When your own shoulders are broader than the actual chair back, and the other passengers surrounding you are also faced with uncomfortable and cramped seating - then clearly the consumer’s well-being has taken a “back seat”!"

Cons: "I booked through the United website as trip from US, have Silver status on United, and Lufthansa's policies of not allowing advance (1-2 mo before flight) seat selection (never on UA nor LH websites) are just horrible. Hard to get through on 800 number, and 1 day before trip answer was still to do it in Frankfurt. Economy plus was $1000 more/person, and even then no guarantee I could choose a seat far in advance. Then, at computer kiosk in Frankfurt, they had a wrong diagram of the plane,as we ended up on what turned out to be a no-recline row which I would never get. I'm 6'2", 230lbs, and wasn't able to sleep on that flight. Had I been able to reserve a seat behind a bulkhead or in exit row 2mos in advance, I would have been fine."

The main issue was that when I purchased my ticket throughout Kayak YOU NEVER SPECIFIED THAT I SHOULD CHECK MY BAGS 45 MINUTES EARLY OR I WOULD LOOSE MY FLIGHT. Pros: "Horrible check in process. Arrived 2-1/2 hours before flight, and spent the entire time in line waiting to check in. Was very chaotic and extremely frustrating. The staff were great, and thanks to their help we surprisingly didn't miss our flight. I cannot stress enough how awful this experience was."

Cons: "we were not able to check in at the kiosk, it was saying that we need further assistance but wasn't giving any reason, nobody could help us with it. we were directed to different stands 3 times were people would just tell us they don't know what to do. the lines everywhere were extremely long with only 1 person working, the lady came up to the line at some point and stating assisting people in line starting from the back end of the line. That was very frustrating. she finally got to us, asked us to come up to the kiosk with her, wasn't been able to help us and then put us back in the end of the line! The lady who was able to help us in the end just said "it was just disconnected." I have no idea what it means but considering that on our way in we had to be on "standby" because the flight was overbooked. the total impressing from United is very poor."
