Car Problems Handled OKPros:SFO were VERY helpful! And the staff in Anaheim seemed nice.Cons:Rented a small car and hit the road. About 30 miles later, headed north and far past the nearest Alamo it started to make noises in the right front corner. As far as I can tell, the fender well was dragging on the tire. I got out a few times and there didn't seem to be any damage going on. Called customer support and his only suggestion was to drive back to Anaheim (now closed) or carry on and get it checked at the next Alamo (SFO). I called the next day as the noise was louder and the customer support person suggested I get to SFO and exchange it or get my money back. He said he'd call ahead and let them know, which he apparently didn't do (SOF had NO idea what I was talking about. Anyway, SFO gave us the remainder of our money back and the trip was accomplished OK, so alls well that ends well, I guess.Reviewed Jan 26 2017

Pros:Drop-off was incredibly easy, and the car was great. Clean interior and excellent gas mileage.Cons:The gentleman who helped us at the pickup needs some improvement. When we arrived there were two customers ahead of us, and two other customers came in after us. It took him 10-15 minutes per customer (including us) to get things checked out. We waited for over 30 minutes to get to the counter to pick up the car (which, although it was reserved, had been given to someone else, apparently), and then it took another 10-15 for him to finish. He was able to get us another car and at a great price, but he talks WAY too much. I totally understand that being friendly is a big part of business and the customer experience, but he went on and on, tangent after tangent, with each customer, even though there were others waiting and it was clear some (including us) were in a hurry. It's more important to be respectful of the customers' time when you have that many people waiting than to chat it up incessantly with each of them.Reviewed Oct 16 2019

Excellent but how about having the car information filled out?Cons:Overall a great experience but I was very uncomfortable with being given a rental contract with ALL the car information, make, model, color, license plate etc left blank. I would also be more comfortable if someone walked around the car with me to check its condition on both pickup and return. This was a one year old car with 22,000 mies on it and it did have minor scrapes and scratches. It would be nice to document this before leaving and to not just hand the keys to someone inside on return.Reviewed Aug 25 2017

Pros:I liked nothing. This location was closed due to Covid 19, but on the website still allowed you to book rentals! We calling to verify and confirm only an automatic service was available. When we got to the office there was a note saying go to a different sister station to get rental services.Cons:Any changes should be notified to customers right away!Reviewed Jun 22 2020

Pros:Nothing, terrible experience. The Alamo rental business itself was CLOSED. I was able to rent and reserve a car, but upon arrival to the location the place was closed. This is unacceptable. I even called Alamo customer service and they confirmed the reservation and address, and said it was open on their end of information....but the place was not open for business nor were they answering their phones.Cons:Your company needs to check (especially with variable business hours/operation these days) to see if the rental companies themselves are OPEN before allowing customers to make reservations. In the end, I was left without a rental car and late for my trip. I had to find another rental car location to emergently book a car. Your company needs to filter business and not allow this happen to other customers because it was a big hassle.Reviewed Jun 13 2020

Pros:I showed up to the designated location to pick up my reserved rental car and found the branch closed. I had confirmed my reservation the day before. Other customers were showing up as well to drop off their vehicles but the building was locked. When calling Alamo's main customer support line, I was placed on hold for more than 30 minutes. The representative that helped us could not provide us with an answer as to why the location was closed. They did not offer any solutions other than to drive to a different location which would take us an additional 45 minutes to arrive.Cons:Customer service on all levels. There are no guarantees with this company even when you have a confirmation number. I highly recommend using an alternative car rental company.Reviewed Aug 25 2020

wrecked and rewarded!Pros:We had a wreck and the agent emphasized that we had purchased insurance so we didn't need to spend the remainder of our vacation working about the vehicle. He was quick to point out his relief we were all ok (FIRST question asked was if we were ok). When we got a replacement vehicle we were upgraded to a nicer vehicle. And at the drop off the staff we great about the wreck. Live person interactions at pick-up and drop off were very good. Despite some frustration as noted below, I would rent with them again and my over all experience was great. Hats off to Dodge for designing a van that can take a tremendous hit and leave all my family unharmed!Cons:1. When were unable to find the Alamo office at Disneyland, we called Alamo. The agent acted like we were stupid, seemed annoyed we called, and told us there was no office at Disneyland. We were instructed to go to a location several miles away. When we called a cab, the driver told us where to find the office so we wouldn't waste money on a needless trip. 2. When we wrecked it was VERY difficult to find out how to report the accident to Alamo. Calls to the main line resulted in long holds or worse, agents not putting us on hold and discussing my question with supervisors while we got to listen in. They wouldn't tell you what they were doing either, they would just be gone. We were told to call the office where we rented the vehicle but it was closed. It literally took me several hours to find someone who could help us. CLUELESS is how I would describe Alamo's rental agents. I finally guessed at an option and talked to a very helpful gentleman who took my statements. He gave me a number to call in the morning as it was now very late at night. When I called that number the agents answering the phone were once again clueless. I gave up and called the same number I had success on the night before. I was in a remote location and needed a replacement car. This leads to #3 3. There was no Alamo within about 150 mile radius so they offered their subsidiary Enterprise. But in order to get that vehicle it would have to be towed to our location and I was told I would likely have to pay the towing and mileage fee, which would have been outrageous given it would have had to be towed about 40 miles or so. So much for the promise "we pick you up"which kept playing while I was on hold with them. In the end I ended up finding a ride into town from a sympathetic soul, so hats off to the hospitality of the people of Window Rock, Az!Reviewed Apr 24 2017

Pros:Got a good deal on the price.Cons:Annoyed that the customer representative wouldn't change the fuel level on the document. Said that the car has sensor and the computer would pick up the fuel amount. I doubted what he said so I took a picture of the fuel gauge at the beginning of the rental. Upon return of the vehicle they tried to charge me 77 bucks for refuel fee. Luckily I showed them the picture I took before so they cancelled the charge. Didn't know if the guy was trying to screw with me or what.Reviewed Jun 27 2021

Car upgraded for free, zero hassle pickup and retuPros:Car I paid for was not available during pickup, received free upgrade and free tank of gas for being flexible. Alamo/national is all I rent from for reasons such as this. Things like this can happen all the time and isn't really anybody's fault. They could have easily made me take a lesser car or different same class car. Always good experience with both of them and prices are competitive.Cons:No complaints, all was great.Reviewed Dec 31 2015
