Apartments were comfortable an well though out
After a long flight when we got to the room we were instantly met by the concierge with information and details of excursions he was wanting us to book when really we ust needed time to relax not be pressured
Staff was amazing, so friendly and genuine. We especially enjoyed getting to know the staff at La Palapa (Guilibaldo, Raúl, Geny, Cesar, Eliseo, Fernando, Gilberto, and so many more...), and the servers on the beach and around the pool (Alfredo, Ivan and Manuel). Also, it was slow the week we stayed (~40% occupied), it seemed we had the place to ourselves.
Beach was covered with seaweed. Seaweed that washed up on the beach was cleaned up each morning but most of the swimming area floor was covered with it. And although it’s out of anyone’s control, the weather did not cooperate the first few days (rainy and humid)...it was our choice to go during rainy season. Improved as our time went on.
The Hotel and the room is very clean and beautiful!
I've never been to a hotel this complicated! It took us MORE than 45 minutes to do the check-in!!! The stuff is very unpolite, unpatient and stubborn! I would never ever go to this place again even though the pool area, the beach and the rooms are very pretty! Here some examples: Since our flight didn't leave until 10pm the next day we wondered if they could give us a special deal, so we don't have to check out at the usual time (11am). They couldn't! Even though it's low season and there are barely any guests we had to book another night. Okay I understand, BUT... The first night we booked through booking.com was 158 USD without breakfast included. The second night we should pay 211 USD with breakfast included even though they knew that we will not stay for the night and therefore not have the chance to have breakfast the following morning. Changing the nights so we could have breakfast when we're actually there for breakfast and pay 211 USD for the first and 158 USD for the second night was not possible either! The second night without breakfast was even more expensive! Also they forced us to pay our room in cash even though everywhere was written that you can pay in cash, by visa, by credit or by debit card. I could give you a lot more examples of unpolitness and unflexibility, but this would go beyond the scope!
Excellent floor plan. Very comfortable room
The sales agent for the tour. Sales pitch .packed with lies.
This hotel was chosen at the very last minute for my 30th birthday trip after plans to stay at another resort fell through. However, it was the best decision that my friends and I made! We changed to an earlier flight to avoid Hurricane Dorian and the hotel was able to accommodate us for an early check-in (major points already). Our personal concierge, Estella, did an AMAZING job of going through the available amenities and activities and in no time we had our entire week planned out. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool at The Royal Sands and our bartender, Angel, was very personable and attentive - even remembering our names and drink orders when we returned 3 days later! The all-inclusive package was definitely good value for money and our favorite restaurant was Captain's Cove. The bus stops to and from town are right outside the hotel, which made it very easy to get around and the buses ran about every 5 minutes. I enjoyed spending my 30th birthday at this resort and definitely will be back in the future.
There were no smart TVs so we were limited in what we could watch when we went to bed at night.
