willing to clean these cars in-between rentals anymore. All the managers were cleaning the cars and their employees left to themselves to manage the process. I was in line for 2+ hours! It was awful! Drop off took like 3 minutes. It was a breeze.

We are VERY tired of car rental companies constantly trying to upcharge us for services we don't need. All kinds of unnecessary insurance that is not wanted or needed. Almost everyone's charge card and personal auto insurance covers any possible claims. We especially didn't like how the woman that helped us tried to sneak in the "Basic" coverage for an extra $16 per day. Car was a Mitsubishi and was so-so.

Office Staff was friendly. Car was in good condition that I received.It's a long procedure to get the car. If there had been any kind of line it could've taken hours. Even in drop off. There's no need for a paper receipt if you're emailed it as well. The bus for the airport couldn't be bothered to wait for me to drop the keys. The guys who maintain cars and drive shuttle were not friendly. We seemed to be a bother.

The checking agent was rude and appeared very unhelpful. we waited for over 20 minutes because no one was at the office at 6 am. There was quite obvious damage to the car door which was not logged previously by the company- if we weren't thorough, we could have missed it in the dark and be liable.

Rip OffThe price was right going in. But renter beware! The will find a way to gouge you!I picked the car up at 3am in a poorly lit parking lot. Afterward u noticed some pre-existing damage on the car. After several 20 minute dropped calls u spoke with the manager Sam. He interrupted me as I was explaining the damage on the car. No problem! Just let them know when you return the car! Complete lie! I go to return the car. I explained the situation. The guys first response: Sam is not here! Fill out this accident report! When I told him I was going to write a poor review he just laughed! Eventually Sam came over and said I signed off on the car so therefore I was responsible! I intend to pursue this through the media!

New rental company experiencePicked up at the airport in one of the rental cars instead of a shuttle bus, and got to talk to the driver about the company and procedure while going from the airport to the rental location nearby. I hadn't done an all electronic type of rental before. They made it easy. Once you got the app loaded it was easy enough. Nice clean new Audi A4. Also a drop off at the airport, upon return, in the car that you had rented, so you don't have to move your bags or ride in a bus back to the airport. Very convenient to get dropped right at the curb by your airline departure location. Great experience. Helpful people from end to end. I'd use them again.Loading the app on my iphone was a bit of a pain. I couldn't get the pages on the app to scroll correctly so I could fill out the forms. I ultimately had to fill in the needed information to sign up via my laptop. Once I got through that it was easy. And with the app loaded I won't have to go through that again.

Very easy process, very expensive fee for gasThe drop off process was fast.I felt like I was rushed out of my car and could have left personal belongings behind easily. Also, the gas fee is overly expensive and I was charged $60 for a tank when the current gas prices would have allowed for a $40 fill up.

I had a terrible experience! I paid for the rental in advance in full and they cancelled my reservation because my flight was delayed, which caused me to be late to pick up the car. They did not provide a car or a refund. I’m extremely disappointed in the service they provided or “did not provide”. I believe it it both fraudulent and immoral. They rented the car to someone else so they were able to get double the money for the rental.

Green Motion cancelled our reservation before we arrived, leaving us stranded at the airport and forced to pay more than double for another car rental. What’s more, they (and Kayak) are refusing to give us refund. A horrible experience!
