Staff was very nice. Car was very new & rode nice & smooth. The only things that were not up to par was that there were no notes in Thrifty’s system about existing dents & scratches so we had to meticulously go over the car for any damage before leaving the lot. And the exterior of the car was not fully cleaned. Bugs on windshield & nose of car. Interior was very clean.Reviewed Oct 6 2025

I had a great experience with Thrifty in Myrtle Beach. Customer service was very friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. Got me in and out with no waiting upon my arrival and I had a very easy drop-off with a quick vehicle inspection when I returned the vehicle.Reviewed Oct 28 2024

I had a reservation from February 20 to February 22, 2024 at the Myrtle Beach International Airport (Itinerary # **********3296 Confirmation K7622746054). I arrived at the Thrifty Car Rental Counter around 10:15 AM on Tuesday, February 20th. There were 2 customer service agents behind the counter. One was helping another customer. The other one was on her phone. I stood there waiting for several minutes and finally the one that was on her phone looked up and asked if she could help me. I told her that I had a reservation, gave her my name as well as my driver's license and credit card. She proceeded to place my driver's license into a machine. She tried this several times. She made the comment that it wasn't reading the driver's license. She then went to another machine that was where the other agent was working and tried that a few times. It still would not work. She then went into the back office. I assume she was trying another machine there. Came back out tried the machine at her workstation again. It would not work. She asked me if I had my passport. I told her that I did not routinely carry my passport on domestic flights. She then told me she would not be able to rent me the vehicle that I had reserved. I asked her if there was an alternative plan that she could use in case the machine would not scan my driver's license. She told me there was not. I asked if I could speak to a manager. She told me that I could not. I asked what my alternatives were. She told me I would have to rent a vehicle from another car rental counter. She did tell me that since Thrifty, Hertz, and Dollar are all the same company, I would run into the same problem. As it was clear, she was not going to go out of her way to help me, I proceeded to the Budget/Avis rental car counter. They were able to rent me a vehicle. However, it cost me over three times what I had rented the vehicle for at Thrifty. I find it very difficult to believe that there is not an alternative plan that she could have pursued check my driver's license when the machines don't work. And the fact that I was denied to speak to a manager, further underscores her lack of providing customer service. As a result, I will never rent from Thrifty/Hertz/Dollar. In fact, I had a reservation with Hertz in March at Myrtle Beach International Airport. I cancelled it and rebooked with Budget/Avis. Based on this experience, if Thrifty/Dollar/Hertz were the last rental car company on earth, I would walk.Reviewed Feb 23 2024

Pros:YesCons:Reserved car got there had to wait over booked had to wait for car then no car gave me a truck no way to get in no running boards. Then my husband 72 who had hips replaced had to get step stool and then no cover on pick up bed for belongings. I told the lady no pickup. Not happy traveling could not even see over hood . would like a refund.Reviewed May 25 2021
