Everything was super easy and the staff were very friendly!

Cons:

I don't think Thrifty could have done anything better other than let me know that there were no gas stations near the airport. It's not their fault that there aren't any nearby but it wasn't something I thought of because normally there are gas stations near the airports I fly in and out of. It was too close to my flight time for me to drive the extra 12 minutes back out of the airport to find a gas station, fill up, and then drive 12 minutes back. Again, I should have thought of it before, but if they would have informed me ahead of time it would have been less of an annoyance.

Have the vehicle full of gas, let people know there’s a 300 hold fee on top of your rental fee that will be held on your credit card. Went booking on kayak, provide additional insurance information if selected.

Pros:

When I arrived for pick-up, there was a little delay, which is understandable considering there was only one cleaner doing all the cars due to the outbreak. The staff communicated with me throughout the wait to assure me they didn’t forget about me. Afterwards, they gave me a free upgrade to a JAGUAR!!! Will definitely go back to Alamo @ CAK.

They refused our reservation-ONCE WE WERE THERE- stating they ONLY rent to people who were on a flight Absolutely ridiculous. Set us behind almost three hours behind schedule. Not accepting my reservation is one thing, telling me when I’m standing there is another.

I waited in line for almost an hour to pick up a car I had reserved days before. The attendant was very professional and personable and was working as fast as he could, but you need more than one person manning the counter! I felt bad for him. For that reason alone, I'd go with Hertz next time out of the CAK airport because there was no one in that line. The car was otherwise in perfect condition and the Clorox wipes were a very nice touch. But hire more people!

My only issue was there was nobody to check my rental back in and nobody at the desk either. So I just left the keys on the counter, hoping it was getting returned properly and that I’d receive my $200 credit deposit back. This was at Akron/Canton location.

The size car I reserved was not available. No Chevy Suburban or comparable vehicles. Had the choice of a Ford Transit 12 passenger or a Dodge Durango - not really comparable at all but I had no choice. Employee at the counter said that happens frequently. Needed to repack our bags and leave some things at home and then purchase those when we arrived at the destination. Still was asked to pay the same price even though what we requested was not an option. The Dodge Durango was pretty cramped for our trip. Is there any way that we can avoid that happening in the future?

It was an excellent experience renting from Budget. I used Hertz last time and had a bad experience and was overcharged. It was so good to be treated with respect and the price was good. I'll definitely use Budget again!!

Dollar car rental had no record of it and said it was booked through a third party. The confirmation number brought nothing up their system so there was no car available. I couldn't get a car there because they were out. Never again!

Drop-off and pickup in Parkersburg, WV and Canton, OH were both quick and easy; neither Chicago (O'Hare and West Loop) experience was positive: slow and unfriendly at O'Hare, and unexpectedly closed office with confusing drop-off at West Loop.

Pros:

Drop-off was way better than pickup. He listened and was knowledgeable and professional, even though he was training a new employee. And super fast.

Cons:

There was a clean sticker on the door jam and the inside looked cleaned but doubt it was sanitized (due to other behavior). The windows had a lot of spray water spots (not dried after car wash) so visibility was hampered by car lights and sunshine. Had to stop and clean them. The rental agent wanted to charge extra for listing spouse, which we questioned, and then she said oh maybe we don't. There could be more transparency on fees, insurance, charges, customer service and information. Seems shady and like trying to pad the bill tactics. Just have clear and trustworthy info spelled out. Tire tread was very low and we had rain during most of the drive. Concerning. Reserved an intermediate car and could not see anything on the display screen like Auto Android or Google maps or Waze. This is 2020! Sheesh. And we could not get a simple answer on insurance, or the benefits or things to consider or why to choose your insurance. Very strange like we should not get Hertz ins. We will not rent from Hertz again. And it was $6+ more than the online reservation amount and no reason given when we asked.
