Auberge Du Moulin Hideux - Bouillon - Building
1
9,3 Excellent (201 reviews)
R3 347+
Overview Reviews
This luxurious hotel is surrounded by a large garden in the heart of the Semois River Valley. There is a heated swimming pool that is covered during the cooler season. Auberge Du Moulin Hideus offers rooms with a bath, a fluffy bathrobe and slippers. Smokers can relax in the hotel’s smoking lounge and choose a cigar from the selection of Havanas. The garden has a large pond with a fountain. When weather is nice, you can enjoy the sun on the terrace, play a game of tennis or dive into the pool. The restaurant is specialized in local game during the hunting season. Auberge Du Moulin Hideux offers free Wi-fi in the lounge and a cyber-stand at the reception. The city centre of Bouillon and the famous Castle of Bouillon are a 10-minute drive away. You can also go hiking and discover the views of the hilly landscape.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent charming hotel with high standards for everything!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This is little oasis in the forest. It is top quality, very relaxing, great service, friendly and professional. Great pool and lounging areas, inside and out. Great outdoor seating, calm and relaxing. The bedroom was lovely with huge bed and great bedding. The food was excellent.
Cons: Nothing really. The rooms are very good value and the food and wine is expensive as it is a Michelin star restaurant.
6,7 Good
Pros: Wonderful surroundings. Staff is very helpful and kind. In-the-room breakfast service. Good facilities (bathtub, swimming pool, steam room, etc). Beautiful hiking trails around for a Sunday morning stroll.
Cons: Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet expectations. It is a hotel with a target customer group of people above 50 years old- if you are 30 years old or below, it is not going to be a pleasant experience. The big attraction is definitely the 1 Michelin star restaurant in the premises. If you are not into that type of fine dining, the only options are very limited. In my opinion, this is not a hotel... it is a fancy restaurant offering customers the possibility of staying overnight. The attention is placed on the restaurant, but the accommodation is not worth the price. I am sure the restaurant is top class. Rooms are relatively dated and the furniture is nothing special (room 16). Small TV, broken lamp. There is no Wifi in the room, nor phone reception at all. The only Wifi is in the lounge, but the speed is very suboptimal. Breakfast is OK, but at EUR 20 per person per day it is not worth it. In other words, this is a perfect getaway for upper class seniors willing to have a culinary experience. For a young couple wanting to have a romantic weekend, there are better options.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A little oasis in the ardennes, wonderful relaxing atmosphere and great food. We've been coming here for years, first time almost 40 years ago, every visit is a true pleasure.

Pros: Great ambiance for celebrating a special occasion. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our stay in Auberge du Moulin Hideux.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place, beautifully renovated, impeccable staff, and gourmet dinner at the starred restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the indoor pool, and the cosy salon. Very quiet and surrounded by a beautiful garden. All personnel was extremely attentive and professional. Our room was very comfortable, spacious, and the beds were very good.
Cons: There is no wifi in the rooms, only in the common areas.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location, great hotel, superb food
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beautiful, staff is very friendly, gardens and surroundings are stunning, food is excellent!
Cons: Wi-fi was down, apparently due to a snow fall the day prior. Bathroom lights could use dimmers. Smoking is allowed in the second floor bar, and I was able to smell it in the room. Smoking should not be allowed iindoors.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very beautiful building in a glorious setting. Peaceful, elegant and calm. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and found the staff to be wonderful - funny, warm and professional. We booked a standard room which was spacious and well appointed. We will definitely be back.

Cons: The beds and the pillows were not comfortable.

Overview Reviews
When you stay at Hôtel Panorama in Bouillon, you'll be 10 minutes by foot from Bouillon Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel, great position, good room, and lovely dinner. Couldn't fault it. If in Bouillion, this is the place to stay. Will be back !
Cons: Pillows needed to be bigger, seemed incongruous that on a super king size bed we were only given one small pillow per person. In the hotels defence we were too stupid to ask for more. But maybe something to be considered.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was delicious - really good idea to be able to cook your own eggs how you like them. Location excellent, beautiful view over the town
Cons: The hairdryer in the room was the old fashioned type. In the Wellness centre they had a normal hairdryer - so why cant the bedrooms have the same thing?
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated high up above Bouillon with wonderful views across the river and to the castle. Our room was very comfortable. Lounge area very comfy and there is a great terrace at the front. Sadly it was raining so we didn’t use it. We ate dinner which was absolutely delicious and had an excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Parking could be tricky
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stopped over in Bouillon for one night. The Panorama had great views over the town and the castle. The half board deal was good value, both the dinner and breakfast were very good. The parking was within a few metres and seemed secure. All the staff were friendly and happy to help.
Cons: Nothing
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely views and comfortable room with good shower. Good breakfast and lovely dog called Ginger. 10 min walk into town.
Cons: Small step inside bedroom door a bit of a hazard plus to lock and unlock bedroom door inside you need to remove key from power slot hence lights go out and you can’t see the key or lock. Would be very dangerous in a fire situation.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was enormous, with separate toilet and bathroom more like a suite! The food was very good. Sitting out on the terrace with a cold beer was also good.
Cons: Nothing.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The superior room with the balcony overlooking the town and castle were unbeatable! Se watched the firework display at the end of the fete from the terrace. The room itself was large and comfortable with separate bath/shower room from the toilet. We had the set menu in the restaurant which was very good and reasonably priced.. 35 for 4 courses. The carrot and cumin soup and fish course were particularly good. The breakfast was good, fresh fruit salad, great whole meal bread with cheeses, ham, jams and good croissants, coffee etc. If you wanted a cooked breakfast you had to cook your own!!! With frying pan and even electric pancake griddle!!
Cons: The double was 2 single beds pushed together which wasn’t so comfortable for us. The shower is in the bath and you have to step quite high with no hand rail. Surprising lack of toiletries... but not the most important thing,
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We had a fabulous meal at this hotel which we all enjoyed very much and the breakfast was very good aswell. The hotel was very high up hence the name which gave great views over the town.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: the restaurant was excellent.
Cons: The room was one of the few that had not been updated. It was very basic and more aligned with a budget room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: There was a beautiful view from the bedroom, which was of a good size, though we had booked an upgraded room. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent, in a pleasant dining area.
Cons: They should not advertise a swimming pool. It's a plunge pool.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts, Steven is so friendly, couldn't do enough for you. Such a quaint pretty hotel, lovely outside area, great breakfast, lovely waking up to the smell if fresh brewed coffee, clean and homely, definatly would stay again. Not far to Boullion, can buy drinks, tea. Coffee which was handy, took some wine outside as lovely evening on pretty patio. We were travelling by motorbike and not a problem, easy to visit lovely surrounding area.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and friendly host. A very warm and welcoming ambience.
Cons: Although a double bed frame there were two single mattresses and two single duvets. Would have been better with a double mattress or at least a double duvet- not good for my back, but not a major problem.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect; we loved the decor and the kindness of the owners. Breakfast was wonderful and thank you again for our delicious dinner. We appreciated the calm of the village and our morning walk to Mont Zatrou. We would definitely come back again. Merci pour tout!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast and spacious room
Cons: There is nothing else in the village - it was nice and quiet especially in the night, but you need to go to Bouillon for lunch.

6,3 Good
Pros: The place is up a steep hill but accessible if you've got stamina or a car. The views, especially from our room #2 were dramatic of the city and the Count's Fort. It had a lovely "public patio" (quotes to be explained later) and our room also had a grand outdoor patio.
Cons: The owner/chef Wim(?), ruined our time at this location. He is a hot head with a chip on his shoulder that ended up being the downfall of our time there as well as two Americans also staying there that we befriended. As John Paul, our Belgian American friend said "this guy is really bad for Belgium." Not to prolong the misery but the incident arose after we were gifted by Van Steenberg Brewery near Ghent a magnum of our favorite Belgium beer, Tripel de Garre. We told the staff we wanted to share it with others and the young son showed us we had a fridge in our room. I then told Wim we met their guests from America and wanted to get some cheeses to offer them when we shared the bottle. Wim directed me to the store. We met our friends on the public patio outside well away from the B&B and restaurant. there was no one in the bar or restaurant. I asked the young worker if we could use four glasses to share the beer and he graciously agreed. After about 30 minutes of quietly enjoying the view and the beer, Wim stormed onto the public patio, told us we were not allowed to drink our belgium beer there and insisted we leave immediately. We said OK and started to gather our belongings but Wim shouted "right now, you must leave immediately!" He then claimed in 20 years no guest has ever had the audacity to share a beverage on the public patio. At that point, we had to ask him to calm down as he was acting threatening, but the rant continued. He even told us about the size of his mortgage as if drinking our gift had deprived him of significant value! The said thing is our simple celebration with new found friends is not what is depriving him of income. It is the atrociously sophomoric culinary experience he offers. It was also the low light of our eating in Belgium. This guy really should not be in the service or culinary business. To prove the point, aside from the four of us, only one other couple ever showed up for dinner.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel with excellent views from some rooms. Friendly staff and good location.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The Service was on-point with really good food. The breakfast was outstanding and the rooms were quaint and cosy. Great experience.
Cons: The shampoo ran out and the stairway is narrow and creaky, but it forms part of the charm. Would not recommend for people with large suitcases.
6,7 Good
Pros: Shower
Cons: Lighting in the room
8,8 Excellent
Pros: This is a small, family run hotel in a lovely house on the hill above the town. It boasts a fabulous view across the river valley to the medieval castle. While we didn't spring for the balcony rooms we really enjoyed the terrace overlooking the town, where you can relax and enjoy a beer and the beautiful view. Breakfast in the grand dining room was both excellent and good value. The location is handy for visiting the town on foot.
Cons: We dined in the hotel's gastronomic restaurant, and we both found the menu to be highly confusing. The choices available for the set menus were unclear and we had a hard time figuring out which dishes were starters and which were mains. The staff tried to help but didn't do a good job of explaining - in part because of the language barrier (my French is rather rusty). The food was decent enough, but we would have enjoyed the experience more if we'd better understood the choices available.
7,9 Good
Pros: Excellent breakfast, clean hotel and nice bathroom
Cons: 130 € / per night is a bit expensive for a small room, without breakfast.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very attractive house, high on the hill in Bouillon with beautiful views of the town.
Cons: The breakfast was quite extensive but compared to others we sampled on our tour with thought it was rather overpriced for the quantities offered.

6,3 Good
Pros: Clean, good bed
Cons: Common areas close after 10pm (no lobby access). Breakfast room is dark with no windows (no view of the castle) Breakfast OK but didn't meet our expectation at the price level, compared to other properties we stayed at in the area.
7,5 Good
Pros: style
Cons: meals are too expensive
6,7 Good
Pros: Nice view over Bouillon and the Castle.
Cons: The hotel could be named ”Cosy & Strange”. When we entered into the reception we met a big cat.... I love cats but my wife does not. So, perhaps it would be good to inform guests that this is an Animal Hotel... also because it was in the breakfast restaurant in the morning too... we all know what cats do.. Then the stairs up to the room was very uncomfortable and it was smelling old. Finally the room was cold... so yes you can say it was cosy.... had to sleep close to keep the temperature. I guess this hotel will be perfect for catlovers for guests still living in the eighties. Modern guests expect more in relation to the relatively high price we paid.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous view good restaurant
Cons: Dead animals watching us have breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room and breakfast. Great location
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The view to the castle was beautiful especially at night. The castle lights up with different colours of a night time. The breakfast was lovely everything you need. Lovely new bathroom....door needs shaving so door shuts properly. Lovely cosy hotel with a very helpful owner.
Cons: There is no car park but if you are lucky You can park outside the hotel. You have to climb quite a few stairs to reception. There is a small elevator to take luggage up. No tea & coffee facilities in room.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant breakfast, very comfortable room, really enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Steps ( only joking)
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Everything ok
Cons: over 100 Eur per night seems a bit to much for a village.

Pros: Wonderful view, perfect cleanliness, hospitable owners! Two fat beautiful cats!!!

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Nice big rooms and friendly owner. Nice and quiet in a picturesque setting with good dog walks. Local town Bouillon offers good restaurants.
6,7 Good
Pros: The warm welcome by our host Marc, simple but tasty breakfast, beautiful house and garden, lovely location in the middle of the woods. And the fact that our dog was welcome was very nice too!
Cons: The bathroom was a bit shabby and could do with some refurbishment. Wooden floors would be better than carpet in the room, especially for people that are allergic to dust. Some fruit on the table during breakfast would be nice.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great quiet place in the middle of nature. Super friendly host Very large comfortable rooms Multiple running/biking/walking tracks around
Cons: Everything was perfect
7,9 Good
Pros: A nice location if you are looking for an escape from the city - nature all around it. The room was very big and comfortable, and we could stay with our dog. The owner is very nice and friendly.
Cons: Make sure you take cash-other methods of payment are not accepted (transfer is also possible). Wifi connection is very slow.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house with lovely garden in the middle of the forest. 15 minutes drive and you are in medieval Bouillon, with the most beautiful castle! The owner was absent, so it was really quite and pieceful. We had breakfast on the sunny balcony. Great!
Cons: Breakfast was very simple (and we took it ourselves from the kitchen), but the owner discussed this with us beforehand.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: La Maison de l'Eveil is the perfect location for anyone looking for a quiet out-of-the-way accommodation. Staying there is like being a guest at a friend's country country estate, a feeling made that much more pleasurable by Mark, the owner and gregarious host of the place. Nearby are hiking trails through the hills and forests of this wilderness--at least by Belgium standards, we are from Canada--area, and it's an easy scenic drive to the Semois Valley and Bouillon and its Chateau/Fort. I not only would recommend the Belgium-bound traveler spend a few days at La Maison de l'Eveil: I would assert that it is an imperative for anyone who wants to experience Belgium outside its many charming cities.
Cons: There was not one thing we disliked.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location, and the landlord was very welcoming and accommodating. Everything was faultless. I really enjoyed my stay and the area was peaceful and relaxing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice house with garden view. Very quite. Very friendly owner.
Cons: Walls are thin, so we have heard our neigbors as well as they have heard us. (Children's games) :))

6,0 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Shower
5,8 Okay
Pros: Perfect breakfast and the breakfast staff was very pleasent, particularly and old dame who was in charge or that task. The place is great and it is easy to park and eat something.
Cons: The welcome and particularly the boss was not so nice and in bad mood. Matress and pillow are too strong, and there's some noise (probably from a fridge located outside or in the kitchen) in room 101. Nobody asked us if we were happy of the room and service during checkout...
5,8 Okay
Pros: Paintings on the walls and location
Cons: Parking was supposed to be on site, it was only public parking which was full in early afternoon
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: The view.
Cons: The comfort of the beds.
7,9 Good
Pros: wi fi not available in the room
Cons: wifi strength
4,6 Okay
Cons: It was extremely dirty, we had spider webs in the room, sticky floor, stained decorative blanket, the towels provided had holes in them and what seemed like black mold on the sealing near the shower.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location and value for money
Cons: The staff could be more friendly
4,6 Okay
Pros: The hotel being situated on the river side, close to the cute old town really is it's only good point.
Cons: The hotel lacks soul and the rooms and decor are tired looking and outdated. Tile floors in the rooms make it cold and unpleasant. In fact, heating was off and the room freezing when we arrived, which definitely doesn't make for a welcoming feel. And about feeling welcome, there's a warning at every wall or in the lifts or at breakfast: hospitality does not in any way seem to be on the owners' /managers' minds at all. Towels are washed out grey or yellow, rather than white. The mattress felt like cardboard and foam blocks serve as pillows, preventing a good night's sleep. Breakfast was meagre with low quality cold cuts and cheese, old bread and a lady (owner?) shouting after you where stuff is, therefore not allowing for a quiet, relaxing breakfast (it's not included anyway, so you're better off going somewhere nice). Having travelled a lot, we had a laugh with how bad the hotel was and we only stayed 1 night, so it was doable. But it baffled us how a place like this can have 3 stars.
5,3 Okay
Pros: At first, the staff seemed curt, but later the manager was quite helpful. The location was also very good.
Cons: I've never seen: 1). A hotel in a cold climate with tiles on the floor with no carpeting! Gave it a cold, impersonal feeling. 2.) A TV with a controlled maximum volume! Wasn't very loud!!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The chef/owner was very attenti8ve to his guests and provided a very high standard of cuisine.
Cons: Nothing
6,0 Good
Pros: Good location, nice village.
Cons: In need of some improvements - radiator did not work properly (too hot) and hairdryer hose was broken.
7,3 Good
Pros: Great location, very friendly staff. The room was clean and had a nice view of the river. Quiet location and good breakfast (the warm bread in the morning was wonderful!).
Cons: The room did not look like the picture (we did not have a four poster bed). The bed was really uncomfortable.
5,3 Okay
Pros: Very good location
6,3 Good
Pros: Good Hotel Beautiful location
Cons: Breakfast commencing at 8.30 was quite late
6,0 Good
Pros: Nice room with river view, hotel is on a quiet road, outside eating and drinking area.
Cons: No negative points at all
6,0 Good
Pros: in the town, close to castle
Cons: cold in the room
7,0 Good
Pros: Manager Alain was very friendly.
Cons: Friends said shared bathrooms lacked privacy - I understand there were open cubicles for shower and toilets in same space.
6,0 Good
Pros: The view and the location excellent. Staff very helpful.
Cons: The internet could be only accessed through a cable in the lobby. I guess that it is close to impossible to get to it in high season.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient, close to town and quiet. Had a great night's sleep. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Nice location and friendly owners.
Cons: The rooms are small, but, this is made up by being able to use the living room and kitchen facilities.
4,2 Okay
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The building smelt stale. It was dirty in places and generally run down it felt unclean. They had a dog( who is lovely) but in the general open area used for guests the carpet was full of dog hairs and looked liked it had never seen a hoover☹️ Room was small. Landlady could not speak English but we got by as we did not need to interact with them much.

5,2 Okay
Pros: Good position in town of Bouillon
Cons: Dog in adjoining room disturbed us in the night. Group of 10+ young ladies were noisy, visiting each others rooms, banging doors, hairdryer going at 5.30 am.
