Systems failureCons:The data for the online booking did not pull through to the local systems - and as a result I needed to switch providers. 100% fail.Reviewed May 28 2018

Horrible Experience Capetown ThriftyPros:staff was courteous and helpful but could resolve the major issuesCons:car was horribly dirty inside, 12v outlet didnt work but we didnt realize this until 4hours into the rental, returned it for another vehicle that was far dirtier, got a third vehicle and the 12v worked for the first hour and then quit. This was also to be a mini-van but was NOT a mini-van. We paid DOUBLE the price of a sedan for a minivan and ended up with a car no bigger than a sedan with a hatch back. Had I known that their defiinition of a minvan was sedan with hatch then i would have simply rented a sedan. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and a true bate and switch.Reviewed Aug 15 2016

Left in trouble by ThriftyPros:nothingCons:Despite turning up on time on the day with a printed copy of the booking confirmation with Thrifty i was told my booking was cancelled and they could not help me. No apology, just matter of fact, we don't care about your booking confirmation we have no cars your booking is cancelled please go away! On one of the busiest days of the year, in a holiday city, i was left looking for an alternative. I eventually found another company in the city, where i had to pay double the price of the Thrifty booking. This company told me that they had been receiving people like me all week as Thrifty had over booked their capacity!Reviewed Jan 4 2018

Horrible Customer ServicePros:Not much - the Thrifty team wouldn't take my credit card, and they tried to tell me in a nutshell I should downgrade my car so I can afford it - trust me, I can afford it. They wouldn't swipe the card I wanted to use.Reviewed Jul 30 2016

You can't help a customer a key locked in the car?Pros:Pickup and Dropoff was fine. The vehicle was more or less what we expected.Cons:I needed some help when I accidentally locked my keys in the truck of the vehicle. I realize this is my fault, but the staff lied and told me someone was en route to assist me. Further they told me I would receive a call from the manager. Nearly two hours after requesting emergency assistance, I received a call wherein I learned that Thrifty in SA does not unlock cars and I would have to do it myself. Thanks! I would have loved to have that information two hours prior. Foreign country, unusual circumstances, unhelpful/rude lying staff. Will not rent here again.Reviewed Jan 30 2017

Cons:A lot of muddling about our booking. Charged about $300 over the booking quote and insisted it was taxes although the booking quote included all taxes. Then they did not have our car ready on site. We had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive. After 2 long flights wee did not appreciate the wholeReviewed Mar 11 2019

Pros:We had a clean, great-condition Mercedes for our road trip from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth and back. The car ran well and we were pleased with it.Cons:We arrived at the Thrifty Airport store at midnight. We had requested an SUV (like Toyota Fortuner) to accommodate our family on a road trip. We had called to check about the rental a couple of days prior and were assured. When we arrived, they didn't have our car and gave us a Mercedes, saying it was a luxury car, and thus an upgrade. However, the Mercedes was small for our family of 4 and luggage. They said we could call the next day and they would deliver us the correct car. I called multiple times (5+) and had challenges with customer service - Thrifty never delivered the correct car or gave us a straight answer.Reviewed Jan 11 2019

The real pricePros:The price at first is really good but of course the car is not the best you can find. The price is fair if nothing is added. The car was clean but the quality of it is less than others in the market.Cons:As they give you a cheap price they look for every little thing in your car after giving it. I am responsable and never have problems when renting a car, in this case they have look for the minimun detail, thing they didnt do in the pick up. I understand that is also my resposability but in this case I felt that was something that they do to everyone looking for a return of the low price they gave you.Reviewed Jan 15 2016

Pros:Quick return.Cons:It took a little over an hour and a half to pick up the car. The line was well out the door and only a few Thrifty staff were working at the counter. When we finally received the car it was dirty, smelled like a wet dog inside and it was obvious that repair work had been done to several areas of the car body. Thankfully Thrifty was able to provide another car without so many issues after a short discussion with the staff.Reviewed Jan 10 2017
