Pros: The staff at the airports were friendly.
Cons: After thorough check (and hours at the airport) at the holiday destination, Dubai, my luggage was deemed lost. The DXB lost luggage staff helped me complete a 'lost luggage' report. However, the staff member told me that 'if' RwandAir found my luggage, I would be responsible for going to the airport as RwandAir does not have lost luggage delivery like most airlines. For the six days of my holiday, I waited for phone calls and checked emails expecting to hear from RwandAir. I heard nothing, RwandAir had made no effort of any kind to locate my luggage they had mishandled. Upon flying back home, I checked with the initial airport (DXB), the transit airport (Kigali), and my final destination airport (Brazzaville). My luggage was not in any of the airports mentioned. In each airport, and the RwandAir office at the Brazzaville airport, I presented the initial lost luggage form from the prior week and it was apparent that nobody, no airport, and no office was interested in finding my luggage. RwandAir, at no point, apologized for losing my belongings or in any way attempted to make up for seriously harming my holiday- not to mention the fact that it appears I will never see my possessions that were last seen being taken by RwandAir staff at the beginning of my holiday travels.
Cons: Upon arrival to the airport, we were informed that the flight was cancelled. Without any information, we were put on a bus to go to a hotel that was chosen for us. I was only given the name of the hotel because I made the woman tell me. No choice was given in lodging. Once there, we were fed, again, no choice given. We were just told that lunch was ready. Facilities in the room did not work and just showering caused the bathroom to flood. Not to mention the low security outside where the gate was left open all night. In order to get my new flight itinerary, I had to go back to the airport to ask at the ASKY office. This situation was handled poorly because of their policies to "send people" to the arranged hotel.
Pros: The airline was quick to give vouchers for food and hotel when flight was delayed by 5 hours. They were also efficient in rebooking missed connecting flight.
Cons: On top of a five hour delay that got me to my arrival point 14 hours behind schedule, my two checked bags were also lost and have not been found up to two days later. The food was like being on a Delta flight, and the entertainment screens in my entire row would not work, nor did many others.
Pros: The service, food, and logistics were all mediocre. The flight there wasn't bad, but there was also nothing I would recommend.
Cons: I didn't like that the crew seemed confused the entire time and had no structure as to how to coordinate the flight.
Pros: The short connecting flight.
Cons: Virtually everything about the boarding process was disorganized. We were met by Asky staff shouting out names to hand over our boarding passes for the connecting flight. The flight was well over two hours late (for a 40-minute flight, this was frustrating and completely unexplained by the crew). We had to be transported by bus to the plane and that was another hour-long process with very little apology from the overworked and overwhelmed staff. Ethiopian Airlines and ASKY appears to be a bargain in terms of price but I would be highly unlikely to use them in the future after such a disappointing introduction. I’m sure they lost several dozen repeat clients because of the disorganized nature of their transfers from Newark and the nonchalant attitude of their staff. I would not recommend this, especially for elderly and disabled passengers or families with young children.
