My rental agreement at sign up said, “A Kia Soul or Similar.” When I arrived at Avis, they compelled me to take an EV or be up charged for a gasoline vehicle. This proved difficult since I was taking a long trip to Charlotte, NC from Savannah, GA. I was three hours late to my class because I could not find a suitable charging station. Keeping the charge on the vehicle proved a challenge to say the least. They didn’t even provide a power cord for charging at home.Reviewed Mar 24 2026

This rental car was not clean. It was covered with water marks outside and the glass had large smudge marks on the inside. We were behind and had to go so we went otherwise I would have gone back in to get something else. After our first stop I took a bowel of water, a wash cloth, and a towel and washed the inside windows and dash. So much for being a President's Club member.Reviewed Jan 16 2025

Had no vehicle (pickup truck) on hand when I arrived and merely wanted to blame "corporate". Refused to upgrade me to a box truck, and told me to find a pickup rental elsewhere. Next;, when unexpectedly someone else was returning a pickup truck he raised the cost of collision damage waiver from $18 thru my reservation thru Kayak to $30 at his counter. I booked through Kayak and my confirmation had an estimated total of $197.74 but once I landed and gave the Avis desk my confirmation details, they said my rate for the reservation no longer existed even though I had email confirmation from both Avis and Kayak showing the rate. Instead, I was charged $388.77 and the associate told me there was nothing she could do, nor could she give me a cheaper rate on any other vehicle (I asked if I could simply take their cheapest car/rate combo instead). Now, these total charges have exceeded my company's travel policy, so I cannot be reimbursed for the excess fees associated with the overcharged booking. I need an explanation immediately regarding the upcharge and the shady business practice of confirming an estimated quote, then practically doubling it once I arrive to pick up the vehicle.Reviewed Jul 18 2024

Arrived after selecting a convertible. No convertible available, so they gave us a jeep with a hard top, and although you could remove it, the sections were large and we were in a hotel with no where to store them.
