Pros: We loved everything! First, the hotel itself and more specifically the room we got looked even better than the pictures. The staff was incredibly nice and attentive, and the guided tours we went on with Ismael were just perfect.

Pros: This was the perfect place for me to stay. I could not have asked for more in terms of a hotel, all the staff were amazing, the driver was waiting for me at the airport and he was so happy and kind (my flight was delayed). We had the best drive and conversation to the hotel, I believe his name is Arthur (?) he pointed out the sites. We arrived at the hotel and Martinqe and her team were absolutely brilliant, my room was ready. They offered me breakfast and asked me what else I required. They showed me on a map how to get to the waterfront, less than a 10 min walk, super safe. Around the corner from the hotel are lots of places to buy food, even a health / vegan cafe, a Woolworths to buy groceries / water. Everything was literally on my door step. The hotel is tucked up along a side street so there is none of the noise of the main road, I could even see a tiny slice of the mountain from my balcony. Yes, the room, it was HUGE. I loved it and the beds are so so comfortable I did not wish to leave. Everything was clean, the room was designed to a high standard and I had no issues with anything. They organised for me to have a facial / massage in my room which was done by a girl called Sam, now she was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend her. The next day the hotel organised a helicopter tour for me which was mind blowing and even picked me up afterwards from the waterfront as I was so exhausted and not feel great. Martinque organised for food to be made at a nearby restaurant and even offered to go and collect in on my behalf! She really is amazing. I met the owner too a lovely Irish lady. Everyone was super friendly without being too pushy and left all the guest to chill and lounge but were always happy to help when needed. I booked this hotel because I had read so many amazing reviews and I can honestly say that everything everyone has written is absolutely true.

Pros: From the start at check in to checking out, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is beautiful, modern and clean and very relaxing and romantic. We only stayed for one night and wished we were staying in for the last part of our holiday but unable to cancel the other hotel! Breakfast is gorgeous. Afternoon fresh baked cake was a lovely gesture to come back to with a cup of tea. Thank you

Cons: The location is perfect and not far from V & A but we didn’t feel safe to walk back on our own so grabbed a taxi easily which is cheap.

Cons: The only thing the let's the hotel down slightly was that there are better locations within Cape Town for this type of luxury hotel. A couple blocks walk the 'wrong way' led to some undesirable parts of town.

Pros: The suite in the Heritage wing was beautiful. The floorboards were a bit squeaky but otherwise it was one of our favourite rooms in any hotel ever. As always, the Taj was very good value for money and we will be back.
Cons: Housekeeping staff were friendly but didn't understand our requests until the third time. Breakfast was good but unfortunately the Indian chef was away so we couldn't enjoy the specialty breakfast that we booked at the hotel for in the first place.

Cons: Minor complaint: The "lap pool" usually did not serve for swimming laps as it was the only pool at the hotel, it was only one lap wide, and was used by guests for simply lounging in the water. However, the gym was well equipped, so I was still able to get good exercise.

Cons: The cables attaching the patio shades to the building in front of room 206 made a constant mind rattling noise during the entire second night of my stay completely eroding any enjoyment of the space. After 2 hours of trying to ignore it I called the night duty manager who sent someone to listen to the noise first before agreeing to move me to another room. The staff were very friendly and helpful but I pity anyone who stays in room 206 or possibly 205 and 207 during a windy night in Cape Town. If you can, avoid staying on the street side of the hotel - rooms 201 to 208.

I had informed the hotel that it was our 25th wedding anniversary during our stay and we arrived to a lovely bouquet of flowers. They had also put fresh petals on the bed in the shape of a heart and arranged the towels into 2 swans forming a heart shape. Fantastic stay in a great location only minutes away from the infamous Long Street where there are loads of bars and restaurants. Approx 20 min walk from the trendy V & A Waterfront.

Cons: It was a bit of a let down that the hotel spa is no longer operational, we were looking forward to a spa day since they still keep the Spa in their name. Also, the individual suites do not come with a clothes dryer, thankfully housekeeping is happy to do that for you.

Cons: We hung up the towels as part of the water saving initiative but everyday the towels were replaced with new towels by housekeeping. Not sure if the water saving initiative was communicated to staff? There is no complimentary shuttle to V and A waterfront like the other hotels.

Cons: first we were in the room that internet was awful. it couldn't connect at all or it got disconnected every 3 minutes. we complained and they tried to help us and contacted internet company but was not helpful. after third day they changed the room finally for us.

Cons: We were allocated a family room of dirty blankets. The bin that was not emptied from the previous guest. The aircon that worked the opposite in the leaving Area. Washing Machine that could not close.

Cons: We had to get our keys re-coded every other day. We came to realize the hotel was resetting the room code every day, which was very annoying. The cleaning staff would miss things...something different every day.

Cons: The key card had to be re-activated almost daily because it would consistently zap out. The walls are paper thin and I can hear my neighbor's television. Cleaning staff took water bottles out of fridge that I had purchased. Stole them.

Cons: I didn't like the lack of security. The building is easily accessible from the car park and there isnt a card scanner or anything of that sorts in the lift. Granted though, you do need to walk passed security to get to the lift, but that is the only line of defence.

Cons: It was a tiny box of a room. The small, prison-like window that could not open, was filthy. The blind, once open, would not close as all the strings were in a tangle. Even the maintenance man struggled with it. The room rate was apparently on a 50% special discount - the room was too small and pokey to have demanded a higher price. Staff said the nearest ATM within walking distance was not safe to go to. Dodgy neighbourhood.

Cons: Our bi loft was so cold and the heater was not working. On a very cold night. The manager was then able to move us into one of the hotel rooms. The moving was hideous but we were warm at the end of the night. The hotel had no gowns.
