On line, I reserved a full sized car,,,Camry or similar,,arrived and told no camry or similar,,got a small suv Nissan Kicks and was told it was an upgrade,,the ride beat me to death,,probably should have asked for a down graded size,,,drop off location,, Valparaiso, Ind,,,staff attire was less then casual, office smelled, bathroom needed cleaning, office floor needed vacuumed ,,check in was smooth6,4 Okay

Wasn't allowed to rent a car because I do not have a major credit card, even though I had already pre-paid for the entire rental up front. Ended up leaving without a rental car, causing my trip to be ruined.Easirent

Cons:
Our flight in Chicago cancelled. We were unable to change the pick up location from Peoria to Chicago We were stranded in Chicago at night. We had to get another car from Chicago to Peoria and then the next day go get our Kayak rental in Peoria. We paid for a day we did not use. The other problem was booking through Kayak there was no opportunity to cancel. We will never book another car through Kayak.9,6 Wonderful

On May 5, 2017, I pre-paid $285.15 for this rental car. When I picked it up on June 29, 2017, I give the clerk (Raquel) my pre-paid reservation receipt and she asked for a credit card (and said it was just for security deposit). When I returned the car as scheduled on July 12, 2017, the clerk asked if I wanted a receipt. It was then that I realized the rental agreement was put on a previous made (and supposed to be canceled) reservation and I was charged $401.46. THIS (SAME CAR) WAS PRE-PAID!! When I asked the clerk to remove the charge, she said that she could not. I called the billing department ... PLEASE REMOVE THE $401.46 ASAP!! I have been a Hertz Gold customer for over 30 years and I'm now very dissatisfied!3,6 Poor

I was given a tiny car for "compact" level and when I asked if they had any other one - Kara the customer service rep started lecturing me that "next time you should book the kind of car you actually want to drive!". Also; the car did not have full tank of gas even though I was charged for a full tank when I picked up. When I called to simply let them know that their records on the car were wrong- she kept arguing with me about how much gas should have been used in 10 minute span that I had the car and offered me "$2 dollar credit" which I declined. Hidden "airport" fees that were not communicated. I ended up $16 extra in taxes and fees, making the savings on the rental obsolete! Nowhere were these explained until they charged my credit card! I would not recommend this location or Herz in general, they only care about the money!Avis

Pros:
I picked up the SUV at the airport and they required me to sign the sheet that has the checklist for any damage to the vehicle? This is before I even see the vehicle that is parked a few hundred yards from the building? They need to have a person drive it up to the building and go over it before driving away! Once i got it to the peoples house I was picking up, I opened the back gate and noticed some previous damage from another rental?? NOW WHAT AM I TO DO ?? How do I prove I did not do it since I have the vehicle in my posession? A real bummer! I did buy the insurance, which by the way, is way too expensive..if they charge it to that insurance it will be fraud ?? Also the vehicle was very dirty and water spotted on the exterior which in turn makes it difficult to see any damage before driving out of the lot!!10,0 Wonderful

Pros:
I had a Focus and unbeknownst to me it was a hybrid model. This made for great mileage and saved on the gas expense. Despite being overpriced in my opinion, it was the lowest price that Kayak had available.Cons:
The entire infotainment system regularly shut off for the entire trip. While I had declined the Sirius and Navigation, it still made me unable to listen to the radio or CDs. The worker when I picked up the car was pretty condescending in her efforts to try and get me to spend more money. I had a one-way trip of about 600 miles, and I felt like the charge was pretty high for just a 24 hour rental.7,6 Good
